I 100% agree, I feel they’re stiff, firm & the never softened up for me. I’m a painter & work in hospitals & have been wearing the same pair of Bondi 7’s for 4 years now & they’re still super comfortable, I’m very upset that they don’t make the 7 anymore!
Thanks for sharing mate. I have heard a lot of people who work in hospitals or are on their feet all days just love the Bondi. But they were just rubbish for me when it came to running. I do wonder why shoe companies keep tinkering with shoes after they have released a model that has been just so well received.
It's not just Bondi. The change in midsole from Speedgoat 4 - Speedgoat 5 was night and day. Never got used to how firm they'd made 'em. No idea what to buy now but don't think it'll come in a blue box.
@@colinstewart1432 Hoka redesigned the midsoles in all their shoes using a spray foam which has made them stiff around the edges and arch, lots of complaints from runners. Probably cheaper to produce but I’m not a fan, so disappointing!
Update: I’ve now logged 50 miles in my Bondi 8 and while I want to like them and do in fact like the design there are just a number of things that are not working for me. Number 1 is that I feel like they are so supportive that Im fighting the shoes during workouts. My times are most definitely slower in the Bondi 8, now that could also mean that the shoe is helping to develop new patterns that help me to get stronger when going back to my regular runners such as the AMAZING New Balance Rebel 3 but the Bondi 8 have not softened up and still feel far too firm despite what marketing has pushed us to believe. As mentioned before I will still use the Bondi 8 as a recovery walking shoe but as a runner it just does not meet my expectations. For others looking for ultra cush options I love my Nike Invincible Run 3s. Also I agree these shoes get HOT. I might try them again later this fall when the temps begin to dip but as a summer shoe this is a hard pass. Great video. Couldn’t agree more. Keep up the honest and insightful reviews!
Thanks for sharing mate. You sounds like me, we have been spoiled by the NB Rebels - a fantastic cushioned shoe. This video is still attracting so many comments, and the majority are of the similar opinion to ours. I like the Invincibles as well, but they are definitely an easy day recovery shoe due to their weight.
I understood that the Bondi 8 is for heavier weight runners such as myself 6’9” & 240 lbs. I’m the opposite of you, I crush softer shoes very quickly but so far the Bondi 8 is held up after 2 months compared to weeks like my other shoes.
Hi Shane, I have been told something along the same lines that the heavier runner will get more from the Bondi 8. Being a lightweight it just didn't work for me.
Totally agree with your thoughts on the plushness compared with the NB fuel cell foam. And, the Bondi will not soften up.....try the NB SC Trainer for your long runs...fuel cell foam and super breathable too.
Thanks for sharing Chris. I like the look of the NB SC Trainers. There are so many shoes that are just so inviting, my wish list is growing by the day. 👍☺
I have a pair of the Hoka Arahi 6... When I first wore them I was super disappointed, the foam felt really wooden. I didn't wear them that often but eventually I got around 40-50km in them and something changed in the foam, they became totally soft and squishy and are now one of my favourites. Have heard a lot of comments about the firmness of the Bondi 8 - I'm keen to get a pair and hopefully after a few kms they'll be the same as my Arahis.
I tried the Bondi 8 on the store today, I also expected more cushiony feeling than I got. What New Balance model did you refer to? Fuel Rebel version 2? I saw v4 but I did not see V2's out there.
I work at TAF here in Aus and Hoka Bondi 8s do sell well at my store but not what I'd pick for max cushion recovery shoes. Just firmer than the marketing though lots of customers love it. I sell the Bondis to a lot of retail or healthcare workers who walk or stand around a lot all day. Heavier runners also tend to respond well to the Bondi. I'd check out the Hoka Mach 5 with Hoka and go to other brands for the max cushion. I've really enjoyed the NB More V3 and I've just ordered the V4 with the decent industry discount I get instead of the Bondi. Just a shame our store won't stock the NB Mores but the 1080 v12 aren't too bad. Feel like they've out Hokaed Hoka.
Thanks for sharing mate. I'm glad there are others who feel the marketing is a little off with the Bondi 8. I'm a lightweight, so maybe I'm not getting the full value from them. I will check out the Mach range next time, I have heard some good reports about them.👍☺
I just got Hoka Bondi 8 coming from a Rincon 3. The Rincons seemed more cushy. Also, compared the to the Clifton 9 in the store, the Bondi were a less cushy. However, on the road, the Bondi feel cushy and just perfect for me. I'll never buy Rincons again cuz the outer sole wore out way too fast. I'm actually worried about the bondi 8 for durability. Time will tell.
