Beautiful pens!!!
The Central is most likely part of Grand Central. The Grand Central Station postal annex was built in the early 1900s.
I hope you sign all your work! This is truly a work of art!
Great pen blanks mate, really inspirational. The possibilities are endless with those moulds ! Looking forward to UKIWS, another Woodturning road trip. Cheers, Jim
Hi Nick. Your vids are a lot of fun! One thing I might suggest is that you don't really need to put a CA finish on a resin blank. Sand the blank down using the micro mesh pads, then polish using a good plastic polish using some friction while the lathe is running. The resin polishes up very nice without the addition of CA.
You are very creative Nick...! Great job....Quite awesome....! May you and your loved ones have a great safe day mate....!
Nick, that Cigar pen, is to die for. I'm a tobacconist by trade. And you have given me a kick ass Idea.
I love it when a plan comes together.
The pens turned out great, Nick!
Very nice ,out of the box thinking with the cigar pen .
Cigar Pen is right in my wheelhouse. Very well done!
Love the quirky projects, keep em coming.
Wow I love the cigar pen! Looks cool.
I can tell your well proud of that project! Well done fella they look amazing 👍
Oh wow I really love them! I the weight in them look nice. I like my pens on the heavier side with a bold tip. They are both beautiful.
WOW... I really like those alot, Time to dig out my mini lathe, Pens are so fun to make, Thanks Nick!!!
great job Nick those both turned out awesome.
Nick those are AWSOME; thanks for all the great videos.
Really cool pens! Love watching your funky designs.
I am totally digging this project!
Nicely done, Nick...very creative! I like the way both pens came together, and might try turning one myself.
I truly need one of these cigar pens in my life!!!!
These look great!!!! Very unique!!!!
You are truly the mad man across the water
I have some stamps set aside to do exactly this. I can hardly wait! 😊
I like the idea of wrapping the tube with the tobacco leaf. I am just getting set up for stabilizing and casting and have been wondering the best way to do a cigar
The stamp in the middle is Scott# 1093, 3c School Teachers, from 1956. To my knowledge no known over print with "central" for that stamp. Most likely cancellation has the word central on it. If there is more wording might have more clue, but could be numerous locations. I so want to make a turned stamp pen, but don't have all the resin equipment yet.
Love the pens. Very original. Great work.
Excellent work again Nick!
Cool idea! That cigar pen is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Hey nick the Central stamp on your stamp pen is the post mark from the Central post office in New York City. They have 5 different sorting centers and that one is the Central one..hope this helps you out..Bill from Sunny Florida U.S.A.
Love watching your videos. Thank you
Loving both pens, especially the cigar one. Great work.
Hey Nick, great idea. Love the pens! I am going to have to get me a pressure pot and some molds. Be Safe.
That stamp pen is such a good idea and its beautiful!!
Awesome looking pens Nick. 👍
I really love that cigar one Nick! They're both nice, but I get to have a fav... lol.
Hope to be able to get to Makers Central!
Keep up the awesome!
Siberian Orange hey would be great to see you at the show ✌🏽👌🏼👌🏼
Awesome! Going to give the cigar one a go for a co-worker, he’s a big cigar aficionado
-Steven
Monopoly money one next or real money one would be great
Great work love the channel ! All the best
gavin merrigan hey great idea 😜👍🏽👍🏽
A money pen: perfect for signing checks
Zimbabwean money would be great to use, be cause they make them in denominations like a billion dollars and a trillion dollars. Due to hyperinflation, a billion Zimbabwean dollars is worth less than one U.S. cent (or very little, anyway; I’m going on memory here.
Shredded monopoly money would look cool!
Monopoly Junior or Travel Monopoly, so you can get more bills on the blank.
Wow! Love this idea! You should do more of this and keep trying other objects to turn into pens. You could even try making necklaces or keychains using this method as well.
You have some great ideas nick, keep it up
John Campbell thanks John sir
Nick Zammeti NZ WoodTurning why not make your own? Or would it have been more money for material and time than just buying it and shipping?
Awesome video! Hope Charlie's eye is healing well!
