True. In my country, the difference between the 7600 XT and the 7700 XT is 200 bucks and it costs the same as a 4060 so it's just the superior card here
We are sadly at a point where people think amount of vram matters more than the actual processing power of a card. Vram importance is massively overstated. It matters in certain edge cases but most of the time I'd rather have a 3070 with 8gb than a 3060 with 12 at 1440p
Fair, but for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the RTX 3060 12gb does better than an RTX 3070 since the game relies more on VRAM than the GPUs compute power, or at least without path tracing.
the one thing holding back my 3060 mobile is its 6gb of vram. it can easily handle stuff that need more (like doom eternal) it just can't because not enough vram.
At this point VRAM is also becoming a signal to consumers that a graphics card is good, so manufacturers might end up jamming excess amounts onto cards so people will buy the cards
I am pretty sure, that no game at 1080p is actually gonna use almost 16 GB's of VRAM, pretty sure you are looking at the VRAM allocation, which is a different metric.
when i said my father that i want an PC to game on it and Do some editing i said it would cost around 50k rupees then he said he would give me 300k budget to build PC and i built a top of thee line PC with rtx 4080 super and intel core i9 13900HX. This PC is a beast
7600xt 16gb model is purely aimed at entry AI modeling that requires 16gb vram plain and simple. Only reason a gamer would grab this over the 7700xt would be for mods like skyrim,gta5 for example that can eat up more then 12 gb easily.
There are people who think their 3060 12 gb (weaker card with 192 width memory bus) is faster than a 3060ti (beefier card with 256 width memory bus) just because of the Vram capacity.
I own an Asus prebuilt system equipped with a 2060 8GB Super, originally 16GB RAM which I've upgraded to 32GB, and an i7-10700KF CPU @ 3.80GHz. Despite this, I'm unable to attain more than 200fps in Fortnite on the lowest settings, and the fps decreases when I approach other players.
So crazy that almost all of 20 series is only 8GB, from 2060 Super Al the way to 2080 Super. If they just gave the 2080 Super 2-4GB more VRAM it would probably be much better
Best minimalistic hardware monitoring template? A template which is minimal and doesn't obstruct gameplay but visible enough so that i can look over and monitor my gpu temps and usage, cpu temps and usage and fps? On a single mobitor btw?
I mean z390 is still okay but yeah I’d recommend upgrading to AM5 or AM4 depending on budget, but the GPU is fine. Only upgrade if you have the money spare.
Good their not in a bad place if you are buying a lower priced card like 30 series or 4060 It is more worth it to just get a amd but if you want smt more high end than Nvidias additions like DLSS are definitely worth it
Also, VRAM helps a lot with the sales. You can't imagine how much ppl came to me saying "I have a 8GB card" or "i don't want this card with 8GB"... for non-tech people the VRAM number is often the only parameter they use for GPU choice.
Hey zack I’m new to the pc build world (literally) and here’s a bit akward question : when you buy all the parts for a pc (motherboard, cpu cooler, power supply …) do all the cables and screws you need come with all these parts ?
Hey Zach, can you help me pick a GPU for a PC I’m building? My GPU budget is $400 and I will be pairing it with a 7700x. I need to choose between a new RX 7700 XT and a used RTX 3080. I will be using the PC for 1440p gaming and potentially content creation later on. From what I can tell, the 3080 is a bit more powerful but I would be taking a risk buying used, is it worth it?
Is the Rx 7600 XT and the AMD Ryzen 5 7600x a good gpu and cpu combo for a 1200 dollar budget pc. I’m using it for both gaming and editing/graphic design
Day six of asking: I'm going to buy an ASUS ROG PG27AQDP (480 Hz, 1440P, 27", OLED). Currently, I have a Ryzen 7 5700G and a RTX 3060. What specs should I upgrade to in order to maintain 480 FPS in more competitive titles? (VALORANT, mostly FPS games and Fortnite as well - currently thinking of 7800X3D and a 4080. Thanks,
That combo is already perfectly good, but if you’re looking at a regular 4080 you should consider different priorities. 4080 super, 7900 xtx and 7900 XT are all comparable and similar or better in fps per dollar.
