Just found this. It's wonderful to see the old home town as it was when my parents were kids!

I was born In BInghamton and remember most of these sites. Years down the line, my hubby and I moved with IBM several times and are now retired in Kentucky. We have been back and it sure had changed! But at the time we went back, there was the new Mall, Sears, J.C. Penney and so many other things. Now....all that is gone as well. Yes, I do look at photos of it today and am so disappointed that I just cry. We still drove a Model A Ford when I was a kid. How I WISH I could go back in time!!!

Camping Together I mean, you show them one smartphone and their faces would explode, so

Camping Together: I don't think they'd be disappointed much at all. The rural area is still great and the major town is still somewhat small townish. But today's styles, cars, hand held devices, culture (SUNY), better roads and more would do it.

Thanks for the home movies of Binghamton. I'm surprised he didn't film the Arlington or Carlton Hotels which torn down in the late 60s.

I absolutely love this video. If time travel was possible, I would love to go back and live in Binghamton, 1934. . A lot of my relatives were young and living in the area including my mother. I wish Binghamton still had that feel but it doesn't. It really started to go down hill when IBM closed and Endicott Johnson. I haven;t been back in several years and I am so disappointed in the area.

Incredible how active the city areas were compared to today. Amazing when you think about how this video was taken during the HEART OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION and it's flourishing in comparison to 2019. Binghamton is a dead city and it's never coming back, time to move on to the new cities that are rich and great. Binghamton is NY's mini Detroit, and I love it

    We're in the money, we're in the money;
We've got a lot of what it takes to get along!
We're in the money, that sky is sunny,
Old Man Depression you are through, you done us wrong.
We never see a headline about breadlines today.
And when we see the landlord we can look that guy right in the eye
We're in the money, come on, my honey,
Let's lend it, spend it, send it rolling along!
Oh, yes we're in the money, you bet we're in the money,
We've got a lot of what it takes to get along!
Let's go we're in the money, Look up the skies are sunny,
Old Man Depression you are through, you done us wrong.
We never see a headline about breadlines today.
And when we see the landlord we can look that guy right in the eye
We're in the money, come on, my honey,
Let's lend it, spend it, send it rolling along!

I remember that giant NG storage tank, and when it blew-up during its tear-down.

I remember that gas tank when we lived on Tompkins St. and it caught fire Easter Sunday '67 and almost blew up. It was an unusually hot day that day and we were having Easter dinner at my Grandma's house on Sunset Ave. Surprisingly, they didn't have Court St. closed down, but the area was packed with fire trucks. This was a great video. Hope you find more like this and post them. What a treasure.

I first visit Binghamton in 2005, it was a decent place. I was born and raised in Queens NY so it had a nice countryside feel compared to NY. I later went to BU in 2010s. I recently visited in 2022. it's sad how that place has become. Not just Binghamton but most small cities around America.

This makes me sad. That area had such promise and sprang out of a genuine optimism.
