I used the erasable pens that were around in the 90's - they were very smudgy when you went to erase them. Frixions are much nicer to work with but I just have the one sampler. When I searched for info about them I learned that they will disappear and reappear based on temperature, so the "friction" works by raising the temperature. But that also means the work could be spoiled if it's stored in extreme temps, and there are some reddit threads about homework assignments that were destroyed by accident.
My current faves for ink sketch are Pentel Tradio Stylo(aka Pulaman nib) and Papermate Flairs (medium). They have a lot of line character but are relatively stiff in their feel which helps me slow down. I also use Korn lithographic crayons for sketching value - they get darker than most wax crayons. It's fun to pair the crayon with a pen to create distinct value and line phases.

aaahhh that makes sense! I remember filling out an international application during a trip with a frixion pen (it was all I had on me at the time), and I had to refill it out because I used the frixion pen. It's likely because of that same reason of the ink not necessarily lasting long? 😅It's cool to know that it's effected by temperature but gosh, I could see that being a nightmare for people using it 😭
Oooh also! Thanks for sharing your current fave supplies, I've taken note to use it as another reason to go into art stores 🤭

Honestly, I view real time footage as soothing to look at (I can't stand segments of sped up with just music as my inner self gets kind of infuriated while I'm drawing that I had to increase the speed of the video until the commentary comes back ◉^◉; )
