Its a DShK that has been crudely modified into an infantry machine gun. And no its not in .50 BMG, but fires a more powerful Russian 12.7 x 108 mm round that has been in service since 1930, when it was first used in the DK heavy machine gun.

At the end of the day it is 100% a russian .50 just like the AK shoots a 308 Winchester which is also like saying an AK shoots a 30 caliber. Basic math. Separate the bullet from the cartridge. Another great example is a 38 special and a 357 magnum.
As crude as it looks, i'd say it is a pretty good "field" modernisation of the ol' Dshk ! Bipod, muzzle brake, stock+(almost)pistol grip, ammo mount... It is a two man job to carry the old beast, but it is surprisingly stable during fire in this configuration !

Бронебойные патроне Б32 пробьют в борт любой российский БТР если на нем не будет стоять дополнительная композитная защита. А ее на большинстве российской техники нет и не скоро будет. Потому, что она дорогая. Так что очень полезный пулемет. Ну из может пробить укрытие. В основном такие пулеметы нужны для расстрела техники. Более тяжелую технику на себе не понесешь. А ДШК - вполне носимое оружие. И мощное.

Be in either defensive positions or be in the back of a BTR perhaps along with mortar teams or other direct fire support teams that can get them out whenever they need them.

It’s not a offensive or assault style MG weapon. But it’s size of round 12.8mmx108mm can be used for anti-aircraft inside bases. This weapon was made in 1938, so yes a little outdated. 😂 but I still would not want my squad to walk into one of these nests.

There might be a lot of muzzle blast, but that compensator is doing one hell of a job, seems to be very little recoil for such a hard hitting round.
That and the gun probably weighs damn near 80 pounds.