Wasnt the robot called Robbie the robot? just bot the Bondi 8s and I absolutely love them. So much support, especially under the ball of the foot behind the toes. Absolutely incredible for walking and jogging. I weigh 200lbs, so I found this very supportive and not hard under my foot.
Thanks Jedi for the feedback on the Bondi 8s. I just couldn't get them to work for me and my 70kg/155 pound frame. Shoes are such a personal choice and what works for one runner may not work for another. Keep on enjoying them. And, I didn't think the robot actually had a name, but happy to go with whatever.
The robot was just called "Robot." Robbie the Robot was a different one, from a movie and then as a guest robot on many other shows, including one episode of Lost in Space.
I love my Bondi 8 shoes and enjoy walking and wearing them daily to do everything. Great all around comfortable shoe. Hoka does not really say they are made for racing or hard core running. They seem to be for rehab and relaxed slower runs. The running shoes are the Rincon and Mach 6. They also have some others that are even better for racing. At least that’s the word on all,the UTube channels from runners. To me they are good for walking. I’m not a runner at all.
Yeh I’m glad i didn’t buy it full price and I got it brand new at a thrift store. These things are are 165$ walking shoe. These vs my Mach 6 are not even close. The Mach is light and responsive, the Bondi feels just as heavy as my Jordan 11s. I throw them in the rotation to extend the life of other pair
I really do recommend that you let them break in, run in them, lift in them, train in all different ways in them, there is a much harder sole to the bondi, yes, but this allows for a decent energy return when running which makes YOU feel lighter in them once you break them in. Those NB fuel cells you showed were clearly broken in well, which may lend to a softer feeling sole. As a rower who cross trains with running and lifting, I find this shoe to be a good weight, and the heel/toe drop is perfect for me. I totally understand your criticisms though. 🤙
Thanks for sharing. I put almost 200k into the shoe and they just didn't suit me. I always say shoes react differently for different people. Some have loved the shoe, but a lot have hated it.
Midsoles have changed so much in the past few years. Hoka is falling behind in their road running shoes. My SpeedGoats are still the king for the trails through.
Love the Speedgoats Triumph, I'm on to my second pair. The only Hoka shoes in the road running stakes I have really enjoyed has been the Clifton 1s - they were brilliant. The Rincons were OK, but found they went a bit dead after a couple of hundred clicks. 👍☺
Nike Invinsibles is the shoe you need. I have ran in the Bondi, NB more V3 and Invinsibles. Invinsibles are easily the best cusioned and def very bouncy. Also good fun to run in so I'd def recomend you try them out.
Totally agree have run in Hoka's (and many others)for the last 7 years or so and never thought I would change then I tried the Invincible and was blown away, lighter faster and so much more bouncy and fun to run in.
@@runwithwoody Can't wait to see it.Just dome a 17 mile slow run in them today and my feet and legs felt great at the end (unlike the rest of me 😀)when using the Bondi on that type of run feet felt like bricks at the end!The only thing I like more about the Bondi is your feet feel totally locked down more than any other shoe I have worn. The invincible feels average in this area and is only really happy on the road or good quality tracks. But I absolutely love them !
I've run a lot recently in the clifton 7 and 8 and Rincon 2 and rocket X. I really find the foam to be hit and miss. Had a magic pair of clifton 7s in blue. Super soft feeling midsole. Got the black and white pair and they were firm. Got all black clifton 8s and they were nice and soft and bouncy. Personally I think Hoka is a shoe that will perform or not depending on the batch. Rebel v2 for me was a bit thin on the forefoot. Ended up bottoming out after 6km or so. Best all round cushion shoes this year have been the NB More v3 and invincible 2. Particularly invincible 2 is a must have in the rotation.
Thanks for sharing David. I have just started to run in the Invincibles and I agree with you. I also agree on the Hoka, they can be a bit hit and miss. Not sure why, but it is strange how similar models react and can be so different.👍☺
Bought my first pair of HOKA in December 2022, they were Bondi 7, I worked in them for 1 Year, the best shoes I have ever owned for work...still had good cushioning after 12 months...soles kept their shape like no other shoe I have owned... December 2023 I bought HOKA Bondi 8, They are good shoes, but the Bondi 7 have far better cushioning...
