Simply put...One of the BEST Bluegrass bands to ever take the stage!..the best harmonies i ever heard in my life,,it just don't get any better than this...sure do miss these guys in action.
How I miss this band! I was a fan of the LRB from their first album, "I Guess Heartaches Are In Style This Year," way back in 1985. But to me, this was the pinnacle of this band. Tim Austin's guitar playing was such a major ingredient. He could blow you away with that rhythm! It's all there, the vocals, Sammy's banjo,,,WOW!!!
I witnessed this song being worked up by the band, for the first time, at a festival they were running sound for. Yes they used to do that back in the day. Spent a lot of time with these guys and they were a major influence on me and my music. This music has stood the test of time. Dan was and still is a mandolin playing machine. Unmatched timing and clarity. The way Tim looked at him as he came out of his second solo....look of total approval and amazement. Great memories!
thanks soo much for sharing. This band got me into bluegrass. I can't get over how much everyone in the band has a BIG smile on their faces. music sooo good will do that I guess.
That is one of the older Flatiron Gibson mandolins that Dan Tyminski is playing with the Dark Chocolate finish that is hard to find these days. Anyone that has one does not want to part with it. A Killer of a Mandolin. Great band !!!
Awesome....Tim....killer rhythm on that old 18! You guys set the stage for that kinda mashin'!! I never took Carryin' The Tradition out of the CD player for weeks! Give us more!
Favorite song of all time. Anyone agree?
