- This video covers some tips and tricks on packaging cotton candy in liquid tight 32oz containers (which holds 1oz of cotton candy), along with 3 mil food safe poly bags and foil faced Mylar bags.
The poly bags are approximately 9" x15", and hold about 3oz of cotton candy.

Thanks for the videos. Head and shoulders above the other content I've seen and so helpful for our community event. x
Awesome!
Aloha from Hawaii!! We currently make n serve shave ice, popcorn and cotton candy at parties. We recently did a popup at a market selling shave ice and hawaiian style popcorn. This video has really helped me learn how to package cotton candy for sale. Hopefully we can sell some at our next market. Mahalo!
Awesome! We started our company in Hawaii and did several markets! We always had an amazing response to our cotton candy in Hawaiian flavors!
That whirlwind is a real workhorse.. I'm impressed. I've been lurking around today on most of your vids learning and weighing the potential.
I currently sell fresh squeezed lemonade and thought this could compliment my business. I like your style
Awesome! Yes! We know of a lot of vendors who do lemonde and offer cotton candy as a "topper" Cotton candy lemonade has been doing really well in a lot of areas!
Hi thanks
I just started a candy shop so I got the machine as well as the sealing machine
now I know how to fit it in a bag
thanks again
all the way from Africa
Awesome!
Thank you so much for your great tutorials idol.
Take care. Have a great time.
Thank you!!
Very helpful.
I've wanted to start a cotton candy business for 10 years, just now getting into it seriously. This gives me a lot to think about, thank you 💜
Awesome!
Did u start ur business? If yes, how is it going?
You should mix your own sugar. Buy flossine and regular sugar and mix it in a pail that can be sealed tight with a lid.
Wonderful information
Many many thanks, glad it's helpful!
I love your videos! So informative and fun to watch. Just a question...could you use an 8” impulse sealer if you’re just doing 8x6” bags or should the sealer be larger than your bag size. I know in your video you said you use the 12”.
You could definitely use an 8 inch!
So much easier that what I was trying 😂.
Thanks so much for your great video.
If I may ask, how much can you charge for the 1oz and 3oz (both mylar and regular)?
Wonderful
Wonderful! Congrats!
I’d love to start my own business doing this! I’m in New Hampshire
You should!!
Myself too