Great to hear they work for you Luca. Like I always say, everyone will get a different experience from a particular shoe - some will like, others won't. Happy running in them.
I have put about 6 miles into my new pair of bondi 8. I did not find them overly stiff but I know that these shoes tend to soften up as you put more miles into them. Perhaps the extra lbs that I am carrying is making it more soft for my ride. Right now I rotate all of my 🏃♂️ shoes so they take a while to break in well. Hope your experience gets better over time.
Hi Frank. I know a lot of people who are on their feet for hours at work and wear these shoes, and I have heard from other that they are a comfortable walking shoe. I suggest try a pair on before you buy.
I've had a pair of Gaviotas for a while and just got the Bondi 8's, and I couldn't agree more with your review. I was expecting a softer shoe than the Gaviota, but not only are they just as firm they feel like they correct my step as well. They're quite comfortable and good looking, and I'm not complaining at all but I expected a more "Nike React"-type foam.
Yeah mate, not what I had expected. Great shoe for walking in or if you're on your feet all day, but when it came to running they were a massive flop for me.
@@mrcoolorhot8595 honestly ... I got some for my boss, and she has fallen arches, and hokas might not be for her. I love them and for me they're the best, but if you go to a place that sells them you can try them on!! They have a YEAR trial also. Best of luck.
Agree with your assessment Neil. Hoka are way behind the competition, these are firm and lifeless. My shoe of the year is the ON Cloudmonster, it’s absolutely incredible and worthy of the hype You would love that shoe ❤
Thanks Ian, glad I'm not the only one. The Clouds, interesting, I have had a few people mention to me how good they are. Should I? Not sure the bank balance will stretch that far at the moment. 👍☺
Hi mate. Shoes are a personal choice. I hope they work for you. It wouldn't be my choice for a race shoe or to be used for progressive pace. I found the shoe to be hard and unresponsive. Hope you have better luck with it.
Fun fact bro! My name is woody and I wanted to see a goal review for the HB8 and stumbled upon your page. I’m getting into distance runs and love the page so far. Be well #newsub
I have Hoka Bondi 6, 7 and 8. Hoka 6 were by far the softest running shoe (my favorite), as promised by Hoka. The midsoles are getting harder since 7; and 8 being the hardest but best fitting. I also have Clifton 7, a little faster but not as supportive as Bondis. If this trend continues, I will look for other shoes with lower drop.
Hi Karan, it's really surprising how many runners feels the same way as you with the Bondi range. I wonder if Hoka will take on board what runners are saying or just continue on its own path.
I have been running in Bondi's since Bondi 5. Bondi 7's were horrible and hurt my ankles. I returned them. My Bondi 8's have been great until this last pair I purchased last month. Something changed. This pair feels more firm...like the Bondi 7. Ankles sore after just a 5 mile run. I have 6 pairs of the early Bondi 8's, but I've worn most of them down pretty good...will look to get a different running shoe for my rotation. I'm a Hoka fan so I might look at the new Clifton 9. I'm 72 years old, 5'9" and 170 lbs. I run about 35-40 miles a week. Race 5K's with my Saucony Endorphin's. Any suggestions for other running shoes?
has anyone had a problem with blisters in the part of the arch? because of the inside sole being very hard on the sides ? I had done several run with my bondi 8 but today I tan a half marathon and got a horrible blister in the part of the arch :( looking for suggestions?
I ran a 4 mile today and my right side sole just below the big to was heating up. I initially thought I might hv not worn the shocks correctly. But if i was to run little more than 4 mile, i would hv got blisters too. This was my first run with Bondi 8..
Danger Will Robinson, danger!!! 😂😂 Yeah the Bondi does soften up just a little bit but they aren’t squishy no! I do like them for very long runs at an easy pace but frankly would prefer the Clifton. The Bondi is my go-to when I’m gonna be on my feet all day, like being a tourist and visiting museums, but I far prefer the Novablast for recovery runs, which are like balm to sore legs!!
Interesting Neil. I run in clifton 7 and 6, with 6 my fave. Need another pair so was going to get the 8. Was the marketing on the bondi that got you over the clifton, or just once bitten twice shy?
