I live in Italy (originally from Los Angeles) and looking to upgrade from my 55in XF9005. Been looking at the Samsung s95c 77in and just looked at the BestBuy site for price comparison and man the price is good here. €2799 compared to $3599. S90C is only €2499 so definitely going to pick up the s95c. Was having second thoughts as I’m nervous about burn-in but it seems like it’s a stellar tv
I have both the G3 and S90C. Each TV has its strengths and weaknesses. If you care about appearance on a wall, the G3 easily wins. It's also better at motion handling, upscaling (marginally), and peak brightness. It also has more picture presets and multiple settings options if you want to get granular. The 5-year panel warranty also merits consideration. Does that justify the price premium to the S90C? Perhaps not, but it's nuanced for sure. Really happy with both.
Hey classy, you should should do a streaming device recommendation video as nobody in y'alls group really does it. Nvidia shield, apple TV, Amazon fire, etc...
Shield best for plex. Fire for prime video. ATV 4K for everything else and best overall.
Classy happy thanksgiving,
I have a receiver (yamaha a4a)and a 65g3 with game consoles ( series x and switch) and Nvidia Shield. What would you recommemd? Conect everything to receiver and share picture settings? (If so which for sd and for hdr?) Or connect everything to tv and use earc with separate settings?
(For a set it and forget it approach)
Thanks for the video. How far behind the sony processer is the samsung s90c? I mostly watch daytime dish satellite. Do any other tv's have as good or nearly as good upscaling as sony? Have you tested the Sharp 2023 Aquos xled? Seems like a good tv but I have only seen one review on this. Again, thanks for the video
Hey, Classy!!! Do you have the best settings for the 77” S90C? I just got it! Thankssss
Love these end of year recommendation vids. Thanks for putting this together. If i am getting a tv just for watching football, sports, general tv content, and movies, should i go with the 65” A75L or the 65” S90C ?
I’d like to know as well . @classy
Classy would you be able to do a beat sound bar/surround sound ? Thanks for the hard work.
I will probably get the X93L and be the purposeful oddball here.
Looks goood. It's rare to see a good LCD these days I might go for an X95L next year if it ever gets down to 3k
Great video as always. I got a 42 inch C2 from Costco many months ago and plan to start using it as a computer monitor for work (3-5 hours per day - 5 days a week). I will implement some of your settings recommendations like auto changing wallpapers without text and auto hide taskbar. I will have some folders on the desktop though. I won’t game on the monitor but will use it for content viewing sometimes Netflix, UA-cam. Should I just let LG’s automatic cycles run as programmed in the C2 or should I manually run the pixel refresh sometimes or play a UA-cam demo video at the end of each daily session or week? Thanks Classy!
Just let it do what it does automatically, and don't do the manual refresh unless needed.
I agree with almost everything except the QN90C, and the LG. QN90C still blooms despite being a min-led, and the LG should be a consideration if Dolby Vision is important to someone since it's the only brand that I know of that does it correctly.
I may grab that 77 s90c to replace the C1
Nice video Classy. Classy why dont Sony do a 55 X95L? And dont you like the G3 buddy?
The LG G3 -77 for 3499$ is a great deal also not as good as 90c 2499$ but
Almost 6 k in taxes in canada on sale…fml
Samsung QD OLED price quality best buy...
Hi Classy! Awesome video and thanks for all your videos. Looking for a new TV now that my 2008 Panasonic Plasma is slowly dying. I'm in Canada so deals here are nowhere near as good as in the US. 😞
It's our family TV that sees mixed use. My kids and I play video games, but we also watch a lot of shows and movies through Netflix, Paramount, Disney+ etc. Probably 50-50 on gaming vs. streaming. As a photographer I love a good image when watching movies.
I'm leaning Sony A80L because of streaming and great image while gaming, even though LG C3 and Samsung S90C offer more flexibility for settings in gaming mode. But from experience on my old TV, I never really tweak setting while gaming.
Would you have any insights or recommendations? I know you highly regard the S90C but I'm a bit concerned about the relatively poor upscaling and processing compared to Sony and LG. And how is the reliability of Samsung these days?
Samsung upscaling and processing isn't poor. It's a hair under LG, and Sony does a bit better than both with heavily compressed content.
All brands have around the same reliability as a percentage. People see more Samsung issues because Samsung sells exponentially more than any other brand.
Due to you coming from a plasma though, the Sony motion may be better for you.
What's the ETA for the QN95C settings video?
Hi Classy, are you going to post a settings guide for the S90C, or can someone use the S95C version you posted a while back?