4080 super + 7800X3D should be enough, through reccommend looking up benchmarks. it would be easier (on the gpu) to play val/fortnite on 1080p, and it also depends on if you want to play high or low graphics settings
I’d go 7700(X) with 7900 XT/XTX unless you feel like you need NVIDIA then go 4080 Super. From what I’ve seen the 7800X3D doesn’t make much difference at 1440p or higher
For low end 1440p cards, 7700 XT, for the best 1440p performance, 7800 XT or 7900 GRE for AMD and 4070/ 4070 super for nvidia, and for highest end 7900 XT, 4070 ti super, 4080 etc.
The 6600 is significantly better for “raw performance” however when enabling DLSS the nvidia card does surpass it however you will not have this benefit when doing things like 3D rendering so if your going to mostly game then unpopularly I would go with the 3060 however if you are doing anything else or playing a game that doesn’t suppourt DLSS the 6600 is still a fantastic card
@@gamingmonkee09 generally the 6600 performs a good chunk of fps better but when enabling DLSS in nvidia you get closer however keep in mind the 6600 does have FSR
ztt build help is great idea, but can you add cpu comparison chart, same as gpu one? i want to learn about amd's and would be great to be able to compare them with intel which im familiar with so i have some starting point
As you've mentioned AI and Rendering, can you also make comparisons for "a Video Editing PC" I want to build my first PC that's mostly for video editing and animation but I'm torn between buying a Ryzen CPU and a more expensive Intel CPU.😢
Depends. What’s your budget for just the CPU. Generally you’ll want to get for ryzen an ‘x’ or ‘x3d’ CPU, and Intel a ‘K’ or ‘KF’. Also best to shoot for a ryzen 7 or i7/i9. The overall best CPU that also not just the definitive best is 7950x, but if that’s out of your price point then a 7700x or 7600x. And, if you’re going budget, then 5600x or 5700x or if you can 5800x3d/5700x3d. Either way, for any sort of workstation it’s generally the same- prioritize cores and cache, clock speed matters but isn’t a make or break, but really anything should be good. For video editing in particular, I would focus more on the GPU. Although CPU is more important in most aspect of video editing, software on GPUs can really be a massive point. Go NVIDIA because it has more features and better video editing/ recording software or go AMD because it’s cheaper and more vram (generally). Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Hi there Zach! One quick question: what PC should I get if I really like extensively modding games such as Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption II and if I really want to get into hardcore game development in Unreal Engine 5 and the Unreal Editor For Fortnite without spending too much money, as my parents do not want me to spend that much money on just a gaming PC?
Sure but should you buy a 6400? A new 6400 costs at least $130-$140 ish USD, for around the same price you can get a used 5700 XT with 8GB instead of 4GB which performs much better.
My friend has a i7-10700F and a GTX 1050 Ti, 16GB DDR4 and 240GB NVMe. I said: get a 1TB SATA SSD, then a RTX 4060, and eventually swap straight to AM6 when you have the money. W or L?
In theory yes but in practice not really at the end of the day you’ll bottleneck the GPU die on the 7600 XT long before you bottleneck the 7700 XT, also you’re definitely better off getting a used 6700 XT-6800 XT than a new 7600 XT
@@fctempered4450 12GB won’t be enough soon? 😂 The 7600 XT vs 7700 XT is like the AMD equivalent of 4060 Ti (16GB) vs 4070, the higher end card wins 99 if not 100% of the time. Future proofing is quickly becoming the most overused word in PC gaming and PC building without many properly understanding it, simply having more VRAM doesn’t make it more future proof.
Hi Zach! Im new to pc building, so should i buy a 6700xt 8700f prebuilt then upgrade the ram or shpuld i just build a pc myself. My budget is 1,100 to around 1,250
Build the PC yourself, for 1200 you could get a 7800 XT build, which is like 40% more performance and more vram. Also generally don’t get an 8000 series CPU, they’re pretty bad. 7000 is best.
