  • With all contenders analysed and the competition entries checked, we're able to announce the results of the Football Aid 2009 - Goal of the Season competition. The winning goals, with Pat Nevin's comments in brackets, are listed below -
No 1: N Southend United - Daryl Savage
(A shell of a volley, unstoppable)
    No 2: K - Portsmouth - Michael Jenkins
(Great strike, great vision and fine accuracy with a touch of swerve)
    No 3: B - Blackburn Rovers - Michael Roche
(Cross Bar and no keeper would have saved that, pro or amateur)
Football Aid would like to congratulate our winner Daryl Savage; his spectacular volley just edged out several other excellent strikes this season. Daryl wins himself a special Goal of the Season 2009 trophy and we hope to present this to him soon to commemorate his outstanding achievement.
The lucky winner of our competition (winning himself a position in our 2010 games) was Adam Pearce, and he's chosen to play in our Everton match. We'd like to say a massive thank you to everybody who entered the competition, as well as congratulating our other excellent Goal of the Season finalists.
The pressure's now on our 2010 players to match this season's excellent efforts!
