I like how you mentioned socialization as a healthy free time activity included with the others. Not a lot of self-improvement videos stress the importance of this. Isolation is good in moderation when you need to focus or self-reflect, but we are social creatures and we need to talk to and have fun with others. Of course, as long as you aren't doing anything destructive while hanging out with friends. (i.e. drinking or smoking excessively together) Most of the time, I feel more inspired after a good hang-out sesh. Especially because I'm friends with some musicians as well. Great video!

this was a perfect perspective and very much reminded me of the transform Rick Rubin went thru in his life to change from a unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one. it all falls into place the more you set the chaos into order
Honestly man, this couldn't have shown up in my recommended at a better time. I'm now what I'd call an "intermediate" level producer (a little over 2 years into it). I've enjoyed four moderately successful singles (especially for how small my follower counts are), and I'm really really thankful for that. But recently I've hit an awful mental struggle. I'm feeling a lot of that mental chaos you described; promotion feels intimidating, trying to come up with a brand is difficult, writer's block comes up, etc. Suddenly I feel like my creativity has just drained out of me all at once. It's been a really hard week to get through because sitting and opening the DAW just annoys me. I'm almost taunting myself like "come on bro why can't you do this" or "you should be making something so much better now." I'm also about to turn 27 and constantly deal with this made-up pressure that I need to be doing better because I'm getting older, and there's all these 18 year old kids churning out bangers while I suck. It's a whole storm of stupid mental shit. But as soon as you mentioned the Pareto Rule, it's like a light turned on in my head. I use the 80-20 rule at my work all the time, so why not apply it to music production and the rest of my life?? I immediately wrote down all the stuff I'm filling my time with. While some stuff is good and non-negotiable (like hanging out with my wife; that's kind of important, haha), suddenly I could see all this other extra crap that was so unhelpful. My workout schedule is non-existent, but I play video games at least a couple hours a few nights a week. I don't wake up at a consistent time every day, but mornings are when I've planned to work on music! So if I wake up later, I'm losing time I would have doing what I actually want to be doing! This stuff is so obvious and so in my face, but I've been so caught up and bogged down by media overexposure that I haven't even taken a moment to see what my problem is. I can see what lifestyle changes would help me be more positive, be more productive, and more in touch with myself. This video was a huge blessing to me. Thank you. This is some of the best music production content I've ever seen on UA-cam.
It is a struggle my dude and I'm so glad to hear that you wrote some stuff down and saw what's benefiting you in your life. And obviously we all know what is right or wrong for us but we tend to lean towards the wrong things most of the times. You also mentioned that you are 27, you see all these 18 year old kids popping off and it kinda puts you down (It's like "Why is it even worth it, I'm too late" mentality. But there is also the other side of the coin. I'm 21 and sometimes I think "Oh I have all the time in front of me". Both are self sabotage behaviors. Imagine if I kept that mentality and then all of a sudden I'm 27. Then I will be regretting the time I've wasted. You can either sit there and be jealous of the younger producers or decide to completely disassociate yourself from them. Your craft is irrelevant to other producers, that's why you shouldn't even worry about them. Build a relationship with your music and the comparison will slowly start to fade away, trust me...
This comment hit home for me, I’m 25 and about a year into production, my music is still far from release-worthy and can be really disheartening when you work really hard on a track and then its still nothing compared to what the pros are doing. Sometimes I feel like there’s so much to know and understand that I couldn’t possibly retain all the information at once. It’s so easy to get bogged down when you’re trying to learn everything yourself from sound selection through to mastering and distribution. I only do music production as a hobby and for fun, but it would be nice to get to a stage where I felt confident posting to spotify etc, right now I feel like I’m still progressing my ability but I’m stuck in that I can’t get my tracks to not sound like they were made by an amateur, which of course they were, but I’d love to achieve a more professional sound. I know that the best way to progress is to just keep going, which I will, but sometimes it does feel like I’ll never get to the point where my music sounds release worthy. Good luck with your production, I hope you have a bunch more successful songs!