It depends, your comment is very vague because you don't explain what your actual desires are apart from just having a PC. Do you care about the hobby of building the PC? Do you want to save money? Because the thing about building it yourself is that you'll have to get all the parts, wait for all of them to arrive, build it, be very careful, install case fans if necessary, trouble shoot any issues, update bios if necessary, installing the OS and activating it if it's windows and so on. Building the PC yourself can take from 1 hour to 4 hours of just building and setting it up. so if you don't want to deal with that and you want to jump straight into gaming then a prebuilt is a better option. I would always go for build it yourself since it's fun and in my opinion it feels when you make something yourself and then use it instead of just getting someone else to build it for you.
@@Lukweyfrfr well if you feel like building it then go ahead, you could save some money for games. For 1200 dollars you can get a very capable ryzen 5 7600x and 7700xt system that will play anything in 1440p.
You want a white GPU recommendation and 1440p AM4 cpu recommendation? Well first, I’d say if you are building for the first time, go AM5, but if you are upgrading then AM4 is great. Second, there are tons to choose from. GPU would matter much more for resolution- even a 5600 would still be able to work in 1440p if paired with a 4070 super. But, I would recommend to go with 5700x or 5800x, and if you can afford it 5800x3d (don’t know your budget so I can’t say precisely). And for a white GPU, well there’s tons. Got a 7800xt and i think im fine💪
I think it’s time we took into account vram for vr games specifically as well. (Referring to mainly vrchat. The most unoptimized game that exists)
I think vram is more for combability like games require certain vram to play in certain settings
The 7600xt has bad ROCm support, so that makes it harder to do rendering/ai with that particular card.
@Rullino32 isn’t path tracing exclusive to 40 series?
Remember, they're edge cases TODAY. As Zach said, games continue to get more demanding. And if you plan on having your card for a few years...
@@D34d1y1 I don’t think you want an 8GB card for 1440p
the one thing holding back my 3060 mobile is its 6gb of vram. it can easily handle stuff that need more (like doom eternal) it just can't because not enough vram.
zach can you include ray tracing performance on the GPU Comparison chart on your website? it only shows raster performance
He doesn’t make the charts, that’s Tom’s hardware, they’ll probably add Ray Tracing soon as that’s unfortunately the way the industry is heading
@@drew2626 yeah, ik, if you scroll down on the toms hardware article you find abunch of ray charts
Would love to hear how Vram impacts games like MSFS2024 which is super Vram dependent. Also needs some CPU performance. Thanks!
Back in my days this happened with the 1050ti and the 1060 3gb
Wasn’t 1050 Ti better?
@@drew2626 No, the 1050ti was slower but had 1gb more of varm, and the 1060 was faster but with less vram

Hey Zach what is your opinion about 5600xt?
It’s the same thing for the 3060 12GB and 3080 10GB! My friend has a build with the 3060 and I’m building one with an EVGA 3080 😎
Congratulations, but keep in mind 3060 is somewhat budget and 3080 is really high-end
@@DJGaming-co4il well it was high end last generation now it’s less performance than 4070
I assume you bought it used and hope you got a really good deal on it
@ yeah, I bought it for $500 cad so $350 in usd, pretty good deal, but it was in great condition.
@@drew2626 3080 is less performance then 4070? Isn't that just one card down from 3090? Let me check
7600xt 16gb model is purely aimed at entry AI modeling that requires 16gb vram plain and simple.
Only reason a gamer would grab this over the 7700xt would be for mods like skyrim,gta5 for example that can eat up more then 12 gb easily.
15g of VRAM at 1080p ultra? I hope that isn't the amount used 😅
That’s likely VRAM dedicated not VRAM used
It's the VRAM allocation, Zach just kinda ignored that for some reason... Ain't no way Tarkov is using that much at 1080p.
There are people who think their 3060 12 gb (weaker card with 192 width memory bus) is faster than a 3060ti (beefier card with 256 width memory bus) just because of the Vram capacity.
