We have many newer and more expensive cars in our home fleet - but if we want to move anything or cover any distances its the old Mondeo Mk4 Titanium we use. The Mondy has covered 130,000 faultless miles (we keep it serviced and even clean the underside once a year!) and I cannot see us getting rid of it. When Ford took over Jaguar, in my opinion, they did lot of good. And just to give some balance to the Ford/Jaguar argument, we also own a XK8 convertible (which has a few Ford parts on it). That is a lovely X type and Dale has looked after it well. Many thanks for posting this - and Seasons Greetings to all.
Lovely looking Jag , super condition and classic lines that don’t date. Been watching you from the start and been great following your progress to what you have achieved now. Looking forward to seeing the business and channel grow in 2024. You deserve the success.
People who criticise the X-Type being a Mondeo haven’t got a clue about how the motor industry works, you can buy any car today and I’ll guarantee you it’s got another car company’s name somewhere on it, try an Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Ferrari, they all do it so stop being badge snobs.
My wife had a new 1998 Ford Mondeo 2.0L petrol estate here in N.Z. It did 300k MILES in the first 20 years, nothing abnormal needed replacing, it's still on the first clutch. It's as reliable as the Toyota Prados I've owned. With saltless roads here, there's absolutely no rust in it.
People who say x type is a mondeo don't have a clue. Its shares about 18% of parts with a mondeo. They are very very good cars if they've been maintained
Not sure it is even 18%, the only item with common part numbers was the wiper motor, most other stuff looks the same but is specced differently ie suspension is valved for jaguar. Tried a mondeo but found the heated screen elements distracting as could always see them, strangely not a problem in the X type. I ran a 2.2D sport estate (no chrome, half leather) had it 3yrs and 120k miles; swapped for a 3 series tourer, only saving grace was emissions were lower, considering it supposedly had 30bhp more it was slower cross country and no more economical.
a lot of the ecu's and some engine parts, plus exhausts were shared with the mondeo and x-type, i worked at jagauar when we launched the x-type, they are great cars as long as the sills havent rusted away.@@kimmeddies6689
As I said in a previous message, it’s just badge snobbery, the floor pan is off the Mondeo that’s the only body part, (and you can’t even see that) the engine is a tweaked Mondeo engine but that’s a good thing , had my x-type sport 3years not one single fault.
God I remember Dale. He had alot of low mileage Fiestas. He is a good guy. That's a Lovely X-Type. I had afew of them in my day. They were mainly used as Company Car's, so you could usually get an immaculate one that's never been sat in the back. My Jaguar was a Blue 2.2 with Cream leather and I loved it lol. Anyway Thanks for all your hard work this year and I can't wait to see where we are this time next year. Happy Xmas too you and all your family. Great year Pal. Enjoy afew days off. I have the 2.0D saloon, manual on an 08 and its a facelift, I've done a lot of work on it but the one thing that makes all the difference to the engine sound is simply installing an over-running alternator pulley, which cost me about £40, and now its super quiet and the rattle sound goes away, the best thing about the 2.0D version is the tax and the fuel economy is better than the 2.2 as well, I love all the x-types in truth and won't get rid of mine because as your friend alluded to in the video they are just so reliable in fact today I spent the day replying a front bearing, and the only reason I had to do that was because someone had replaced it badly at some point in the past, the lady who owned mine had the car for 7 years before I bought it in 2018 and you can tell it had been loved just as I do with mine now. I just love the styling of both the saloon and the estate, my preference was the saloon as I love the curves of the body line, but these cars were way ahead of their time with things like touch screens, driver assistance computers and the like and as someone else has said, they have aged well, look at the BMW's from the same era early 2000's, they look super dated now.. The key with the diesel versions of these cars is regular oil and fuel filter changes, and also to use turbo cleaner spray on them at every service if you can which takes 20 minutes at most, if you service them properly they are great cars.