Hi Peter, I loved the Clifton 1s and by the time I got back to trying that range again it was up to the 5s and 6s, but they just didn't compare. I wasn't keen to go back to the Cliftons, so opted for the Bondi. Yes, the marketing did influence me.👍☺
I have 2 Hokas.., I bought the Clifton 7, when that first came out.., my first dabble in the Hoka range. I don’t go back until the Mach 5 came out. I didn’t buy the Mach 5 though.., I instead purchase the Mach 4 on deep discount.., so there is that. I like the Mach, better than the Clifton. Good luck with the bondi 8
Thanks for sharing mate. I have heard there wasn't much difference between the Mach 4s and 5s, so you got yourself a bargain. Hope they work well for you.👍☺
Nike Invincible Run Flyknit 2 is everything I thought Hoka was going to be (but isn't) - super soft like a max-stack rebel, bouncy like running on soft little cloudy trampolines. Unfortunately a bit heavy, and the upper is not very breathable, but the midsole is something else!
Daniel, I have had one run in the Invincibles (a video is coming). Pretty much agree with what you said about them , but there midsole is what I need.👍☺
Hi Neil, I have had the Hoka Bondi 8 for a few months now and have chalked up 132km in them, I also have Bondi 7 for about the same distance. I much prefer the Bondi 8 for comfort and performance. The wide fit is perfect for my feet size. I have not noticed any issue with heat but will take note in future and I intend to use them in the GC50 in December so that will be a real test of how they do in the midday Qld summer sun! The only downside I found with Bondi8 was the grip was not to good in wet/damp. I am quite a fan of the Hoka shoes for trail running. The Hoka Challenger ATR6 got me through the UTA100 and the Hoka Speedgoat5 got me through the BTU110 with some very loose, slippery steep conditions along Township Break. I am thinking of using the Speedgoats for my TUM102 in February, but I will be weighing them up against some other trail running shoes I have before I make my final call in Febraury
Thanks for sharing Alan. I'm onboard with you on the Speedgoats, they will probably be my shoes for Tarawera as well, but might be keen to try something else beforehand. I'll be interested to see how the Bondi 8s go in the wet, but i reckon they will be nice and heavy when the shoe does get wet. Everyone has a different feel for shoes, and what works for someone may not work for the next person. I always say if you find a shoe that works, then stick with it. See you in NZ.👍☺
Hey Tom, it's hard to suggest shoes for others. My advice is, get to your local running shoe and try a heap on and see what feels best. For me, I love the Novablasts from Asics and I've enjoyed the Kinvaras from Saucony, and the Rebels from New Balance.
Hey mate, I haven't been in a Hoka shoe since this bad experience, so I may not be the best person to ask. I honestly haven't even looked at those shoes you suggested. My advice, go and try them both on in a runners' store and see if they are OK for you. 👍
Can you nameva shoe that has around this thick of cushion but the spftness of the nb fuelcell rebel v2? Im new to shoe market cuz recently took up walking hobby. I tried on the nb freefoam more v4 today.. think it was softer but the front of the foot had less foam which i didnt like. I like how the hoka has what feels like even thicker foam for front of foot but yea wish it was lot softer
Hey mate, I have been out of the shoes loop recently after having some time off running, but there does seem to be a lot more selection in the max cushion shoes now. I haven't had a real good look yet, but will do soon, so if I get something I'll let you know on the channel.
I should have used that in the video, Ray...... "Danger Danger Hoka Bondi 8" ..... I thought it was Will Robinson, but just couldn't remember the name at the time Yes, it was a good show back then..👍☺
Thank God, somebody who says something about Bondi 8 that makes sense. They are really stiff, you cant even squish them, that hard the foam is.. I am using Asics for a longer time now, and even mid range Asics are far far better then any higher end Hoka.. They just dont do it for me :( Though i must say front part of the snicks is quite decent, but heels are horrific.Sorry for some butchered english words :D
My research indicated that the Hoka Bondi 8 is a walking shoe or “recovery” shoe not a true “speed” or running shoe for racing. It’s for older guys like me who just want to walk a lot. I find them extremely comfortable and very cushy. They are are excellent for long walks.
That sums up this shoe perfectly. A lot of walkers use it, as well as people who are on their feet a lot for work. But when it comes to running for me, it's a disaster. And in no way is there a speed or race shoe.