Nick Zammeti NZ WoodTurning if you could pick up some Cuban cigar brand stickers, you could make a bunch of chedda!!! It looks awesome with the cigar, without the sticker the cigar looked like a nice burl as well! Next time you could use some of the tobacco as well, might be able to get a curling effect or different slight color differences with the inner tobacco leaves.
No matter what those are awesome and they will be big sellers! Just search for a cigar club on Facebook or elsewhere and leave the photo, instant sale
Phillip Taylor hey thanks phill .. haha yeah I could do 😜👍🏽. Glad you liked the video mate take care
Nick Zammeti NZ WoodTurning Some other things that you could make with the cigar theme that I've never seen before. A cigar pen holder and a cigar "humidor" made out of resin and Red Spanish Cedar wood shavings. You could possibly make the edges filled with the shavings and cigar memorabilia and have windows on all the pieces of the box. I just know that red Spanish cedar is used in humidor's for the smell and the preservation of the cigars, ran across it on eBay lol... it'd be awesome to see an entire box made out of epoxy and clear hinges, not sure I've seen that before on UA-cam either, and you're always up for a challenge! That's what makes your channel so damn EPIC!!!
Not sure what goes into a humidor as I don't smoke cigars and if I did, I wouldn't be able to buy the expensive ones anyways 😂... Also, a stamp pen holder would look awesome as well! Would be able to get the variety of stamps from different countries and different people or things on the stamps. Not sure if your stamps have "special edition" stamps like America or not, we've had some wicked cool stamps like Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, and I think superheroes and cartoons!
I usually watch your videos on my phone, but watched this one on my pc because I wanted to see the detail. Very cool!
Brilliant, loved those pens, yet another idea to add to my project list when my workshop is done. Very classy pens. Andy Sussex, UK
The cigar one is genius!!!! My brother is an avid cigar smoker & id love to have one!!!!
Nick for sticking the stamps to the pen tube you can either use wallpaper paste or from any good crafting shop a product called Modge Podge (not certain of how you pronounce it). I do not know which side you fall on but there is a turner goes by the name "Woody Turner" and he makes loads of pens for the troops and is always happy to give help.
Amazing work! Who gives this guy a thumbs down?
Really cool! Love it! 🤩
Very creative, you the man keep on waffling
Two really superb pens Nick, great work mate.
Cheers
Mike
Fantastic work, they both look great!
Great video Nick love watching your videos like your humor you keep my attention. The air bubbles are comming from the glue out gassing try letting them set for a day to completly dry or seal them with a light coat of super glue first then pour them after 10 min. If you open an air bubble while turning fill with super glue. No need for super glue on out side of pen blank it will polish up with out it using a plastic polish like Hut pastic polish or us a automotive headlight restoring plastic polish.
I shared it on Facebook because you do amazing work!
Nick, this was a wonderful idea. You did a great job on the pens! Keep up the creative thinking.
"I always wanted to do that" that made me laugh
that stamp one is nice but that cigar one is awesome. I wonder what Alan thinks... ALAN
S Chase Alan !! 😂
Beautiful pens dude! 🤘😜👌
Heath Knuckles thanks dude 😜👍🏽👍🏽
Awesome work and video. Awesome idea, turned out great. An idea I have seen is when using a CA finish you would want to use non stick bushings usually made of a plastic so the glue won't stick and rise peeling off of the pen or glueing the pen blank to the bushing, in most cases with acrylic blanks CA glue finishes is not necessary.
Very cool! I like your unique ideas.
I don't know how you keep doing it but you hit another home run on this one.
Lee
Great video Nick, you keep bringing it. Thanks
hey Paxton, hope all is well. thanks mate
Both beautiful but as I'm a cigar chic I'll have to prefer the Clint Eastwood pen! 🇺🇸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Oh please sell these on your website!! I must buy one for my brother Clark! He collects cigars!
I'm not a pen sort of guy usually, but I think both those pens are great!
