- John Deere 1050K, equivalent to a Caterpillar D9 dozer being transported by lowbed out of the Las Vegas convention center by Paul DeLong heavy haul.

I was a heavy equipment Cat mechanic from c 1971 until the late '80s. I worked for Alban Tractor in the Sprinfield area of VA. Around '76 the company treated all the mechanics to the ConExpo in Chicago. The largest machines Cat had there were a 988 and a 777 off-highway truck; it had two small pick-up trucks side-by-side in the dump bed. The biggest machine I saw there was a Hough International rubber-tired loader with a 21-yard bucket, powered by twin diesels. There was also an impressive excavator that could dig down to 90', but I can't remember the manufacturer's brand. It was for me an unforgettable experience.
Hats off to the the heavy haul driver! Exceptional backing skills! Hell of a nice trailer!
Thanks for the video. 👍
anybody else more impressed by that crazy trailer than the bulldozer?
Thats why im here
ME!!
My guess is that there is no place big enough to park it, so they just keep driving it 24/7.

@@larsanderson3072 I worked on bigger in the coal mine where i worked !! the trailer was very impressive
I've hauled the 1050 for 1year and it's a badass machine. Sitting at an angle is unusual but cool. 13'11" wide on the blade allows for a no car pilot.
Never ceases to amaze me at man's ability to design and build machinery to make life just a little bit easier to produce massive amount of work...! Thanks for producing an ECXELLENT Vid...! Gordon
Yeah real nice destroyer of things
John Deere rolls out it's buggest bulldozer, Komatsu and Caterpillar say, "hold my beer"
How bug is the buggest, is it bug enough to be able to say bugger that?
Why do we just love this stuff ?? Just a great feeling of satisfaction. Thanks
What a great video. Amazes me how these pros can maneuver these behemoths with such an ease in enclosed spaces. I have trouble with a bicycle, for God’s sake.
When u spend every waking moment of your day operating them, it's a cake walk. The only way to get better, is seat time.
i am amazed of the drivers skills
You have to name it Operator ,
Very skillfull
Best reversing I've ever seen, awesome what a driver
those guys know their business... absolutely professional! the way to upsaddle the lowbed on the dolly is tecnical much more easy, needs much less hydraulic hoses and installations, but works only great in dry conditions when the truck has traction under his tyres. in icy or muddy conditions would be a big problem without strrong pushing help..
We tried 2 1050s and after 3 years sold them. The 90s model D10s would out work and had a lot less down time. We now have T model 10s
I appreciate the time and effort required to share videos. Thank you for this one featuring excellent technical quality and camera handling. The video lets us see something you don't see everyday. How else would a regular person get the chance to see how this type of logistics is handled?
An important item of note for me is the back-up beepers-or lack thereof. The bulldozer is using the much more world friendly type that is slowly finding increasing use. This type is area specific (directly behind the machine) and set to reasoned level. For way too long the world has been subjected to warnings that a vehicle three blocks away is backing up. Note that the truck isn't using a beeper at all. Somehow, everyone lived to see another day. Only the micro sized fork lift is fitted with an old school screamer. I feel better for unloading. Thx.
Cheers from Vancouver, BC.

That lowboy is more impressive than the Dozer lol.
thing is a mazing
I agree. Cats d11 are much larger
Jajajajajajajaja

I have never seen such an enormous trailer like that in my life!!! Looks like they knew how to drive too.
Please tell me there's some 1-1/8" or at least some 3/4" plywood underneath that mat! What is keeping that sweet concrete floor from being shredded??
Greeting from Ohio! Lol .... I use to haul heavy, wide .... First thing I noticed was, the trailer kept most its arch!!! No idea what the JD dozer weighs in at, but it didn't seem to even phase the trailer!!! Awesome!!
95000 lb on a 1050k
@@curtiswarner5880 Awesome!! What a trailer!
Beautiful workmanship all round, what a lovely video.

