I love hearing people talk about things that they are passionate about. Jay certainly fits that bill, and gave me a few ideas for weird trees to add to my collection.
The best part of this landscape design is it feels so natural, yet structured. The rolling movement with the colors is brilliant, many thanks for bringing this to your channel.
I just discovered your channel a week or two ago and I've gone in a major binge. I love your content. And I love Jay Sifford! Thanks for doing these videos with him 🙏🏼
Wonderful subject, plus many cold hardy varieties this time. Love what Jay said in the beginning, when he said he is embarrassed for this one particular kind of evergreen. That's how I feel about espalier trees.
This place is beautiful!! Love the evergreens and as I have watched all of your videos I am really wanting to put in more evergreens!! I work full time as a nurse and my husband is a lifetime cotton farmer or row crop with some soybeans so he is busy the biggest part of the growing season with his own growing!! With 1100 acres here in north Alabama it is nonstop!! I heard you talking about creating the beds first so you have a place for the plants!! It really resonated with me because when I am shopping and come across a plant that I love I get it and have no idea where to go from there!!! I am praying that I can get his help this winter to create the beds I want and then I can create from there!! It is a pretty daunting task to create the beds though!! I wish I could borrow Stephanie for a short time lol!! I have ideas what I want but it is so difficult to relate when you get out in the yard!! I can’t understand anything from writing it on graph paper!! It just doesn’t make sense to me!!
Beautiful garden! I feel very fortunate to have several of the varieties he mentions here but this gives me great inspiration to see what complements them so well.
Jay has been incredibly generous with his time & knowledge. Only a designer could show off these trees in such a beautiful way. Were they hard to source?
Thanks. Most of these came from Iseli. I filled a 24' box truck with those and brought them up from Charlotte. I had another, smaller delivery of a few large trees that came from other nurseries in Oregon. Most of these would be available to you at a very good local nursery, or could be special ordered through a good local nursery.
@@jaysifford9419 Did you go to South Meck High School? You look so familiar to me. Class of '76? If so, hey! If not, hey! Your garden is just sensational!
Magnificent! Thanks for sharing this magical place with us! I’ll definitely be selecting a few from iseli’s wish list through Homewoods nursery there in Raleigh.
Stunning woodland garden! Absolutely in love with the color and inspiration for a corner lot that needs privacy. Wondering...what is the 9:03 tree? It has an amazing habit and color and would like to see if it grows well in my central texas tropical zone.
Here in zone 8b Pacific Northwest, I have many conifers doing well in less light and very moist conditions. I planted some with little understanding of what they need, and am surprised at how well they adapt. One of my cedrus atlanticas is in dense shade, during the summer, which makes it extremely slow growing, but another one in part shade is extremely happy. Blue star juniper does just fine in perpetually wet black clay soil.
Just beautiful! I love conifers but can’t help wondering how yours have developed so perfectly - no deer? Mine have been devastated by the deer to the point that most of them are “topped up” to look like deciduous trees. I never liked that look and now realize why it’s so prevalent.
Are you having problems mainly associating with deer rutting or they are eating your conifers? Some conifers are more likely to be rutted on. Those would include blue atlas cedars and arborvitae. Arborvitae are also tasty to deer. I recommend a great deer repellent for eating (doesn't help with rutting) called Deer Out.
@@jaysifford9419 I have hemlock, hinoki cypress, pine, holly and a beautiful weeping concolor . They have eaten all of them including my rhododendron. A cornus shrub and Carolina silverbell were damaged by deer rutting. I covered the trunks but too late for the cornus shrub. Deer are a real problem in this area. I spray repellent every two weeks but don’t get around to it In winter and they take advantage of my negligence.
@@jaysifford9419 Thank you so much for responding. I have never seen a garden that is as beautiful as yours. You are so talented to put everything together and create this kingdom. I can't stop watching and loving.

This is like an arboretum. Just lovely!
Loved it! So whimsical. Rich. Pretty. Textural. Artistic. Diverse. Thank you, and thanks to Jay.
This is an absolutely beautiful garden. The sound of the birds is wonderful and very relaxing.
Nice to see the lower zone offerings! Gives me hope❤
There's so much color without the use of flowers but foliage. Simply beautiful ☺
Thanks for taking us here; enjoyed every moment. Totally couldn't get enough.
I wanna see this @ Christmas with snow!!
I wanna pitch a tent and stay in that yard for a week or 2. It’s so beautiful ❤️
I was so excited to see another video in Jay Sifford’s garden, it’s so gorgeous! Naming these conifers is a great resource.
Wow, love the conifers in this beautiful garden.
The conifers create the brilliant architecture of this garden. My favorites are the blue spruces which stand out among the green of other plants.
This whole collection of videos are ones I will watch over and over. Love this garden and Jay’s style.

What a delight to see so many beautiful conifers!
Wow. Beautiful garden and great informative discussion.
What a wonderful garden. I love those funky specimen trees.

Since watching the first silent tour video of this garden i have been waiting eagerly for some more detailed videos and the past 2 have been amazing!
This garden is beautiful!!!! What an amazing collection of conifers! It would look so gorgeous in winter as well!
Gorgeous!
Absolutely gorgeous garden. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic short- love seeing these cool trees!
Absolutely beautiful. I love the various shades of green and the different textures of these conifers. I have a big wishlist now!
Love this garden !! I think I may return to your silent tour of it in times of stress ❤
Beautiful
Dude Jim your vids lately have been crazy awesome and so ridiculously informative. Such an inspiration mate.
This garden is amazing!
That is truly a four-season garden! Fascinating! Suddenly, I’m getting planting ideas for the partially wooded portion of the back of my property! 👍

That is picea abies 'Formanek'. Great tree.
Welcome to the Alpines in NC. Right? I really need to up my conifer game. Thanks for the garden highlights.

Hi Jim… holy moly what an amazing conifer garden! I want to live there! Does Jay do Air bnb? I would hop on there like a jet! Loved this tour. ❤
Beautifully designed yard! I would have loved to know the cultivars of the conifers at the end of the video.
The last one is abies concolor 'Blue Cloak'. The one before is picea pungens 'Bonnie Blue'.

You should add a weeping larch to keep your “Cousin It” dogwood company. 😄
Now I'm looking for land up north so I can grow these 😅
🙋
I definitely want a Globosa Blue Spruce 👍🏻. Having a hard time finding one 👎🏻😞
Does anyone know the name of the blue grass that we can see from time to time, for example at 10.20 on the left hand side?
Sure. That's blue dune lyme grass.

I’m with him. The serpentine looks too contrived for this guy.
