🛩️ T1 Ranger - Narrated Night FPV Flight

- Just a quick narrated flight of my HeeWing T1 Ranger half hour after sunset. It wasn't fully dark, but the light was rapidly fading, and it was certainly darker than it looks in the video.

i actually love this type of video. you can still kind of get your flying fix when the weather is against you. ive been following Keiths channel for some time as well and continually try to not get jealoous of his garden runway...
Haha is garden runway is awesome. He should totally wire up some proper landing lights and install a windsock lol
Great flight Giz I thoroughly enjoyed the narrating adds a little bit to the video and a lot of videos that people don't talk and you don't even have a clue where they are great video keep them coming

I have a pond I fly and water in daylight during a loop is bad when you see nothing but water.... Beautiful flight .,.

Yeah the onboard DVR gets really clean footage. Much better than catching it over the airwaves for sure :)

@@bonafidepirate Oh you should absolutely get a T1 Ranger. I've been building aircraft for years, and the T1 has easily been the best so far :) And yeah, I'm the same. I don't say umm in normal conversation, but as soon as the camera is recording it's like a nervous twitch lol
@@gizfpv Awesome! I ordered mine yesterday, found the PNP for a good price on Amazon Prime. It should be here tomorrow. I'm not sure when I'll build it, don't want to rush it... lol I need to check out a few different builds to get some ideas on where the place things. Should be fun!
That was awesome. I love flying my phantom at night. You can see the navigation lights for miles.
DJI Phantom? Wow, I didn't think anyone owned them anymore, thought they all flew away lol. You're right though, the LED's on them are very bright and can be seen for miles

Love your videos dude, so well put together and informative. Sorry if I missed it, but what camera are you using for the tail cam? I ordered a runcam thumb for this but can't find any stls online for a tail mount. If you could share yours that would be very helpful. All the best.
I just have a Runcam Phoenix on the tail. The thumb is on the nose of my T1

I liked it a lot! Few low-light videos are seen... the artificial horizon sometimes I see that it goes up, other times I see that it turns on its own... is that normal? do you know what it can be? It happens to me too and I thought it was a mistake but I see that it also happens to you... what could it be?
The problem with the artifical horizon is a long running issue with Inav and it's called 'Horizon drift'. It's been a problem for years and for some reason the devs haven't yet managed to solve it, however there are measures you can take to try reduce the severeity of it though. Have a hunt online, there's a fair bit of information out there about it

My radio records the telemetry downstream. When I get home I upload the telemetry to Google earth where I can then view the flight and replay it 😊

With INAV 6, there's a new option for a strobe effect: you can configure your wing LEDs to be navigation lights as before, but the strobe option makes them blink white as well.
Has that not been a feature on Inav for a while now? I thought it had, maybe I'm wrong, in which case thanks for the tip

I can sympathize with the worry about rambling too much, but I think that only bothers you more than anyone watching. If the umm frequency concerns you just silence them out, that's what I do, especially for non-live narration like this. Would probably be less work than running the umm counter :) If I'm doing a live shoot like showing something at my desk and I feel a narration blank coming on I make sure to get my hands out of the shot so that nothing is moving. That way I can pause to think a bit, and resume before bringing my hands back into view. Since nothing was moving in the picture that whole section can be cut out leaving no visual jump cut, and it looks like my narration flows much better than it actually does lolz
I think you're probably right, probably bothers me more than it bothers other people lol. I just hate it when you're trying to learn something from a video and the guy talking just goes off on a tangent and doesn't get to the point. That's literally why I started making UA-cam videos, so people would have tutorials that get straight to the point :) For a video like this though I guess it doesn't really matter if I ramble though. Thanks for the tips though, nothing like a good jump cut to smooth over some sketchy recording lol
A fun evening flight. A good visual reference should you every want to takeoff in early pre-dawn for a long range flight.
Narration was interesting in this case as helped to provide context. You could alway try inter-mixing music with narration if there are longer parts where just scenic flight, and no discussion points.
Yeah I've seen Dustin Dunell do that a few times, might try it myself at some point if I do longer flights

That was cool, don't see much night flying. How far can it go, flight time??
With the battery I'm currently using (1300 3s) the flight time is around 15 mins, which gets around 10-15km range. With a bigger battery (or a li-ion battery) the range would undoubtedly be much more

I have a question how do you get that FPV camera that gives you there level flight display what’s the altitude how can I get that can you give me a name of a brand of camera that sells that or the one you have
That's the OSD coming from the flight controller, not the camera itself.
Like Jacob said, the OSD comes from the flight controller, not the camera
I wish I could figure out how to do the narrated videos mine come out bad. We all have different reasons we're flying and I like to hear what other people's reasons are It's interesting to me to hear what drives us in this often frustrating hobby
Try getting a better microphone. There are even those who record separately... You know? It could be really useful for videos in general. 😊
TBH I didn't really know what I was doing when I started narrating this video 😂 My 1st attempts all sounded a bit robotic, and it took a while to figure out how to sound a bit more natural. In the end I just pretended I was talking to a friend sat beside me rather than to the camera, and that seemed to help :)
is the T1 Ranger with stock setup can fly on 4S? I got a bunch of 4S batteries from my destroyed Dart 250G
Sure is. I fly mine on 4s all the time using the stock motors/ESC

Haha yeah, the battery was just dangling from my goggles, it never stays in the damm holder on the strap. I have actually got a SYK cable so I can put the battery in my pocket, but on this flight I forgot it lol. Yeah I like watching Dustin Dunnell's narrated flights too. Jealous of where he lives!
What fc and what size battery did you use on this flight ?

Sorry for the late reply. I might do a VTOL build at some point. I've got a 2nd T1, still new in box, waiting to be built. I'll look into it and see how I feel about it :)

The plane is a HeeWing T1, and my controller is s radiomaster TX16s running TBS Crossfire. If you look at my recent uploads, you'll see a build video for this plane which goes into detail about which parts are used
I've landed on that exact beach.. With my albabird... But in the daylight.... Better landing than me..