when you have a $700,000 machine on your hands you take your time and watch everything. Great video!
700k doesn't touch the 1050k
So besides the deck flexing is their any suspension to those units? Didn't look it.
I'm surprised that they tied down part of the dozer by its track pads. You'd think it would have chassis tie down points.
Amazingly quite engine on that John Deere 1050K!
That dozer is just beautiful.
Does that one lowboy move every single piece of machinery in and out of the building?
And congrats to the engineers and quality fabricator.
"You want a garden lady? I'll build ya one freaking garden..."
Why you didn't show how the platform was lifted?
how long is this unit overall ?
The truck driver knows his stuff!
This is REAL heavy haul !! Real professionals !
You mean guys who don't cover the exhaust? Hate to be the one that pays for the spooled out turbo after this haul.
@@jamesbond1231 you have to your day off and I will call 📞 when you can call please please call please let me know if your home 🏡 or call 📞
why the tracks are painting ? (yellow) i think with the use the lost the paint instant
Where did they move it to (how far)?
That thing's so heavy I think the binders are just a formality to keep the 🍩 crew happy.
I helped build that machine...may not be the biggest dozer out there but it's a quality machine!!
zee man81 can you build me one?
Put it up against a D9N anyday
Dubuque Iowa
JD needs to stick to farming! Sorry, but the machines are not meant to last.
Why didn't you show startup?
Can someone explain the reason for that large of a trailer?
Awesome! Wait what did that float go through a time warp? How is there a ARCO gas station still around @14:43
The people who dislike this video mad they can’t drive like that guy
I wanna drive one
I was there at the same time loading a cat dozer on the other side.
Thank you 👍🏻

This might be a stupid question but why was the blade left up
Any particular reason why the dozer blade is kept up? Seems a little odd to me.
The 1050K is between a D8T & a D9T.Is closer in size to Komatsu D155A-6
Indeed. A D9 can't be transported with the blade and ripper on in BC.
A D-10 or D-11 is the preferred choice, especially among Mining Corps.
The 1050 deere is the perferred price among large construction companies.
Hey Brian, wouldn’t have been easier to back in and load the dozer?
Did he say what the gross weight is with that model dozer loaded?
That poor floor sure takes a beating!
@white zebra w
Am I allowed to test drive it before I purchase one?
Macara de om ilion de tone
other than big, what is the trailer called?
The 1050 is more like an D8. The one I demoed couldnt push as much as our D8Rs. This was 10 years ago when they where all new. I guess you can turn them up some though. Another outfit I worked for had one that really pushed good. I bet it would keep up with an 8, but not even close to the 9R we had on site.
That guy can back up like nothing I have ever seen! Awesome!
Truck driver has some mad skills.
yeah
xx2345000 idiot forgot to lower blade.
He left the blade up to clear the concrete parking barricades in the parking lot. It got chained down just before hitting the road. You don’t “forget” to put the blade down.
I wonder what kind of engine is running in that dozer ?
won't the tracks destroy concrete flooring?I see some floor protection but it looks like plastic sheeting
What are they like? Must be tuff to go up against CAT and Komatsu
that looks a tad bigger than a D-9 man,,,maybe a D-10
very nice transportcombination! 4.25. ... when they lower the ripper to the tarmac, is this than a double "road ripper"...?
Does that include free delivery?
With that trailer they could've hauled an actual BIG dozer
what size kingpin on that trailer??
Props to the truck driver .. dammmmmnn
What the rear hook use for?
...i'm always impressed by how quiet they are nowadays.
As a heavy hauler myself, I’m surprised that they got away with not putting the blade down
they wouldn't be able to drive in traffic with the blade down it would be way to wide
I was thinking the same thing. I was under the impression that it was mandatory that you had to lower the blade and put a chain across it.
Probably using it as a bug deflector for the windshield?
Darryl Tauffenbach when you haul oversized loads, you are permitted to only operate on certain routes. The state takes into consideration the size of a town, city, traffic, etc, and you will have escorts. In this particular situation, they will have besides a front and back escort, they will also have a state highway patrol leading the escort. Since this is Nevada, they more likely have a less restrictions because of their openness than say a state east of the Mississippi River would have, especially the east coast. I live in Mo., and in this state when driving through one of the bigger cities, I’m not allowed during the rush hour traffic morning or afternoon just for the sake of not having an issue with cars.
By having blade up u can also see behind you as well
Why are John Deere bulldozer caterpillar yellow and not green?
bobknight33 Green is forestry & agriculture , yellow is construction. Different specifications.
To be seen. Saftey ffs
Do you think a cat 5 hurricane would move it?
How long is the entire rig?
Parker Schnabel needs one of these!
That may have the HP of a D9 (nope the D9 has about 110 more HP) but it doesn't have the size, at least to my eyes. The high track D9's I've seen are larger in size than this John Deere and weigh in at 108,000 pounds depending on how it's setup. This John Deere has 350 HP and tips the scale at a lighter 95,000 pounds. All figures come from company production figures. Anyway, when I first saw it my first reaction was that this is more the size of a D8 but after checking what those weigh honestly and weight wise, it's between the D8 and the D9. It is an impressive and good looking machine nonetheless.
Boo
X CX CX CX CX CX CX CX CX d CX CX z,
Why are you even comparing it to a Cat, it doen't say biggest dozer, it says John Deers biggest dozer!
Only 350hp?? I FIGURED it would be LIKE 600 to 800hp
Agreed, Caterpillar trumps (no pun intended) Deere in this market. I also agree it's a good looking machine. Wouldn't it be awesome to have a "pull-off" contest? Caterpillar vs. Deere. That would be the "tell all" right?
Is the dozer up to go over vehicles? We always put the blade down .That is a small load for that truck
Man I like that Lowboy what trailers they make now and equipment
Awesome machine! It runs like a Deere like a John Deere should
Jason Shipley that's right. . if you like a rough ride and poor blade visibility

