Great topic! Sometimes, I use a train song to start the last hour (Quad City Djs, locomotion, etc.) Round em back up for the (power hour). Last 20 min I'll play songs they sing along to like "Time of my life" I mean everybody is singing to each other "I've had the time of my life" to each other and it just creates that vibe at the end of the night. Plus somebody always tries "the move" and at that point they're so drunk it's epic!
Perfect! I had a meeting with a couple tonight & the usual 'dont stop believing' 'shout' 'sweet caroline' sing alongs wasnt a perfect fit for their end of night song but 'Give Me Everything' might be perfect! Thank Jason for putting the knowledge & energy in the world! @itsameDjMario thanks for sharing that golden coin/nugget 😜
Fantastic content as usual! Thank you much! After 20+ years in the industry, we lose touch with so many of the nuances over the years! I literally watch a video of yours before every event (loading the equipment now for tonight the The Merion), just to help set the mindset. Enough rambling, great content. Thanks bud! 🎧🎶🎙️
I'm continually impressed by the great information and simplicity of these videos. You are right Jason about having a plan for the end. I think a lot of under experienced DJ's would just wing it. Thanks as always for wanting to up the game. Much appreciated.
I always find getting on the mic and guiding the party is a great way to prepare them...i even do this in a club gig. and i always believe if the night was great, you have to end on an even greater note....sing-a-long or hands in the air or retro anthem or vibe track....cause the last track is the cherry on top.....make it a great flav cherry!
My Last Song for Wedding Events has been "We Go Together" from Grease but it feels like it might be time to find an update. I would always give an approximate 20 minute warning and invite everybody to join the bride and groom on the dance floor for a great final moment. Followed by Happy Trails by Van Halen at half volume with my thank you statement to the family as well as venue staff. Appreciate you Jason !
Hey Jason, thank you for the super helpful videos, I try to watch all of them. 🔥I don’t know if you’ve already considered this, but I would very much appreciate a video talking about growing from a single op to a multi op.
Love this Jason it is definitely important. My wedding Friday was amazing I ended up setting them up for the end and still played like 3 extra songs. And even after that they were chanting encore. Then one of the bridesmaids comes over and venmo's me money to play later. And in your planning make sure you know the venue as well because certain ones will start turning lights on even if you have 20 seconds left of a last dance so you have to really time things out and maybe plan on ending a minute early that way it's not abrupt when they turn the lights on.
Hi Jason! I was the guy a few posts ago that asked you to fix your compression settings on your audio for the videos. Well,, it sounds a whole lot better!! Thanks for listening to my advice!! PLUS I’ll be taking your advice about how to end events. I’ve been doing alright but I’ve actually never asked the client on how they wanted to END their parties,, only how to start them. Thanks for the advice!!
Do you get on the mic after the last song? If so what do you say (wedding scenario)? What do you say before the last song? I have trouble getting the words but I know the general message and layout