I used his s95c for my s90 c 55" (not sure if it's nxt gen panel, but i believe it most likely is)
Edit: I forgot to mention that I LIKED THESE SETTINGS😅
@@hellogoodbye3786cool, thank you 😊
They're only slightly different than the S95C but yes I will when I have time
As much as I wanted the Sony, the 77in S90C is half the price and almost as good. I have a really good surround sound system so I don't care about the good onboard audio on the Sony. No Dolby Vision is a bummer but there is a good amount of HDR10+ material lately. Picked up a S90C on Sunday from my local Best Buy. Now need to plug my 3080 into it and see if I have any of the PC issues reported.
S90C Samsung QD OLED is best price quality TV... Sony use Samsung QD OLED screen but price is ridiculous high
How you doing buddy like your videos you are on point I like to ask you and opinion on a between sony x90L and the lg mini led Qned 85 series 86 inch and I’m a sony guy but I got the lg but I still have chance to return it what you think
If you're happy with the LG and it doesn't have edge bleeding around the sides then keep it.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations thanks for your response godbless
Sitting at 13-14', most streaming movies, sports, shows, and playing PS5, 85" X90L or 77" S90C?
You need the 98 X90L at that distance.
Do you recommend the G3 at all? Why/Why not? Thanks for another great video. Always appreciate your expert opinion. Happy Thanksgiving!
Not really. S90C is better overall for less money.
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
@@ClassyTechCalibrationswhat about for streaming TV and sports? As that is all I really do,
Is the S90C 77" not much worse than the G3 for streaming content such as Hulu Live. Concerned of the Samsung processing, upscaling, and watching low bit content through streaming.
Hey Classy! Is the 2. gen panel on the s90c worth the work (keep returning until you get it) or is the 1 gen good enough? Happy thanksgiving!
Should only be a concern if you plan to keep the TV for a long time.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations Thank you for the answer! I will properly keep it for 4-5 years. Do you think thats ok?
@@sim2854 should be fine with varied content.
How can you check whether it is a 2nd gen panel? Do you need to go in the service menu? Or can you tell from manufacturing date?
@@franknelissen8041 You have to go to the service menu…
Thanks for the rundown. Nearly every new UHD blu-ray has a Dolby Vision playback option and most of the streaming services are delivering Dolby Vision. The Samsung S90C does not support Dolby Vision and yet you still recommend it without reservation? I am toying with the idea of upgrading my 77” Sony A80J from 2021 but I don’t want to go backwards or even sideways.
Dolby Vision is just dynamic tone mapping. As displays are more capable, the usefulness of Dolby Vision diminishes. It also does nothing to make up for a superior panel's performance.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations Thanks much for the quick reply. How much of an upgrade would you speculate that I would achieve by upgrading to the 90C from my 2021 Sony model 7780J?
@classytechcalibrations Sorry for my persistence but I value your opinion. How much improvement would I see by going from 2021 Sony 77A80J to the 2023 Samsung S90C?
@@kennethgross8079 depends on the content. In higher grades HDR content, it is a pretty significant upgrade. If you turn brightness up high in SDR, the S90C gets significantly brighter in SDR.
May I ask you, why you did not include a Samsung QN90C or QN85C in your recommendations? Do you think Sony X90j is better Led option? Also what do you think about LG C 1 or C2 or C3 as alternatives to Oleds from Samsung and Sony? Thanks
I did, at 85in recommend the QN90C.
X90J is old, L is the current model.
C1/C2 are also old models, C3 is current but not as good as S90C or A80L.
Some say that Samsung is more prone to burn in than Woled from LG and Sony. And in my location older Sony and LG cost as much as new Samsung models. Therefore I asked about X90j vs QN 90C, and C1/C2 vs Samsung S90C. To me the older Sony or LG don't seem to lack any significant features. Samsung is brighter, but Sony has better upscaling for SDR, which I will be watching most of the time. I guess each model has pros and cons.
@@alexcherpsy burn in shouldn't be a concern, and if anything Sony models can be less resilient because of how they do the compensation cycles.
Upscaling has nothing to do with SDR or HDR, and Samsung does well with upscaling. It's heavily compressed content that can have over processed artifacts.
The Sony 65” Class BRAVIA XR A90J for 1400.00 or the X95K for 2000.00, would you recommend any of these?
A90J is still a great TV
Thanks, I'll get it.@@ClassyTechCalibrations
LG is paying for any parts (the contractor ordered a new panel today) and also LG is paying him and for his two hour commute. I bought my tv march of last year with a absolutely ZERO warranty purchased on my end. I had that bad of a experience with their customer support agents the first day I called them when my tv broke that they are willing to do all that for me and my C1 lol. Incredibly happy my tv will be fixed by this time next week have you ever heard of LG fixing something that far out of warranty?
Also what does a replacement panel usually cost for a LG 65” C1? And to pay some one to install it also!