Jason Shipley it's deer not deere
Check out the mini van @ 14:32.
Don't know about you, but there's no way I'm cutting up alongside that thing.
That was stupid of him doing so.
Yea, it's not like they didn't see that thing pull out into the road. Even that guy riding the following trucks bumper.
I live in Vegas and know the area around the convention center and the service road area behind it and the casinos, and some of those turns are TIGHT....that driver did a great job....
Oops thinking behind the Venetian; not all the casinos:-)
wonder what the weight is ?my old AC 21 B is 90,000
WOW that is one huge bulldozer !
These guys know what they're doing. Very impressive!
11:13 freeze it there and get aload of that trailer.....a real masterpiece
About 20 years ago I hauled an 8866 koehring excavator that was close to this machines size. We took the dipper stick arm and bucket off and loaded the arm on another lowboy, the bucket into a 14 yard dump truck. I hauled the machine. It took two miles to get up too speed of 55, and a mile and a half to slow down! the machine weighed about 165,000 lbs without the arm and scoop bucket. Needless to say, I was nervous!
and I have issues backing my Expedition out of the garage.
It's because you suck at driving
and it all comes down to chains and ratchets, sure there's alot of them but there hand tightened
Johnny Crum The ratchet boomers and chains are not for show. Anyone who’s taken a load securement course knows that.
@Johnny Crum now ain't that a smart comment.... heavy things dont move easy but once they start to move it'll take alot to stop it....that's why there is the vast multitude of chains
I'm curious how thick that floor is.
Does the 1050 have a clutch
EXCELLENT TRUCK DRIVER. YA GOTTA KNOW JUST HOW IT TRACKS BEHIND YOUR RIG. BACKING UP? NO PROBLEM FOR THIS OPERATOR!
The impressive part is that the floor is still intact.
Carpet....my neighbors wife works for a company that sells commercial grade carpet for these trade shows...these conventions often replace it every couple shows...depending on the stuff they showing in there...
Binding to the track pads? Huh. (wonder if it fell off or not)
Is there a trailer for the guy driving the dozer?
I don't think this is a real big dozer for such a big float and I may be wrong but I think there are dozers larger than this one.
There is way bigger dozers, this is just John Deer's biggest.
canvids1 it's a D8 size dozer. It's made by Deere now instead of Liebherr. Not sure that's saying much IMHO
canvids1 cat has the D11 which trumps this Tonka tow. Cat really has JD by the balls when it comes to heavy equipment. JD has the farmers market wrapped up though.
They said this was equivalent to a D9 Cat, who make a D11 much larger
Seen bigger on the mines.
D9 equivalent is not that big these days, nice dozer though.
Used D11R's on our last big job, quite a bit bigger than that.
Jack Dawg Adshgjvj
Yes..we used DD22Rs on our last job and had to drive them home at night..big job but paid well...I was clearing several thousand a week but had to quit..went back to Toy R Us..better insurnace
Which company doing this transport mechanism ?
The guy backing the truck is definitely better than average. But the trailer is the star of the show you can hear the hydraulic motor in the back putting in the work.
nice vid good job!!
I don't think that is the same as a D9 looks more like a maybe a D8
D9 and d8 is a cat size
Anyone see if he pulled the hand brake on??
What is the gas mileage on thar
chain to the track ? oh really ?
My 1957 420c probably can push the same amount.
didn't they have a D10 and D11T that were larger?
Call me crazy, but why are they transporting with the blade raised?
I need it to clear the snow out of my driveway
Why do they need such a large trailer for a relatively 'light' bulldozer (47.5 tons)?
DOT regs. Also distributes the weight more evenly on the convention center floor.
I'll bet they were using EVERY trailer they had ... I saw a number of videos of them moving big machines the week after the convention.
We don't need so many axles to move one of those in the U.K. seriously underloaded.
Bridge formula laws in the various states determine how many pounds can go on an axle and the distance between the axles. which states were they going to haul this through?
Because our corrupt government found a gold mine in the word Safety.
how many wheels on that dang
I worked on the 1050K line building cabs for awhile in Dubuque