Hi Craig appreciate you taking the time to leave a long comment, the turbo cleaner is a good shout actually 👍👍👍And I totally agree on the styling of the cars, and how much more dated BMW's etc of the same era look in comparison. Happy motoring in your Jag mate.....even saying that sounds cool 😎😎😎
Discovered the xtype last year compared with other cars at the same price point was a so called No Brainer decision to make, like you say finding a good one now is becoming harder
YT lead me here after watching two videos from High Peak Autos also featuring X types - a saloon & an estate. I have to say I prefer the estate, for it's looks as well as practicality. I'm starting to get very interested in these now. Very stylish Jaguar estate, practical, affordable...and with four wheel drive. What's there not to like. Dual Brit-Canadian here. Currently in Canterbury UK, other home is Vancouver, Canada. Season Greetings to You!
Loved this video, and made my day seeing it, i spoke to you before about a x type 1 owner 30k car i got hold of cheap and sold for £6k after going to town on it
Love the video! I bought a 3 liter V6 AWD x type sportwagen two years ago here in Spain for 3000 euros. BRG, beige leather interior. love it, a tad juicy at 30 mpg, but a lovely drive on long runs. They're starting to get rare, never see one on the road here. keep up the good work!
dales car is a loverly example of them cars . id have the estate they are nice i had a rover 2 litre v6 estate for a few weeks i was selling with 49 thousand miles 2 owners but loved to drive it. sold gone too late to cry over it. hope your family have a loverly christmas and happy new year.
Hi kev & claire, very nice jag this and with that mileage and condition and service history gotta be worth that money all day long, have loved the journey with you guys since i found you're channel and im looking forward to 2024 and what that brings for you guys, have a merry Christmas and a happy new year guys 🥳🎉🎉🍻all the best to you and you're family🙂👍
Hey Mark thanks for being on the channel and along for the journey with us, appreciate the support and the comments, we hope you have had a Merry Xmas and all the best for 2024, Kev and Claire 👍👍👍
Hi Kev & Claire 😀 I hope you can sell Dales Jag for him it’s a loverly looking car so I don’t think you will have any trouble selling it especially when you are finished prepping it. Merry Christmas to you Claire and your family’s and all the very best for 2024. Keep smiling Kev & Claire Tom
Thanks for your kind comments and support with the channel Tom, we hope you've had a nice Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours 👍👍👍Speak soon, Kev and Claire 🤪🤪🤪
I bought an estate 2.5. had it nearly 3 years now. Great car! Over 200,000km. Paid 2000 euros.. just need to replace the antirollbar bushes. Had a new water pump. I love my Jaguar !!
Great video, lovely car, and it’s good seeing Dale back on the channel. That Jaguar is such a beautiful car, and such a lovely spec, I’d love to have a Jaag estate. The only jags I’m not keen on is the last S type, unless it’s a sporty version. Happy Christmas to you all, and I’ll see you in the new year. 🍻 cheers
Hi Kevin, just been on your website, there are only 3cars on there, you need to put all your stock on there, great video by the way ,and what a lovely car.
Hey Alan glad you liked the video, unfortunately our website is out of date because we just cant keep up 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️as soon as cars come in stock they are selling 😱😱😱its mad really 🤪🤪🤪
Ah, good to see Dale again, you too Kev. I finally caught up with Dale at Colchester Castle car show when I was there with my XJ40. An X Type estate would make an excellent companion for it! Happy Christmas to you all!
I'll keep on trying to crack this YT malarkey Stevie 👍👍👍Thanks for your support with the channel, hope you have a nice Christmas and a great New Year mate 👍👍👍👍👊👊👊👊
Stonking video Kev. So good to get the little insights and foibles of the X type talked about. Dale and you should consider doing another one with insights into another make/model. Maybe even cover the effects of registration dates/ emission classes and changes in the on the road running costs that result. Keep up the good work. Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Thanks for the comment David, is always a hard one to put opinions on a YT channel due to the potential of opening yourself up to abuse ya know, but hey!! It is our opinion at the end of the day 🤪🤪Merry Xmas David and a Happy New Year 👍👍

I own a black 2.2 sport saloon. Bought in a hurry and not on my wish list at the time, choice was limited. I'm very happy with it and it is easy to work on, cheap parts, great on motorway and corners well. I'll keep it for a long time and continue to fix all it's little age related faults. 👍
Sounds like stumbling across your one has done you a favour, Black Sport Saloon, that's a good looking car 👍👍👍👍I hope you get plenty more years of happy motoring out of it Andy 👍👍👍

Hi great video! Condition is amazing I love estates my first car was estate. Someone is going to have a cracking car! All the best keep on making videos in the next year!
