Skull Bones Mnemonic (Cranial and Facial Bones) | Anatomy and Physiology

- The human skull bones can be tricky to learn at first in your anatomy and physiology class, but these mnemonics will help you learn the 8 cranial bones and 14 facial bones, for a total of 22 skull bones. I also cover associated bones in the skull, such as the hyoid bone and the auditory ossicles (ear bones).
Quiz: www.registered...
Here's a neat trick about the skull bones: the 8 cranial bones are all single, except for two pairs of bones (parietal and temporal). The 14 facial bones are all pairs of bones, except for two single ones (vomer and mandible).
Here are the eight cranial bones, with a mnemonic (memory trick) to help you remember them:
-Ethmoid bone (1)
-Frontal bone (1)
-Sphenoid bone (1)
-Parietal bones (2)
-Temporal bones (2)
Occipital bone (1)
To remember them, remember this phrase (make it into a cranial bones song if you want): Ethan's Fried Spanish Pasta Tempted Octavia.
The fourteen facial bones may seem even more daunting, but these mostly come in pairs, so there aren't as many as it seems.
-Mandible (1)
-Vomer (1)
-Maxilla (2)
-Lacrimal bones (2)
-Nasal bones (2)
-Inferior Nasal Concha (2)
-Palatine bones (2)
-Zygomatic bones (2)
Here's a mnemonic sentence (or song) to help you remember the 14 facial bones: My Mouth's Palate Never Likes Zucchini In Vinegar.

The cheek bones must be the most valuable during a boxing match.
I am having such a hard time in my Anatomy labs and these videos are such a blessing to me. Thank you so much for explaining and helping to memorize areas more easily.

Same😭😭
Same yesterday.... Can't believe it is so similar
Same 😭😭
Me now 😂😂
Thank you so much, thanks to covid my teacher just releases a bunch of powerpoints with the bones labeled while expecting us to learn every single bone in the body and every individual labeled piece on the by our selves. This has helped me understand the skull way more clearly.
They're still doing that even in person now! It's crazy when people can learn more from UA-cam than a class that costs $$$.
Same except I’m in person. He berated us for not studying enough when he doesn’t teach at all.
Don't worry, even in person, I was taught the bones as you described. I failed A and P last term as a result of the teaching style. This semester I am taking matters into my own hands. I am very glad that I found this channel, the benefit of this video is invaluable.
I hope you passed your courses and are successful in life. Take care!!
@@justinwensveen9244 same. Using these videos to take control of my learning.
oh my god i just found this channel when i have to learn all 206 of the bones in a week. this makes it seem so easy and painless and your quizzes are a great study tool
Same here!
The first anatomy video that satisfied me was from this teacher, after years I still remember the way you associated each bone with meaning full words. I appreciate this video too, it helped me a lot.
Thanks so much. It's an uphill experience at 73 years old but I am studying to become a Certified Personal Trainer. I plan to take my exam in Dec 2022. I am a Certified Tai Chi Instructor which wasn't a walk in the park. After 2 failed exams I finally realized Anatomy will be an important foundation. You're a fun an effective Instructor.
I am very grateful I stumbled upon this video. I am working towards an RN degree and this channel is going to prove to be a valuable resource as I move through post-secondary. Thank you so much for preparing all of the material that you offer, I really appreciate it!!
I am a massage therapy student and my goal is to really hone in on my anatomy knowledge and understanding. Thank you for a very insightful, "real" and practical way to learn and retain this new understanding. Love your channel.😊
I failed my last lab quiz so here I am praying for a miracle for the next one.
Absolutely fantastic channel! Breaking down each bone and identifying each separate bone is understood in a natural way with the guidance of these videos. At first, the skeletal system looks too overwhelming to be able to identify, but even an ant can digest an elephantine proportion, bite by bite! Because of this channel's help, I was able to pass my first 140-hour examination for becoming a Massage Therapist! I have up to 700 hours to go, and I'll be supported by these videos for sure, I know I can handle it now! This channel is too awesome, Thank You for all the videos RegisteredNurseRN!
The best skull anatomy- video I have come across, thank you!
Y'all are such a blessing! Thank you so much for these videos. I'm taking college anatomy and physiology and learning about the cranial bones, this helps SOO MUCH
Thankyou it was very helpful.

Thanks again for a great video…. You make learning material for med/nursing school more digestible and understandable….. please keep these videos coming!!!!!!!
Very helpful and easy to remember.
Who else has lab 3 tomorrow for taylor kelsay
This was really wonderful. Also, his humor made the learning experience less boring 🙂🙂
Thank you so much! I started this last night and was able to memorize them all by this morning,
Beyond helpful as my school is really lame, they’re giving us one week from starting the skeletal system chapter to the test, not enough time for a proper understanding/education in my opinion! I’m probably going to switch programs
Thanks again!