Well done mate,Dave
👍🍺
I been wanting to try casting my own blanks for some time now. Glad to see your video, they turned out great. You might have had some moisture near the cigar band, or air trapped in the wrapper leaf. Your possibilities are endless now with the molds and proper bushing. Yes, I have a rambling on problem also. or is it really a problem? Thanks for sharing
hello Nick, love the pen doing great on them. Tell Charlie hello. thank to both of you
The Old Man thanks old man . You take care 👍🏽
You are a gifted wood turner! I was wondering if you have ever tried to make miniature furniture? There are a lot of people who collect dollhouse furniture in the UK and USA and You seem to have a gift with shaping wood! I love your show and can't wait to see what you do next!
looks great & great ideas for pens, I'll have to try one of the cigar pens, for my brother!
Hi Nick. Difficult to understand why you used CA on a resin blank when one can achieve a polished glass finish on resin alone. If you do another stamp one I would suggest that you angle the stamps
and do a spiral wrap it will look so much better. I would also suggest that you turn one blank at a time. So much less chance of vibration with a shortened mandrel. Less vibration less chance of chipping.
Great pens Nick! Keep up the good work.!
you have a waffle problem! ?!?........Haaaaa a hysterical! !!!♡♡♡♡
Those are both so cool! Great job!
Awesome job Nick!! Those both turned out amazing!! Glad to see you continuing on with more pens, they're so fun to make =D
great vid Nick really enjoyed that 😀
Hi Nick Great videos. Watched you demo at the DM Tool show. Could could you tell me why you use a burner on the mould before putting it in the pot. Thanks.
These are both really cool man. I like the cigar one best but I guess that is because I smoke cigars. Great job man.
The cigar pen 😮🤩 Love your vids
nice video again mate I will definitely be going to makers next year
Nice work Nick once again, keep the ideas coming
Really nice nick your doing some fab things well done keep up the good work
hi nick ,love the pens ,great ideas.love the vids
Very cool pens Nick.
Hello Nick from Louisville, Kentucky. Great video. I really like the cigar pen!!!
~Scott
Hoosierchef70 hey thanks buddy
Hoosierchef70, Hoosiers are from Indiana, Louisville is in Kentucky... I'm confused. Hey for 20 miles south off the side of I-65 in Belmont, Ky.
Thomas Russell hey there neighnor!!! I grew up in Southern Indiana, and moved here about 13 years ago.
Hello Nick. I recently subscribed to you channel and enjoy your videos. You may have covered it already, but could you tell me or list the type of pressure pot you use or recommend for resin castings? Thank you and keep on waffling!
Nice one, keep on turning
Beautiful!
What brilliant pens, I love em. I don't know of anyone who comes up with such great ideas. Just wondering why the CA glue on Acrylic.? The acrylic is a super finish when polished without any coating. I can't wait to see what you're going to come up with next??? All the best.
I wonder if you could make a cigar pen body, that would fit a LAMY lx or al star converter... ( German pen maker, great stuff. But your woodworking is excellent!)
now that you have a pen blank mold how about doing a shaving and resin blank. maybe use 2 or 3 colors swirled together.
Nick, you videos have been a real inspiration. Thanks. Question. I've tried making this cigar pen a few times, but am having a devil of a time getting the cigar to wrap around the copper tube and stay. Small work area, glue gets on fingers and then when trying to roll it the paper pulls off. On this video you did most of this off camera. What kind of glue did you use and any chance you might redo this and show the "prep" process in more detail. Thanks mate. keep up the brilliant work.
Austerity reaches all! Nick now has to roll his Own! 😆😆😆
My guess would be Grand Central Station for the "Central" Stamp.
I think they turned out cool looking
nick! you're making me want to buy lathes, tools, and stuff...i love to make new stuff out of other stuff. i found your "...tools i use" vid.
Max Headroom!!! Those came out really nice. Not sure what the central refers to. Could be central anywhere really. I am guessing part of that stamped text was missing. - Heidi
very cool Nick!!
Plus it is central in the pen blank. Likely refers to Central Park in New York City.
The best ever I have to learn to do this ,can I buy one in the interim
Nick, where did you get the click pen and what style is it? I live making pens and I really like the looks of that kit.
very nice, and creative way to make something interesting.
OMG Nick what have you done mate? that second stamp you stuck on the insert was worth a lot of money!
Hi and enjoyed the video. I understood all except the pressure pot thing. Is that step necessary? Could it be made without pressuring?