Ive a 2008 2.2D , fabulous car, fast comfortable , Its distinctive in it looks , stylish, well equipped and you can do a lot of work in the drive way if your that way inclined , and its a jaaaaaaaag Your Government is intentionally killing the second hand market .. there are fields of cars all over England, taken in a scrappage and not resold this is happening many of the really good old cars :(
That's a great comment on all accounts mate, completely agree with all your Jag knowledge, and the government part too unfortunately 😏😏😏Thanks for your input 👍👍👍
I had the 3.0 V6 AWD Sport saloon and I only lasted four months with it as I agree with you both, that engine and gearbox are very harsh and it was horrible to drive..
This car is just astonishing! Unfortunately it's impossible to find and maintain here in Brazil, you have a pain in the ass importing parts for maintenance, you have ZERO parts available here, even in Jaguar's dealers. So sad.....
Had about 20. From 275 Squid V6 saloons to Auto diesel Soverigns. They’re nice enough. When was riding bike about today as a motor trader always looking saw a facelift S Type. These cars have disappeared. The S Type unlove in day. Is a good car. And now rare likely be desirable.
I've been trying to buy one of these from one of my neighbours for 3 years. But he just says to me, what's he going to replace it with? Anyway, been a busy year for you mate. Hope you and the family have a great Christmas and a very prosperous New Year.
Thanks Kenny, the thing is with your neighbour, he will probably buy something and think maybe he should have done it years ago, but whilst these cars are going well, they are a lot of car, proper solid as well 👍👍Thanks for the Christmas wishes bud, same goes to you and yours and thanks for the support 👍👍👍👍
I OWN A X TYPE SOVEREIGN ESTATE 2.2L DIESEL RACING GREEN REGISTERED 16.06.2010 . 54,000 SECOND KEEPER CREAM LEATHER .FULLY LOADED NO RUST NO DENTS ALL WORKING GOOD ,BUT TOLD IT IS ONLY WORTH £3,000 🤔🤥😒 .SO I WILL KEEP IT .🚗.
Got two of them currently. 😊 A Sport Premium and an SE. The SE was 1-owner from new in 2009 until acquiring it in September 2022. A Jaguar FSH too. Now it’s nicely detailed and a total joy to drive. Love the video and the passion you guys have for the X-Type 👌👍
Kev iv seen the video and iv seen the ad on Autotrader, it's up to you mate if you will take £5500 for it as the car sits I will come straight from Gloucestershire and pay you and drive the car away??? Regards, John
Had a silver 2006 saloon 2.2 d sport. Lovely thing it was very reliable and cheap on fuel I had many mondeos in my time and the x type isn't a mondeo it's a much nicer place to be BUT does have the excellent road holding off the mondeo lol cracking cars 😀
I owned one of these from new a 2.5 Sovereign Estate, it was very nice to drive except the squeeks and rattles. I never did cure all of them, the worst culprits were the window switches on the drivers door, they rattled on the way home from the showroom, so i turned round and took it back to be told they all do that! After months of driving me mad i had had enough and traded it in for a BMW 3 Series, no more rattles. From what i understand Jaguar released a service bulletin on how to cure the squeeks and rattles. The later upgraded models were far better, but it was too late, the lemon car stigma had stuck.
It sure is mad how a little rattle can ruin a car, doesn't matter if its a hundred and twenty grand Bentley, if its got a rattle it would drive me mad too 😩😩😩👍👍
They certainly drove me mad, the ones from deep inside the dash i never found, even the dealer admiited defeat, so i rejected the car. The guys assembling them were expected to jump from throwing Escorts togeather to trying to assemble what was supposed to be an entry level prestige car, but it was impossible. Richard Hammond summed the X-Type up the best, it is a little bit of Jaguar but not good enough.@@VisionPrestigeCars
I do love them, classy. BUT check the mot history as many, when they get to 15 years plus, are prone to under body corrosion. But find a good 'un and smile.
I own a 07 X type diesel, saloon,and I love it.Great looking car, very underrated.

You're absolutely correct, such people are an embarrassment to themselves. I've never thought of my S-type as a Lincoln LS because it isn't.