@@Oni_Cluelxss Thanks so much for the encouraging words. It's comforting to know there are others feeling similarly honestly haha I hear you on every point. I really encourage you to keep pushing through, especially at this stage. There's this sort of critical point at the one year mark where a lot of people quit because of reasons you've described. I pushed through that year; in the second year there was a lot of anguish and self doubt that followed, but suddenly I had a breakthrough and was making better sounding stuff. And damn when I got to the point that I made a track I genuinely loved, it was all worth it. Persevere through this and you will start to get that sound you're after. It just sort of happens, it's weird. Also, as far as the knowledge retention goes - and I'm sure you've heard this a million times over - I'd say make sure to keep finishing ideas no matter how good or bad they sound. The more times you 'complete' the process from start to finish, the better you will get at and learn about each aspect of it - songwriting, sound design, mixing, mastering, etc. Imo that's the best way to retain the knowledge. Also it's sort of cliche but it gets to the point of what Fiko is talking about - make sure you're prioritizing the music itself. You gotta do this because you love music and you believe in _your_ music. The mixing, mastering, etc. is secondary. I lost sight of that recently (as my original comment describes) but wouldn't you know, just yesterday after sorting through stuff in my head I had a great idea going. The best I've had in weeks. I was vibing and just having a good time. Funny how that works :) I wish you nothing but the best in your production journey and hope this is helpful. Stick with it and you'll get there!!
@@winterlogical Wow, honestly this response means a great deal to me. Thank you so much for your genuine advice. Knowing this is a crucial time, and one which many people quit at, I feel inspired to keep pushing through and producing even when I have doubts. I can totally feel that slump where I’m starting to force myself to produce rather than genuinely looking forward to it, and it’s largely because I’m trying to do too many things. But I will hone it in and I will definitely keep on going, and thanks more to your comment than you probably realise! I couldn’t agree more with basically everything you’ve said. You’re spot on. I do try to make sure I finish anything I start (the very vast majority of the time) and I totally agree that this is the best way to retain all the info and learn. Things become second nature and no longer require such extensive thought. Again yes totally with regards to focusing on the music itself. All too often I find myself spending copious amounts of time on things which as a hobbyist just aren’t a primary concern, and it puts you off sitting down and doing it because you’re not having fun anymore. Also I agree about finishing ‘bad’ projects as a means of learning, trying to master my bad mixes has been great for gaining insight for future projects. Though I’m still very much lost with mastering. I think as someone who does this purely for fun, I need to, as you say, focus more on the music itself. I should put more time into just making tracks and enjoying my hobby haha. I wish you the absolute best with your music and your life otherwise. May I also comment winterlogical is a damn cool alias. Stay clueless brother.
Why is meditation everywhere? In every motivational content? Because YES. Everytime i feel connected to someone that understood how to improve their work, there's meditation. Every. Goddam. Time. I'm so happy to see more and more people getting into it. It's a lifechanger, seriously.
Well said, what is for you wont pass you by, you have to show the universe that you are worthy by first respecting yourself, the rest will surely follow... Whatever it is x
Love this man. Great central message. When you are disciplined with your time it's a form of self love. The #1 best thing you can do as an artist is create your art.
Great video. I often find myself getting lost watching UA-cam videos. Always trying to get more and more info, while that time would be better spent working on music and honing my craft. That being said, I'm going to close this window and work on some music.
I’ve been journaling a lot recently thanks to you, and it’s really helped me unpack a lot of shit in my brain. Thanks for the inspiration and guidance brother. Really appreciate the work you’re doing.
This is philosopher level advice. We're all a bit guilty of living unhealthily, I know I am. Through selectivity we're all able to shift and bend our own realities. Thank you. (Edit; I subscribed withing the first minute).
I've been doing this thing where I stay out on my porch for hours in order to get more fresh air, and try to walk outside every day. Whenever I'm outside with nature, I get UNBELIEVABLE musical ideas. Very simple healthy habits can help you enjoy life more and create the music you want.
that’s real talk! that video applies on music, design, medicine…and goes on. that’s a way to be present in your own life. it’s kinda clichê and it generates a paradox about needing a routine on your day to be sucessfull but we need to start somewhere and I share that vision. great video! keep up and motivated 💎🧠
Damn thank you Fiko for the time and effort you put to make a producer community a better place and open up eyes of thousands of people who watch your videos. Keep working on that because you are the diamond speaking words everyone needs to hear!
This is very true. I've noticed than when I rap really fast and drop singles on bandcamp, I get more sales than when I slow it down, make a video, post on streaming platforms, and do all this unessassary work. I also noticed that making UA-cam shorts gets more engagement than sharing with everyone on the internet. Don't work hard work smart.
Happy to connect with you. I have done a loooong hustle. Changed my artist name thrice. Now I am back again as a better artist. Like you said, I started appreciating myself for whatever I have done. ❤️ Love to u ✨🎩 Switching into a healthy lifestyle ✨🎩
Having hobbies is good for inspiration. Sacrifices are important to maintain productivity. And REAL BREAKS to turn off are essential to not burn yourself out. Doing the things you love won't burn you out. It is doing all what you think is necessary to employ to keep doing the things you love.
Thanks, bro! That's something that has come to my mind these past few days... how much I'm wasting energy and time. Thank you for your words, they were exactly what I needed! I am now switching from consumer to producer. 💪