Hey Zach can I pls get a full gaming setup
where did you get those pictures behind you from?
Hey Zach im building a new PC.Can you tell me what components should i go wit for 1080p gaming. Plz tell me i am a big fan of yours.
Hey zach ive been watching you for 2 years now. Can i ask? Should i upgrade my z390 aorus master with an i7 8700 and rtx 3070?
I mean z390 is still okay but yeah I’d recommend upgrading to AM5 or AM4 depending on budget, but the GPU is fine. Only upgrade if you have the money spare.
@JonathonMarston yea im gonna go with am5 thanks dude!
I am new to gaming so I asked for a pc for Christmas, is there any good prebuilt for around 600-700?
At that price point your best bet is used or building yourself with used parts after doing your own research

the intel offers more vram , but always trust the 3rd party benchmark.
buddy get what fits in your budget
dont thunk any 3rd party benchmarks exist for b580 so wait for those
Wait why’re you comparing a future Intel card to last gen AMD and NVIDIA? Either way I’d probably say Used 6700 XT or 6750 XT
@@drew2626 cause nvidia is over priced and Intel is offering 12gigs of vram in the price of an rx 6600xt
Hey zach, thoughts on buying nvidia stock right now?
Good their not in a bad place if you are buying a lower priced card like 30 series or 4060 It is more worth it to just get a amd but if you want smt more high end than Nvidias additions like DLSS are definitely worth it
@ i already own nvidia cards i know all this, i meant stock market. Sorry i should have specified.
@ np and I would buy stock as Ai gets more prevalent and Nvidia being the main source it’s definitely a good investment
You forgot to talk about the bus, my 3060ti beats the 4060 often because of this
Also, VRAM helps a lot with the sales.
Yes it is a really good combo
@ thank you
Day six of asking:
I'm going to buy an ASUS ROG PG27AQDP (480 Hz, 1440P, 27", OLED). Currently, I have a Ryzen 7 5700G and a RTX 3060. What specs should I upgrade to in order to maintain 480 FPS in more competitive titles? (VALORANT, mostly FPS games and Fortnite as well - currently thinking of 7800X3D and a 4080. Thanks,
Well, with 7800 X3D and 4080 would be perfect, you’d get 400-500fps in most competitive titles.
That combo is already perfectly good, but if you’re looking at a regular 4080 you should consider different priorities. 4080 super, 7900 xtx and 7900 XT are all comparable and similar or better in fps per dollar.
4080 super + 7800X3D should be enough, through reccommend looking up benchmarks. it would be easier (on the gpu) to play val/fortnite on 1080p, and it also depends on if you want to play high or low graphics settings
well if ur mainly playing competitve games, then you could save a lil money by just weakening ur gpu since games like val barely use it anyways
I’d go 7700(X) with 7900 XT/XTX unless you feel like you need NVIDIA then go 4080 Super. From what I’ve seen the 7800X3D doesn’t make much difference at 1440p or higher
What GPU would you recommend for 2k? For fortnite, minecraft and cs2
For low end 1440p cards, 7700 XT, for the best 1440p performance, 7800 XT or 7900 GRE for AMD and 4070/ 4070 super for nvidia, and for highest end 7900 XT, 4070 ti super, 4080 etc.
@JonathonMarston thank you
Those games are CPU heavy, so a 7800xt would be overkill but good for future proofing. A 6800xt would also do well.
@@enceofthewind4145 whilst that is true, Minecraft with mods could use more vram, and for 1440p GPU does matter.