Only 20 % is in common with the Mondeo, everything else is Jaguar.
Let them do their research before talking nonsense

Your Government is intentionally killing the second hand market .. there are fields of cars all over England, taken in a scrappage and not resold
this is happening many of the really good old cars :(
That's a great comment on all accounts mate, completely agree with all your Jag knowledge, and the government part too unfortunately 😏😏😏Thanks for your input 👍👍👍
I had the 3.0 V6 AWD Sport saloon and I only lasted four months with it as I agree with you both, that engine and gearbox are very harsh and it was horrible to drive..
Yeah that's a shame, hard to believe how different they can be with the wrong configuration in them 👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hey Stevie 👍👍👍👊👊👊
This car is just astonishing! Unfortunately it's impossible to find and maintain here in Brazil, you have a pain in the ass importing parts for maintenance, you have ZERO parts available here, even in Jaguar's dealers. So sad.....
Absolute sleeper, these things will be climbing quick given the stealth wealth fashion 😅
The Jag X-Type only used about 20% of Mondeo parts i believe?
🐆 😎 very nice.
Nice one bud 👍👍👍
If anyone needs to replace the micro switch in the tailgate window, a BMW E46,E91,E61 fits, they are a lot cheaper.
Got two of them currently. 😊
A Sport Premium and an SE. The SE was 1-owner from new in 2009 until acquiring it in September 2022. A Jaguar FSH too. Now it’s nicely detailed and a total joy to drive.
Love the video and the passion you guys have for the X-Type 👌👍
How much is it?
£5495 mate 👍👍👍
I had virtually the same car as the grey one, never again. It was rotten,it was like owning a car from 1983 with rust.
Agree on all accounts of your comment there Paddy, I love the look of the Sport saloons 😎😎😎😎good looking cars 👍👍👍👍
I had one for 2 months. Manual 2.2 diesel, could never get on with it
Untaxed since April '23??
Dale said he hardly used it, so he probably put it on trade plates when he needed to.
Completely right Kenny 👍👍👍
I owned one of these from new a 2.5 Sovereign Estate, it was very nice to drive except the squeeks and rattles.
I never did cure all of them, the worst culprits were the window switches on the drivers door, they rattled on the
way home from the showroom, so i turned round and took it back to be told they all do that!
After months of driving me mad i had had enough and traded it in for a BMW 3 Series, no more rattles.
From what i understand Jaguar released a service bulletin on how to cure the squeeks and rattles.
The later upgraded models were far better, but it was too late, the lemon car stigma had stuck.
It sure is mad how a little rattle can ruin a car, doesn't matter if its a hundred and twenty grand Bentley, if its got a rattle it would drive me mad too 😩😩😩👍👍
They certainly drove me mad, the ones from deep inside the dash i never found,
even the dealer admiited defeat, so i rejected the car.
The guys assembling them were expected to jump from throwing Escorts togeather to trying to
assemble what was supposed to be an entry level prestige car, but it was impossible.
Richard Hammond summed the X-Type up the best, it is a little bit of Jaguar but not good enough.@@VisionPrestigeCars
How do I buy this car?
That's a lot of car for the money.
My thoughts exactly 👍👍👍👍
I do love them, classy. BUT check the mot history as many, when they get to 15 years plus, are prone to under body corrosion. But find a good 'un and smile.
This guy sounds like Billy Joe Saunders!
Very nearly bought a new one back in 2008. Though they looked the buisness back in the day.
17:32 Two Bobby Dazzlers there - An awful lot of car for the money
Nice one bud 👍👍👍
Nothing wrong with a Ford Mondeo mine has 158k driving great.
Happy Day's. Pity (for me) It's not an Auto. 🤔🤔
Decent cars shame they like to rust under the plastic cill covers
Junk , I’ve had two , both times the flywheel went on both , they are cheap because they are crap cars
😂green eyed TROLL!
Yeh... It's not a real Jag! Anyone who feels otherwise is kidding themselves. Rubbish car at best! If you want a real Jag - buy one.
been a TROLL long?
1 owner.. LMAO. apart from the years owned by a trader.
"It's a sweet ride, boss, only selling it because there's too much choice. The 2.2 this car has, definitely top of the crop. Look how straight it is."