Where do you get your containers? I love this shape and look

Thanks.
Sure thing!
Would a 7 x 14 inch poly bag be the right size to hold the right amount of cotton candy?
So I make my cotton candy by the cone on a carnaval king cotton candy maker! I've been getting swamped making it by the cone so I'm wanting to pre package some in the plastic containers. I'm trying to get an idea of how much a cone weighs? So my question is how many cones would fit in the plastic container?
Depends on the sizing of the cones you are making. I would recommend a kitchen scale to weigh out what you are making.
I love your video! We have two of these machines however we are looking for a better way of packing the cotton candy into the containers, and I can already tell that your system works much better than ours! 🤷♂️. We were using a paint stir stick and wrapping it and then grabbing one hand and trying to fit it into the container which it was hard to control hard to get a right amount and very tough to stick it inside the container. Very inconsistent by taking it out with your hands which I did not think was possible makes it easier to judge by hand and pack it easier! Thansk
One question, how do you keep the spinner from making too much cotton candy while you’re stuffing the containers?
Turn the heat down, the lower the heat, the slower the cotton candy will come out of the head
You can buy paper sticks for packing. The bags can be screwed to somewhere in the booth and you can use one had to hold open the bag, and the other to put the stick in (rotate stick while doing so). Best flossine flavour is cherry, lemon and blue. You’ll find you like different brands of sugar for blending your own. We liked Lantic sugar.
@SpunParadise can i buy this candy floss machine in south africa, how much does it cost or can you recommend something similar please
I would like to volunteer as a quality control and taste tester
Hard part is not getting a sugar high my supply. 😊
Hey I have a small Vevor machine and I am very new to this. The floss comes out the top and seems to fly all over the place rather than stick to the side like your machine. Would you know the best way to make floss for bagging on a Vevor machine? Thanks in advance
The Vevor is a verticle release, so you will need to "catch" it as it's coming out, you could also spin on a cone and then remove it from the cone for a bag.
When you are reaching down, are flipping the heat button off and back on or turning the knob up and down?
I am turning the temperature dial up and down to control the heat.
When we make 3 oz of cotton candy it doesn't look like as much as it does in your videos. Is it possible we are doing something wrong?
What is your recommended sealer brand?
What size spinner is your machine ? Is there a way to get samplers from your company to see what flavors to go with ?
This particular machine is a Gold Medal Whirlwind with a 5 inch head. We only manufacture our sugar floss in the 5lb bags. I recommend ordering the variety packs of our prepackaged cotton candy so you can sample what the colors and flavor strengths are before ordering the sugars. Thanks!
Is there a way to do this with a vivo machine?
I'm adding cotton candy to my artisanal marshmallow business (I make my own extracts and offer about 50 flavor varieties) so I will be making my own sugar mix. What I'm trying to figure out is my pricing model. I want to have an easy price point of $5 (the same as a 10-pack of my mallows), what would be a good volume to base that around? Maybe a tablespoon worth of sugar in a 32oz sealed cup?
1.5 oz cotton candy, which should fill a 32oz deli container. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you or anybody know if the biodegradable plastic containers or sealed paper bags would work? Trying to limit the plastic use if it's possible..
I don't know of any, sorry about that!
Plastic bags are the only way to go. Easy to fill and seal with a bag tie. Paper won't work
"D" what size the the cute small bags that hold 1oz cotton candy you spoke of? Where can I find them?
It's up to you what size you want, the ones in the video are a 10x8. I get my mylar here www.sorbentsystems.com/
Hu, What is the size of the bigger clear bag? I wonder what size bag to use that equals the amount of citton candy in the 32 oz containers.
The clear bag is 3x the amount that is in a 32oz container. I sell the bags, please email info@spunparadise.com
Silly question, how do you measure the ounces? Are you weighing each bag to know in the beginning of this process?
Not a silly question! Put the container or bag on the scale empty, tare the scale to 0 again, now when you put cotton candy in it will jus weigh the candy, not the bag as well. Hope that makes sense!
How long is your heat sealer?
Can you please provide a link to the deli containers used? If you dont mind.
www.cubep.com/products/delicube-containers Use the recessed lid only. Thanks!
where do you clean that machine?
I have the Vivo machine and it does not spin horizontally; it seems like I can only spin on a cone, how do you suggest to be able to package with this machine?
It's a lot more work to package with a Vivo than a commercial machine. The production is a lot slower and smaller volume, you can "catch" the cotton candy as it comes out of the Vivo, but it is going to take a lot of spins to get a container. Again, totally possible, just a lot more time.
Check out the below video around the 5 minute mark to see how you can package with your Vivo ua-cam.com/video/rPODZlASDuU/v-deo.html
thanks for asking this question... I was wondering the same thing.
Hi. What size Mylar bags are those and how much do they hold? Great video.
The bags are found here www.sorbentsystems.com/standupbags_order.html
The one I am using is the 7x11x4
And they hold about 1.5 ounces of cotton candy
@@spunparadise8823 thank you!
what kind of humidity do you have there?
We are in Florida!
This video is shot in a dry environment. For Florida, I would suggest only prepackaged in the most humid months of the year. Tight seal on containers and at least 3 mil thick bags.
Hey, love the content!! I am now a sub!! Where do you order these Mylar, poly bags and containers?

Hello I wanted to know, what labels do you use? Thanks
Uprinting is a good spot to order labels.
Do you sell the bags?
Where do you get the 1St containers you used?
Cube Plastics Deli Cube 32oz container with a recessed lid
@@spunparadise8823 sorry just seeing your reply now. Your videos helped me a lot
My machine doesn't spin the cotton candy around the bowl like that. For some reason I have to spin on a cone only. Why? Please help.
The cotton candy output direction depends on the machine you are using; some machines output vertically as opposed to horizontally. For the Gold Medal Whirlwind we used in the video it has two leather straps on the head that directs the cotton candy horizontally, and we use the bowl netting, both of which assist in production level cotton candy manufacturing. Let us know what machine you have, and we can try to assist further.
@@spunparadise8823How would you package using a Vivo? Do you have to use a cone for it?
Spun Paradise So you are telling me that your cotton candy isn't vegan because you use leather in the production? Yikes, I am learning new stuff all the time.
3 mill is pretty thick for a cotton candy bag does it smash the candy ?
It doesn't smash it. We recommend it be thicker mainly for shelf life to be extended.
How do you seal the bag if you are using a cone?
You need to twist the bag around the cone and then twist tie it, never as great a seal as a heat seal, therefore, cones don't last as long.
Could you please tell me where you got the 3 mil bags? Ty
Our supplier no longer offers them, when we find a new supplier I can let you know for sure, thanks!
@@spunparadise8823 update for plastic bags? What size?
Hii, mam i am from India 🇮🇳 , I have started this business but for me cotton candy gets melt and hard after taking it out of floss machine and same container I used to pack but it gets melt in 2 days .. What would be the reason? And what should I do to rectify this
You most likely need thicker plastic bags and also make sure the bag is sealed really well. If any air or humidity is getting in the bag, it will shrink and harden the cotton candy
Is surrounding temperature also effect on shelf life?
Yes, more the humidity in the environment, not so much the heat.
Where do you buy those containers?
The container with the lid? Cube Plastics Deli Cube containers with a recessed lid. That particular size is the 32oz. The lid is universal to all the container sizes.
Where do you get your product labels?
I like Uprinting.
What's the price of this machine?
I can’t find those bags. What are actual measurements? TY
Which bag? The clear or white?