That's exactly what I'm after, currently have the ahari 6 wide which are great but have read the Bondi are a bit firmer especially if you don't want the big toe extending
I couldn't agree with you more. I have Hoka Bondi 7's (eeee), Hoka Bondi 7 (ee), and a Hoka low boot (kaha?) from the last generation. Just received a new pair of Bondi 8's to replace the last gen model, which I've worn into the ground. The new ones are comparatively awful, and they're going right back. The prior Bondi 8 model (mine are 2 years old, and I use for walking and daily use) was substantial, multilayered material, very soft and comfortable sole, very comfortable around the ankle, thoughtful ergonomics and clearly built to last with quality in mind. The new Bondi 8 that I'm returning is overpriced garbage by comparison. The new model uses basically 2 materials: a thin mesh top and a stiff though high sole. The tread pattern is entirely different, the materials clearly cheaper (albeit with more Hoka 'branding'), and the the toebox (I should be an EE in these), incredibly narrow. In short, I suspect the first were made by people who care and the second by a company that became popular and turned itself over to the accountants. I suppose I'm somewhat angry simply due to my disappointment; thought I'd found a perfect forever shoe and brand as my feet are flat and troublesome and these took care of all of that. Lesson learned - I'm actually looking for old models of the Bondi 8 and looking into new brands. A shame. But your video was terrific! ;) Cheers!
Thanks for sharing Larry, and you are not alone with your disappointment. Many others have felt the same way. I did an update to this video and in it I said I would never buy another Hoka shoe. Too many misses for me from Hoka to warrant me going back to them. ☺👍
@@runwithwoody Agreed - I actually just fixed a typo above - the EE's were Bondi 7's too. Terribly disappointing, and I also ordered a pair of the Bondi SR for work and the sole on them is pretty much a hard squeaky boot - going back as well. The good news, albeit temporary, is that I did find a pair of the black bondi 7's in 13EE and ordered them, but while I wear them down, I'm going to have to find a wide toebox, soft soled but supportive alternative. If you come up with any ideas, please review!
I had the Hoka Bondi 6 and gaviotas, great shoes. But I was disappointed in the Bondi 8. They are to stiff and the high arch rubbed my feet sore. I ended up exchanging for a Bondi 7.
I just came from the website the shoe finder suggested this shoe only. So here I am. I will say I don't run ever I only walk as fast as I can. I do like Skechers for walking but the rubber on the soles wear so quick I believe they maybe too soft. I'm considering a hoka for something different and heard it's one of the best brands. I did buy a pair of new balance used the machine at a new balance store and bought the size it said I wear unfortunately it made my big toe black so it was too tight I guess. I did buy a 4e which is extra wide (my normal size). If I ever try New Balance again I will probably just go a size up but it sure upset me as no other shoe ever has caused me a black toe!
Hi mate, I would guess these Hokas would be fine for walking. A lot of runners don't have a problem with them, but there have been many (myself included) that just thought they were awful. A lot of working people who are on their feet for long periods of time and using these shoes.
I couldn’t agree with you more. I was disappointed with the shoe overall. Not sure what everyone is talking about when they mention the cushioning. Its just not a soft run. Supportive yes, but cushioned no. A better walking shoe than I running shoe to be sure.
Thanks for sharing mate. Your words are a common theme in the comments to this video. The shoes just haven't worked for a lot of runners. They turned me off Hoka for good.
I had a pair of Clifton 6, absolutely loved them and put about 1000km into them. My replacement was a Hoka Bondi 7 and just can't get onboard with them. I have no problems with the comfort and midsole, they just feel flat/dead/heavy to run in for me. I'm not sure if the ultra-plush midsole really is what makes them feel dead to me or if it is the weight - Clifton 6 were 255gm whereas the Bondi 7 were 325gm. I'm now running in Saucony Endorphin Speed, have gone through two pairs of v1 and am into my first pair of v2 now and really enjoy them - for reference they are 240gm in a size 10.5.
Thanks for sharing Alistair. I'm onboard with you with the Saucony Speeds, love that shoe, but I have had to put it aside while I work through this heel issue. They seem to aggravate it, whereas I don't have any dramas with other shoes.👍☺
@@runwithwoody One thing I noticed about the Saucony Endorphin Speed (both versions) is the heel is very wobbly/unstable to __walk__ in. I am a mid-foot striker so I never notice it but I've wondered if people who heel strike would notice it or not. If you heel strike, maybe that little bit of instability is enough to overuse your ankle/muscles/tendons/etc?
Hi mate, thanks for the comment. I never had an issue with comfort of fit with the Bondis, it was that I found them very firm for running - they were very unforgiving. For anyone on their feet for long periods of time, they seem to work a treat. They just didn't suit me for what I needed them for - running!