Zach I have GTX1650 super and ryzen 5 3600 what should I upgrade 1st

Rtx 3060 vs rx6600 which is better. You haven't listed the rx6600 in your chart in your website. Pls help
The 6600 is significantly better for “raw performance” however when enabling DLSS the nvidia card does surpass it however you will not have this benefit when doing things like 3D rendering so if your going to mostly game then unpopularly I would go with the 3060 however if you are doing anything else or playing a game that doesn’t suppourt DLSS the 6600 is still a fantastic card

ztt build help is great idea, but can you add cpu comparison chart, same as gpu one? i want to learn about amd's and would be great to be able to compare them with intel which im familiar with so i have some starting point
I wonder when we need a cpu cooler cooler cooler (a cooler that cools the cooler for a cpu cooler)
For editing, go with an intel CPU that has integrated graphics
Personally I’d avoid Intel like the plague (especially CPUs)
Can you convince my parents to let me get a Xbox series x 😢🙏

Hi there Zach! One quick question: what PC should I get if I really like extensively modding games such as Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption II and if I really want to get into hardcore game development in Unreal Engine 5 and the Unreal Editor For Fortnite without spending too much money, as my parents do not want me to spend that much money on just a gaming PC?
Should I upgrade my build with a rx 580 and Ryzen 5 2600
yes
Yes
The Ryzen 4070 has a lpt of VRAM tho
It has a good amount, not really a lot though
Core clock is also important and how many compute units it has
I have a question, what does GPU bottlenecks means, and yes I meant GPU.
Hey Zach. Any cards you'd recommend upgrading to for someone on a much older GPU right now? (For reference, I've had a GTX 1070 for 8 years now.)
is the RX 6400 a good upgrade from a GT 630 2GB?
Sure but should you buy a 6400? A new 6400 costs at least $130-$140 ish USD, for around the same price you can get a used 5700 XT with 8GB instead of 4GB which performs much better.
Day 7 of asking why most pre builds don’t say the mobo
My uncle is giving me a Thorzone Mjolnir build because he’s buying a new pc. Did I win the jackpot the only listing I found is for 700$

In theory yes but in practice not really at the end of the day you’ll bottleneck the GPU die on the 7600 XT long before you bottleneck the 7700 XT, also you’re definitely better off getting a used 6700 XT-6800 XT than a new 7600 XT
@drew2626 but what about future proofing 12 GB wont be enough soon and 16 GB can definitely help

Hey Zach! I’ve been struggling to find a good am4 cpu (amd) for 1440p with a good white gpu. Any suggestions?
You want a white GPU recommendation and 1440p AM4 cpu recommendation?
Well first, I’d say if you are building for the first time, go AM5, but if you are upgrading then AM4 is great.
Second, there are tons to choose from. GPU would matter much more for resolution- even a 5600 would still be able to work in 1440p if paired with a 4070 super. But, I would recommend to go with 5700x or 5800x, and if you can afford it 5800x3d (don’t know your budget so I can’t say precisely).
And for a white GPU, well there’s tons. My personal favourites are-
7900 XTX ASROCK TAICHI
7800 XT SAKURA
7800 XT SAPPHIRE PURE
For 1440p 7800 XT SAPPHIRE PURE is the sweet spot. You can find it for less than 500 in quite a lot of places. It looks absolutely incredible, 16GB vram and it’s got incredible performance in 1440p. 100+ fps in most games, solid 70-80 in graphically demanding. Really can’t go wrong with it.
@JonathonMarston alright man thanks! I’ll do some more research on this. Sadly there isint any 4 card option for Corsair dominator ram sticks for am5 😢

@@EmiratesGaming-lf8nm 4070 and 7600x is a great build! The 4070 is 7800 XT competitor, and while 7800 XT is cheaper, faster, and has more vram, 4070 is more power efficient, better upscaling, and better ray tracing. If you are doing just gaming I would say 7800 XT- the 16GB will be really useful for new games- I’m willing to bet that GTA VI will near 16GB. If you want ray tracing, go NVIDIA, if you are doing some sort of demanding program, then the 16GB could be useful or the NVIDIA features could be useful. Overall, I’d say the 7800 XT is better, but you can’t go wrong with either.
And also 7600x is a great CPU- incredible single core and great multi core. 6 cores, 4.7GHz max clock speed, only 100Ws I think and is pretty cheap. Can’t go wrong. Hope your build goes well!
