To the people asking "how do I get started...?"
Build up your exercise routine to include cycling, paddling (if you can get a boat) and running.
Find and start doing orienteering, and / or rogaining in your area. Learn to navigate by doing - you'll get fitter doing it too.
Find and commit to a short event with a keen friend (or tell the organisers you need a buddy and you're a noobie).
Organisers of these events - orienteering, rogaining, adventure racing are mostly keen to help new people. Contact me if you have more questions - I live in Australia and getting started is easy with an abundance of events to choose from in these disciplines in most more populated areas.
When people ask I say "coed team of four with a map and compass travelling between far checkpoints in the bush on foot, bike, and canoe" but that doesn't do it justice. Thanks for the video, I will use this to help explain.
So happy for the privilege of engaging in the pursuit of this peacetime sport. Whomever does the same, I urge you to seek understanding of the political systems that wield authority over the lands (people) through which you travel. After all, the world isn't only our playground. Thank you for this post! Extraordinary!! Ciao.
ian g thank you for this vital piece of information...

Many thanks for this.
*This* should be an Olympic sport. Although it’s far beyond the level of an Olympic sport…
Probably comes close to that of a triathlon, except 3 to 10x harder than a triathlon.
To answer the question in the title: It's hell.
Maybe it's not too late for me to try this out, it looks like a lot of fun!!
Wow. I would so love to do this.

@@ahmedsammoud1924 make sure to speak to as many people who participate as you can. If you have a friend who's keen, tag them along. If you don't have a buddy, let the organisers know. You won't be the only one, and they can team you up. Make sure you prepare, and have fun!
@@CorbinB1989 Thank you so much!! I appreciate it.
Hups!
God this is a disappointment I thought it was going to be tough but it's just a 18 to 30 holiday with some exercise stuff