Friend convinced me to buy a pair of Hokas, saying that everyone loves them. I hate them because they throw me off balance there's just too much shoe on the bottom. I find them to be very awkward to wear. I actually tripped and fell wearing these shoes.
I used to refer to them as clown shoes. Seriously, I hope you didn't hurt yourself too badly with your fall. I think the Hoka range is an acquired taste, but having said that there shoes looked to have improved heaps over the past couples of years. 👍
Same here. They were recommended by my podiatrist for plantar facitis. I'm in Healthcare and wore them one time and my calves and top of my foot were so sore. I'm returning them tomorrow.
I totally agree. They are comfortable and you can use them for every type of run. The Bondi 8 kind of limited to easy runs but...if you go to the mall with your wife...take the Bondi 8's with you. Your feet will thank you.
I love the reference Neil! Lost in Space is my all time favorite show. It was originally on from 1965-1968. I used to watch it after school back in the day. We're probably of the same vintage. Being a big Altra fan, I just ordered their new, max cushioned shoe, the Via Olympus. 33m flat stack. I'm very interested to see how it goes. ( Another tv show I used to like as a child was an Australian show called "Skippy the Bush Kangaroo". It was popular here in the states.)
Wow, the 1960s.... I didn't think it was that far back. And yes, Skippy was hugely popular when I was a kid. The Altra range has always fascinated me, but I'm yet to run in one of their shoes. I will be interested to see how you find it.👍☺
I prefer a stiffer, firmer shoe as they WILL loosen up after a few runs. I can’t stand super spongy shoes as they just destroy my heels and cause my big toe joint to swell up.
I too am disappointed. Sure it looks nice and has a very comfortable upper but I was expecting the (redesigned) midsole to be an 'upgrade' compared to v7. Well it's not, it has a very very different feel to it: firmer than v7 and not in a good way. The first thing that struck me is how different my steps sound compared to v7 on the same running surface and comparable pace. I know v7 as a very silent shoe, esp on surfaces like asphalt, v8 sounds like I'm slamming my feet on the ground. Overall I'm finding the ride to be quite uncomfortable, making me measurably slower for a given level of effort. Not happy.
Thanks for sharing, and you seem to be experiencing the exact same as me. It's not a shoe I have warmed to, and in a video coming up I give my final thoughts on the Bondi 8s.☺👍
These shoes were great until I started feeling the bump on the arch on the inside of my left foot this morning. Disappointing to say the least because I only wear these on my days off and wear my Clifton 9s at work and don't have the same issue.
@@runwithwoody Such an odd thing to be happening right now after being on vacation with them and doing a lot of walking they were great . Now I wouldn't run or walk in them with what feels like a bump in the arch. I've ordered different insoles that will hopefully dampen the issue in the arch.
Hey mate, don't stress. Like I always say in any shoe video I do - what works for one runner, may not work for another. Shoes are such a personal choice. Unfortunately, the Bondi 8s did not work for me, hopefully they are better for you. 👍

Hi Steve. I have my fingers crossed the Bondi 8s will go the same way. I don't mid running in them, but would just like them to be a touch softer.👍☺
Agree,I like to get 50km on any of these foams before before judging them, they do soften and smooth out in my experience.
I tried the Bondi 8 on the store today, I also expected more cushiony feeling than I got. What New Balance model did you refer to? Fuel Rebel version 2? I saw v4 but I did not see V2's out there.
Hey mate, yeah they were the Rebels, probably v2 when this video came out. The v3 are just as good. I haven't tried the v4s yet.
You are not alone. I found them to feel too hard.
Hi Billy, there are several runners who feel the same way.
I think this model of Hoka is just for everyday, means for walking, not for running.
I have got to agree with you mate.
@@rembo183how are the bondi 8 for rainy days? When it’s heavy raining or everything is wet on the road? Can you still walk normal?
Funny you say that Daz. I have the Invincibles (video coming soon). Had just one run in them so far...👍☺
I think you and Daz have hit the nail on the head.👍☺
So many people loved the 7s, but comments for the 8s were far less favourable. 👍
Danger Will Robinson!!!
Absolutely mate. Not my favourite!
My bondi 8 break in after the third run and suddenly they were not stiff anymore
I have my fingers crossed Jeff for that softness to kick in. I'll take them to 150-200k before I really make up my mind.👍☺
I don't run but I do weigh 190lbs and my Bondi 8 are the best I have tried. However I just tried some Ghost max shoes and I am wanting those instead!
