My grandfather Edward Earl Harmon was written up in the newspaper as a hero for helping to save so many people in this flood with his boat.

Thank you for putting this on here. My grandfather ran and got my Mom when she was 8 or 9 years old to go down to the river to see the house floating down the Susquehanna off Court St. near Fairview Ave. She said she'll never forget it. They lived at 9 Sunset Ave. My Grandfather used to hang out with his buddies at Mama Lena's after work and that got flooded. I think all the lumber at Whipple's lumber yard got soaked too (where McDonald's is now). So many houses got ruined.

Nice capture of a tree falling into the river. A surprising number of cars on the street at the height of the depression.

I remember going to Binghamton in the 1960 and wondering why they needed tall cement walls around the river down town.Great State Park right outside down town.

That's got to be The Rockbottom Bridge I would think, where I spent some very memorable days. Thanks for posting.
