I think two cameras, one for each eye would be better, because with only one camera you get a 2D view. A stiffer stick on your back would also help, you'd get used to the view quicker and it wouldn't wiggle in all directions leading to motion sickness.

Definitely need a real fpv system to do this with. Also that rod is just not stiff enough which is definitely causing a huge amount of motion sickness.

You should try fpv drone. (Pilot controlled drone and you see all in a googles). They’re have no any delay. I guess delay is main problem.

This may have gone better with a drone video setup where there’s very little delay. Plus the movement of the pole must have been seriously disorienting
It was unreal how disorienting it was. Plus the 2 second lag made it almost impossible to predict where i was going😂

Like other people already said, you need to do this with an FPV system. Using a GoPro and a phone has waaaaay too much latency.

I lost it when he said there's a big delay. The experience of getting a camera to view an image on an external display without delay was a mission . Had to use micro hdmi ti usb capture card. It's not perfect but close enough.
A lower latency between the camera and goggles would be better. You may have to turn down the resolution or something. But its doable.
Actually have a drone follow you instead of the stick🤔and you wear the fpv goggles.