I have flat feet are they good for over pronation? I don’t run at all, just looking for something good for walking and standing
Hi Frank. I know a lot of people who are on their feet for hours at work and wear these shoes, and I have heard from other that they are a comfortable walking shoe. I suggest try a pair on before you buy.
Bondi SR is a good option for work, a slip resistant version of the 7. New balance 928 also is said to be good as a supportive walker.
Which pne would you prefer for a wide and flat-footed? Gaviotas or Bondai 8? Thank you.
My shoe of the year is the ON Cloudmonster, it’s absolutely incredible and worthy of the hype
You would love that shoe ❤
Thanks Ian, glad I'm not the only one. The Clouds, interesting, I have had a few people mention to me how good they are. Should I? Not sure the bank balance will stretch that far at the moment. 👍☺
They take a while to break in. Depends how light you are as well. They're not a running shoe though.
Totally agree. 👍
i just bought it, i'm going to use it on 10K race. Is that suitable for progressive pace?
Hi mate. Shoes are a personal choice. I hope they work for you. It wouldn't be my choice for a race shoe or to be used for progressive pace. I found the shoe to be hard and unresponsive. Hope you have better luck with it.
@@runwithwoody thanks for the response, sir. i think i just use this for my 10K training shoes. for the race i think my old pure foam shoe is enough
Fun fact bro! My name is woody and I wanted to see a goal review for the HB8 and stumbled upon your page. I’m getting into distance runs and love the page so far. Be well #newsub
Hey fellow Woody, great to have you onboard. Hope the Bondi 8s work better for you than they did for me. Good luck with your running. 👍
I sent mine 8's back and stocked back up on the Bondi 7's. If Hoka can't get back to the 6 or 7 I'm gonna have to find another shoe.
I'm with you Sarah, may Hoka patience is just about gone.☺👍
Hopefully you get get to the bottom of the problem. No blister concerns for me. Just don't like the shoes.
I love the Novablasts, Bev. I have had a few more runs in the Bondi 8s, and I'm just not sold on them. I don't think they are going to soften up.☺👍
@@runwithwoody Yeah, well lots of runners hate them, say they're a brick!😂😂 Maybe try them as a walking shoe, as I said I do love them for walking!
Any advice for a good trainer for long slow miles ? For a fast runner
Hey Tom, it's hard to suggest shoes for others. My advice is, get to your local running shoe and try a heap on and see what feels best. For me, I love the Novablasts from Asics and I've enjoyed the Kinvaras from Saucony, and the Rebels from New Balance.
@@runwithwoody ok thanks for that😉
Hi! Clifton 9 or bondi 8? Thaks
Hey mate, I haven't been in a Hoka shoe since this bad experience, so I may not be the best person to ask. I honestly haven't even looked at those shoes you suggested. My advice, go and try them both on in a runners' store and see if they are OK for you. 👍
I put about 400 miles in the Bondi 7 and it never softened up. I thought it might be better for heavier runners.
I am still waiting.☺👍
Actually it's, "Danger! Danger Will Robinson!". Perhaps that is the message for this shoe 😂
Thanks for sharing mate. It's been a consistent theme with all comments for this shoe. It was just a shocker! 👍
Thanks for sharing Jennifer. The Bondi 8s haven't been a good shoe for a lot of runners.
hi how do u compare the bondi 8 to the clifton 8? thank uu
Hi mate, I haven't run in the Clifton 8s and have no desire to. The Bondi 8s were awful.
Can you tell me how the Bondi 8 works for rainy days and wet road?
Sorry, I can't. I didn't have the shoe long enough to find out.
I love the Bondi 7. The Bondi 8 just felt too firm and even tighter on the upper. Wanted to love the 8s but a big step back from the Bondi 7 imo.
Cheers mate for that feedback. I had a similar experience. These shoes are no longer with me.
I sent mine back it was like walking on lumber. No give or squishy feeling at all
I don't blame you, they were rubbish.
HOKA Bondi 7 where the best shoe I have owned for work...
Many people have similar sentiments to you about the Bondi. Very popular shoe for workers on their feet for long hours. 👍
YAY MR ROBOT
Not my favourite shoe.
What is the name of the color?
I would have said just blue, but according to an outlet's website it's BELLWETHER BLUE BLUING.
I’m looking at a new shoe and like the reviews of saucony speed 3. They are said to have much improved heel stability.