The 77in S90C currently includes a $200 gift card at Best Buy for $2,500
Hi classy, it's Mike Here & I'm so devastated because my Sony X95J messed up & HDMI inputs 1 & 2 no longer produce sound with picture. Only HDMI 4 is working & this happened suddenly for no reason while watching TV. I was also told the X95J had a 2yr manufacturer warranty & now their saying only 1 yr & that's not what I was told when buying the TV. Even reviews I've see stated the same 2yr warranty before my purchase. Im very devastated & haven't had this TV even 2yrs & I'm also broke cause of job loss so this is even more devastating. You have any suggestions & Thank in advance.
Was it bought at Costco? Those are the only Sonys in the states I know of that have more than one year of warranty.
If you can Id suggest getting a cheap HDMI switch and just use the working HDMI port with all of your devices.
@ClassyTechCalibrations It was from best buy. By doing that won't that effect my E Arc for soundbar
@@michaeldavis6550 no, sound will still go through eARC.
@ClassyTechCalibrations a cheep HDMI Switch just plugs into #4 & then everything connected will run off HDMI #4 on TV menu? Also would a cheep HDMI effect video & sound quality? And if my EArc HDMI port is also not working then what? Thanks for your help also & hope your new year is awesome.
@@michaeldavis6550 if the eARC (port 3) is not working, then you wouldn't be getting any sound to your soundbar.
If you have any HDMI 2.1 game consoles like PS5 or Xbox Series X, then a 2.1 switch with 4 ports would be a bit more expensive. But if you only need HDMI 2.0b it shouldn't be much. Monoprice makes good affordable ones that shouldn't have any quality loss.
Dont forget the Lg G3 is a great tv and a good gaming tv.😂😂😂
The S90C has the worst judder I've ever experienced on a TV to the point where I had to take it back and have no idea what to get now. I couldn't find any motion settings that made TV watchable for me
Wow. That’s exactly what I’m worried about with that one. It seems like such good hardware for the money, but the processing seems like a bummer.
Classy can you verify this?
@@ejg34 he acknowledged it in his S95 video. Samsung doesn’t have the best processing, but how much it bothers you is going to depend on the person.
@@ejg34 The motion isn't that different from LG but not as good as Sony, when you don't like soap opera effect.
@@ClassyTechCalibrationsmy lgs don't bother me. He made it sound absolutely unwatchable
🤔
Man the hate for the Samsung 95C is real. I calibrated my 95C had it for 7 months and I have 0 issues. For the game dropout issues simply just disconnect the connect box for a few seconds and reconnect. It’s a great tv.
There's no hate for it. I owned it for around 6 months. Disconnecting and reconnecting the one connect box doesn't fix the dropouts. They're still random. The S90C is visually identical 99.9% of the time, substantially cheaper and doesn't have the one connect box.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations Thanks for the reply, the hate I’m referring to metaphorically is simply disregarding the Samsung 95C based on price and overall performance. There is a reason why it’s Samsung Flagship TV, plus with your argument I can say the same thing about Sony’s 95L for basically a $1000 difference the Samsung 95C can closely compete with that TV making its price range questionable. The truth all of these TVs need calibration in some form out of the box and all TVs specialize in doing different things it’s about what the consumer likes. I just SMH at UA-camrs who completely disregard the 95C in favor of the 90C but then turn around and praise the Sony’s 95L a TV that has blooming issues, Doby Vison issues, costs $1000 more and is NOT blowing away TVs like the 95C they are relatively close depending on the content watched. Thanks for reading I love your channel.
No love for the G3?! $1500 less than the A95L with 5 year warranty and mount included.
S90C is cheaper and better, A95L is better if budget doesn't matter.
be carefull not to critizie their knowledge you dont want them going quantum on you
S90c best price quality TV... Sony TV ridiculous expensive
Where is LG? The number one selling tv just disappeared . I smell somthig fishy here even i like S90c pirce. After 2-3 years will see how the panel and the waranty will have problems, cause in my country Eu samsung is terrible at waranty but LG is great. 3years Samsung vs 5 year LG panel waranty alsow a big deal in oled .
The LGs are more expensive than better alternatives. All brands have roughly equal percentage failure rates, and roughly equal support. If someone's worried about long-term warranty they should be paying for extended warranty through a store. At least here in the States where warranties are one year with the exception of the panel coverage on the G series.
Thx for the quick answear. For 4k HDR movies and gaming you still saying S90C is better? I dont need DV , but i might need G-sync for my pc, Samsung don t have as i heared. I can get 65 S90c (hope 2nd panel) 1.180usd and LG 65C3 1.390usd. @@ClassyTechCalibrations
@@kristofpali Samsung and LG both work with Gsync the same, neither have a Gsync module. Nothing to worry about.
The S90C is better than the G3 in most things. LG has a bit of an advantage for upscaling and maybe motion but that's it.
