My Marine aviator(V-22 Osprey), did not know she wanted to be a pilot until she was a youngster at USNA and she didn't see TOPGUN until after she graduated. Our congressman in NY didn't do interviews either. Intense questions, but a good video.
The question i hope to be asked the most has got to be about the time i spend volunteering at an air museum. to get to teach others about aviation and also work on restoring aircraft and preserving a bit of aviation history is something that i never thought i would be able to do as a high school student. Even if i can not make it as a pilot in the airforce i hope someone that i have talked to will after seeing how amazing aviation can really be. If it was not for the people i have met at the our museum i do not know if i would be chasing my dream the way i am now. I have talked to countless pilots and aircraft mechanics there, but the military guys were by far the best to talk to.
That is a great topic to working into this question ----- "Tell us about yourself". You hit on your time at the museum, definitely a conversation starter.
Does it affect our chances in the nomination process if we as applicants are not yet sure of what service community we wish to join upon commissioning?
Certainly not! The purpose of that question is to determine if you did your research and have some idea of the opportunities after graduation. A simple answer would be --- "I'm very interested in being a pilot but the sub community seems like something that I would want to do. I know that my time and the academy and exposure to all the opportunities available will make my decision easier when the time comes". Thanks for watching my videos.
