While in the navy, I served aboard an aircraft carrier. During my time serving on it, the ship was in drydock for several months. It was very fascinating to see the underside of such a huge ship!

Imagine the amount of toxic chemicals we need to dump in the ocean were we go fishing for our food? What’s wrong with human.

In the U.S. all that is removed off of the ships surface (paint, rust, etc.) Is captured in the dry doc , tested and sent to a hazmat landfill. Due to the Clean Water Act and numerous other regulations, this does not end up in the ocean.

I always thought the most mysterious part of dry dock was placing the blocking for the keel to sit on. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.😀😀

Did I notice that most naval vessel sit in 8 ft. of water according to the numbers in dry dock.

@@Thomasnmi I suppose it could be 8 yards and not 8 feet, it would make more sense.

@@davemeeks8109 draft marks are in either feet or meters
If meters there will usually be a larger "M"
If in feet, sometimes the "tens" digit is smaller and easily missed.
Drafts of common cargo ships is between 8 meters and 16 meters for example

Aircraft 🛬 and ship repair and maintenance is a worthy business for countries that could be considered as a good, profitable place for conducting such tasks, technical support ,services and skills;nevertheless, work force, training requirements are subjects that have to be addressed with expertise, dexterity and capability.such great projects can only be seen as an index of economic strength and sustainable growth development 😎👍
