'My heart breaks': Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer addresses shooting death of officer Jacob Derbin

- Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer gave an update during a press conference Sunday on the shooting death of officer Jacob Derbin, who was shot and killed in the line of duty.
"Officer Derbin was proudly sworn into the Euclid Police Department on July 24, 2023," said Chief Meyer. "During his brief time with the department, he served the residents and business owners of Euclid, as well as his fellow officers, with dedication, honor and professionalism. His kind heart and enormous smile were infectious. The world was a better place with him in it, and he will be desperately missed by all who knew him."
Chief Meyer said his heart "absolutely breaks."
"He’s 23 years old. I want the public to understand what this looks like. I want them to understand the repercussions of this violence. It is absolutely disgusting and it is affecting us all. My heart breaks. I’ll also share that his father is also a Euclid police officer, a current Euclid police officer. So we’re dealing with multiple issues at the same time." --

R.i.p Jacob derbin. What a tragedy. Jacob was only on the force for 9 months. He truly was a good man. Thoughts and prayers to Jacobs family and to the Euclid police department and the city of Euclid. Things gotta get better !! Cleveland and it's surrounding suburbs are just completely outta control.
It's very sad. I know his Mom and used to work with her. I can't imagine the world she is in right now. His Dad worked with HIm in Euclid. MY GOD I can;t imagine.
Rest in peace Jacob. Being cop isn’t easy. It’s dangerous and you hope everyday that you can come home safe and sound. My condolences to the family