Hello where do I order the container?
Hi there! The container is a Cube Plastics 32oz delicube container with a recessed lid.
How can i improve the life period of the candy cuz it desolves in few hours?
It's all about protecting it from moisture in the air, so your seal needs to be as tight as possible. If you're bagging in bags, at least a 2 mil thick bag, at the least. Containers need an air tight seal, etc.
where do you gat those containers and bags
I sell the clear bags (info@spunparadise.com) mylar bags come from Sorbent Systerm and containers are Cube Plastics.
On my machine you can make several thousand portions per shift, all the technology has been worked out, I can sell it if there is delivery from Russia to your country, I’m also looking for dealers...
1. No need to let the cotton candy cool down before packaging?
2. Should I still use a dehumidifier?
No, you don't need to let the cotton candy cool. Are you in a super high humid area? Are you packaging inside or outside?
@@spunparadise8823 packaging inside. Not to humid when we spin.
@@spunparadise8823 I'm in Georgia and it's supper humid. It really affects the appearance and amount in the bag once the humidity hits. Any suggestions to help with this and delivering orders?
I use a dehumidifier right next to the machines overnight and for the entire time I’m spinning to battle this. I’m in fl so I feel you. Even then it doesn’t last as long as if we lived in a dry area.
What is the best size for mylar bags?
I like something close to 6x8 or 8x10
What size mylar bags are you using?
6x8
What kind of margins does cotton candy produce?
Extremely high profit. Bag is about 6 cents and sugar is about 5- 10 cents. Bags retail for $2-3. You should use cane sugar and flossine. Much cheaper than the pre-made floss sugar. Been making this stuff since 1967 and still at it. If you go commercial, Gold medal machines are the choice. They are durable and work forever
Margins are high. Cost and margins differ between organic cotton candy and classic due to raw material costs, but both produce high profit margins.
What is shelf life of each- container, bags and Mylar bag?
Clear bags about 5 weeks, Mylar about 2 years, Containers about 5 weeks.
what are the labeling requirements?
Labeling requirements will depend on where you are located. If you are in the US, I recommend starting with getting info from your local environmental health department.
I'm new to this business. The problem is the candy sticks and shrinks on the bag while pack it. Please help me to resolve this.
Did you find an answer somewhere else? Do you still have this problem?
Yes I too facing same problem plz help someone
@@Alexandra-ew3ep no. Only solution is make thicker candies and pack it tighter.

How much does the mylar bags hold
Depends on the size of the bag. The ones I am using hold about 2oz.
Clear bags are reporting that they do not carry the clear bags used in this video???
Yes, our supplier no longer carries the 3mil bag. If we find a great alternative we can let you know. Thanks!
Can i know what kind of gloves your wearing ???
Yes! Gorilla food handlers gloves, they are the only brand I use, they don't break like others!

Will cellophane bags work?
No, the cotton candy sticks to the cellophane.
I'm sorry to say this but you are most definitely wrong in saying you cannot use cellophane bags ,I make thousands of bags a week I just finished making 10,000 bags for the royal show ,and the only bags U like to use are cellophane they are most definitely the best 💞

Hello, this method is already outdated) I don’t like the cotton wool itself from such a machine, there are sugar particles there, when you remove the cotton wool you also need to pay attention so as not to injure your hand, I came up with a vertical machine
