    I must say your videos are very informative, what is the difference between using prism and EDM? I noticed when you are setting up with the EDM you didn't bother using the red light under the instrument to set it up.

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  3 роки тому

      Hi! Mostly on sites you will be using retro targets so there should be reflective tape target set on your EDM. In this type of resection you don't need a point - station to set the instrument

    Hello can you explain how to put down primary control points on a site?

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  4 роки тому

      Hi Jay Kay! You have to install your own targets (retros) and co-ordinate them (using survey program). You will need base information anyways, these might be UKPN nails around the site, or other points based on which you can do a resection.

    I am looking at doing a setting out course I’m a formwork joiner by trade how far can you go with just doing the setting out course ?

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  3 роки тому +1

      As far as you want really :) Once you start doing setting out the doors are open for everything. You will get experience and knowledge and step up. Engineer I worked with lastly was a damper driver who did a course and he's now engineer and he's really good, so everything up to you! I will be organizing some course soon as available courses not really teach you the site reality, but I want to make sure that after my course one can take an exam which gives them 'the paper'

    • @JoshGillespie1
      @JoshGillespie1 3 роки тому +1

      Where would your course be located and will you be doing it via citb

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  3 роки тому

      Not via citb yet, just want interested people to actually work with EDM in field. But there is a college where you can do exam only once you can use edm to get your surveying ticket and their course not getting you really ready to site while it's quite expensive.

    Hi Sir, I noticed you did not enter the instrument height. Thanks for your response.

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  2 роки тому

      Hi Edwin! In this case height is taken and calculated from targets I use for resection. If I would set up over a point with known height then I would have to add the instrument height to get correct set up level (right instrument level)

    • @edwincaneda4030
      @edwincaneda4030 2 роки тому +1

      @@SITENG Thanks Sir, now I understand that instrument height must be entered when setting up over a point with known height. I am a survey assistant only, we perform dimensional control survey of the structure we fabricate. Our surveyor always set the instrument height at 0.000, what is the impact on the survey result? Shooting point after another point, when he sees that the digital value of the level is around 0.0005 and above, he adjusts it so that it is near to 0.0000. Someone said it is a big mistake.

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  2 роки тому

      Hi! I don't really understand adjusting the height? 0.0005 is nothing. You have to speak with him, as I don't know exactly what are you doing guys there. Once your resection is done you shouldn't change anything, maybe he is intentionally cheating a bit on the surveys - which is possible.

    • @krukarlukasz3834

      @@edwincaneda4030 you cannot re-level your EDM during survey. If the EDM is out of level, you must do another set up, and then continue the survey. How do I know? - I did the same when I was a beginner ;)
      PS I agree with SITENG - out of level of 0.0005 in nothing to worry about - you would have to ask in your company what is ok and what is not)

    You fortgot to mention to stamp the legs before putting instrument on the tripod, in loose ground pushing it down might be not good enough.

    • @SITENG
      @SITENG  2 роки тому

      On the concrete I just set the legs and push them making sure they won't slide not stamping on the legs at this might only break them in this case. You are right on the loose ground we need more and I am always driving the legs fully in with the tripod wide open, stamping on the legs.(parallel to the leg unlike some ppl do - breaking the legs)