Please forgive me, the shoe is not supposed to squish down, hokas are for comfort, over all wellness and let go! 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
i just bought the bondi 8. My rincon 2 is plush in comparison.
The cushioning in those 2 shoes is like chalk and cheese. The Rincon is much more forgiving.
I just recieved my pair and lm kind of feeling disappointed. I work long hrs and I thought these would be the best but they feel stiff.
Yep, that's exactly how they were for me.
Same here. They were recommended by my podiatrist for plantar facitis. I'm in Healthcare and wore them one time and my calves and top of my foot were so sore. I'm returning them tomorrow.
The Hoka Mach 5 is easily their best shoe! I highly recommend trying it!
Agreed. I love my Mach 5 's. I have a pair of Bondi 7 's which I use for casual wear. The ASICS Novoblast 3 is my favorite shoe.
Thanks Guy, I should have gone that way.👍☺
Have to agree with you Ray on the Novablast 3 (video coming). I have had a couple of runs in them.... they're back!👍☺
I totally agree.
I found these firm, but others have found them to be the opposite. Stay clear of the NB Rebels - they are super spongy!
I love my Hoka Bondi 8, just not that much for running. 🙂
Hoka is a great brand, but these shoes didn't work for me in any way. They have for many others, and then there are runners who feel the same as me.
Danger Will Robinson. Danger.
Too right!
They feel like two concrete blocks attached to my feet
I feel the same way James.
If you have Morton’s neuroma this shoes are amazing.
Appreciate you sharing. 👍
shoes looks heavy with good cushion. You need to get faster shoes like Rebel v4, SC Elite, Boston 12, Superblast, etc.
I hoped these would be a recovery shoe, but they were 💩 I have some of those shoes you mentioned, just older models.
These shoes were great until I started feeling the bump on the arch on the inside of my left foot this morning. Disappointing to say the least because I only wear these on my days off and wear my Clifton 9s at work and don't have the same issue.
I think it's a personal choice with this shoe - some love it, some don't. For me, one of the worst shoes I have run in.
@@runwithwoody Such an odd thing to be happening right now after being on vacation with them and doing a lot of walking they were great . Now I wouldn't run or walk in them with what feels like a bump in the arch. I've ordered different insoles that will hopefully dampen the issue in the arch.
Naah mate, like car tyres/tires the Hokas should do their job from day one! Corleone, G.
I could not agree more mate.
Bondi's feel like bricks to me. I was disappointed as well because I like how they look.
Many others felt the same as you. I was taken by the hype, but they failed to deliver for me. 👍
Me watching after i just bought them: 🥺
Hey mate, don't stress. Like I always say in any shoe video I do - what works for one runner, may not work for another. Shoes are such a personal choice. Unfortunately, the Bondi 8s did not work for me, hopefully they are better for you. 👍
@@runwithwoody im just a footballer looking to run 2-3km a few times a week, i Can still return Them, but now that im not running that far but Maybe in a faster pace, do u Think i should return Them and get the ASICS something (i dont remeber the name but it’s a completely different shoe, (like a normal comfortable shoe)much more flat than the bondi and with gel, I tried them both but took these bc they “looked like running shoes”😂🤦♂️
@@amirstaiti4990 Hey mate, give them a try, they might be OK for you. I'm a bit of a lightweight, but some heavier runners (not suggesting you are) have said that they work and feel great. You are not going to know until after you have tried them a few time.
Yes they are not comfortable. In fact I feel like they hurt my feet.
Sorry to hear that. I didn't suffer from sore feet, but these shoes just had no life!
You found the Bondi 8s to be firm??! 😮 what the heck more do they need to do😂 it’s like the princess feeling a bean under 17 mattresses
You are not going to like a video coming up then!☺👍
@@runwithwoody haha
I skip the hokas. Not works for me
The road shoes are a definite NO for me, but their trail shoes seems to work OK for me.
Very disappointed with them. Like running in soft sand. No energy return. Have 60km done now. And no better.
These shoes have long departed my house.
I have the 8 and the bondi that was before it and the 8 is way harder I do not like it as much.
You are definitely not alone. A real shocker. 👍
1968!
There were shoes in 1968 better than these!
1970s
Worse.
You are too skinny for that shoe, you need propper speed shoes. Bondi shoes work best for heavier runners.
Yep, no doubt. I have heard from heavier runners that they are OK. No good for this lightweight.
I think clifton 9 is much more good feeling
This shoe turned me off Hoka, I haven't been back since. 👍