great video i've been making music for three years now and it really can get overwhelming sometimes! i hope other producers see this and can be inspired to follow their passion.
There’s pretty crazy expectations for this generation of artists. At least it feels that way to me sometimes. You said a lot of useful information in just 12 minutes man! It’s difficult to avoid being stressed when there’s so much to think about. Gotta cut out all the garbage
Doing gods work my friend. If you are young and feeling lost/unmotivated take note and implement these things while you can and your years after will benefit greatly.
This is the type of video that I need to see especially as a upcoming music producer myself because not only I have to work on music, Myself needed to be worked on too and I be too worried about the little things in life but your video had changed me alot!!!!!! Its like a self reflection on things that has gotten me better but once again thank you!!!!!!!!!
You actually described my whole path trough production ,and every problem that came with it - but then also described every step I took to solve them. Time management is a big thing. I have a whiteboard in my bedroom with reminders of my priorities trough out the day and a whole schedule for the day. -That said. I still plan to produce for 2-4h but then I get lost in it and spend all my free time. ...yeah..
A God Bless you bro it’s an reason I seen this video thank you for this I appreciate it this stuff I been struggling with I’m just trying to be the best me I can possibly be all around but I salute you bro thank you💯🤝

Thank you for this inspiring video. As a part time music promoter/blogger, university student, DJ and part time programmer its very hard to manage everything without missing something out. This video gave me an idea how to sort my life somehow.

I can easily relate to this video game issues, spent too much time to get nothing in return, until the day I lost my PC, which was kind of a good thing, sure my musical production was heavily affected, but in the bright side my life became really healthy. I know I won't be commiting that mistake twice. Also, really great video, it helps keeping things into perspective
This is what I needed to hear and so many others this is one of my favorite channels because I feel like now a days not many people keep it real and I’m thankful for it
Ironically, I just started doing this to finish a project I’m working on. Only allowing myself 1 hour of leisure so music is my only form of entertainment. I’m making a lot of progress quick as hell.

Thanks for your video! I'm sure it's gonna help a lot of producers and artists to get better, more productive, and less overwelmed and stressed in the same time. Brilliant! One Love!
I think I needed to hear that. Ive wanted to turn my lifestyle around for quite some time now but somehow always fell back into the easy and lazy unhealthy habits. I feel like after watching this video I actually am able to achieve it now! Thanks man :)
This is factual! I gave up video games and going on tiktok and shit and came out with nothing but good results, completed and dropped my first album, learned a bunch of new aspects with editing and promotion of my own content and so much more in the daw…
Very insightful video. Definitely made something click in my mind. Now I only have the hard task of taking this 3am motivation and carry it over to the next day so that it doesn’t get lost tomorrow.

This is why I have not used social media or video games since starting this journey of music production 4 years ago. So happy to see this video!
This man is spittin facts, best producer video I’ve seen all year. Everybody can benefit from watching this
Why is meditation everywhere? In every motivational content?
Because YES. Everytime i feel connected to someone that understood how to improve their work, there's meditation. Every. Goddam. Time.
I'm so happy to see more and more people getting into it. It's a lifechanger, seriously.
I don't
you have some good advices for meditation?
Well said, what is for you wont pass you by, you have to show the universe that you are worthy by first respecting yourself, the rest will surely follow... Whatever it is x
Love this man. Great central message. When you are disciplined with your time it's a form of self love. The #1 best thing you can do as an artist is create your art.
Great video. I often find myself getting lost watching UA-cam videos. Always trying to get more and more info, while that time would be better spent working on music and honing my craft.
That being said, I'm going to close this window and work on some music.
wow!. After all these years, I've been enlighten and soulfully free from mental blocks. Thanks FIKO
I’ve been journaling a lot recently thanks to you, and it’s really helped me unpack a lot of shit in my brain. Thanks for the inspiration and guidance brother. Really appreciate the work you’re doing.
so glad to hear that my dude, thanks : )
This is philosopher level advice. We're all a bit guilty of living unhealthily, I know I am. Through selectivity we're all able to shift and bend our own realities. Thank you. (Edit; I subscribed withing the first minute).
I've been doing this thing where I stay out on my porch for hours in order to get more fresh air, and try to walk outside every day. Whenever I'm outside with nature, I get UNBELIEVABLE musical ideas. Very simple healthy habits can help you enjoy life more and create the music you want.
Be a Producer not a Consumer words to live by🔥
Protect this man at all cost!
Good video again!
that’s real talk! that video applies on music, design, medicine…and goes on. that’s a way to be present in your own life. it’s kinda clichê and it generates a paradox about needing a routine on your day to be sucessfull but we need to start somewhere and I share that vision. great video! keep up and motivated 💎🧠
Damn thank you Fiko for the time and effort you put to make a producer community a better place and open up eyes of thousands of people who watch your videos. Keep working on that because you are the diamond speaking words everyone needs to hear!
appreciate it ♥
i feel like you put so much effort in to your videos but dont get the recognition you need , but anyways keep it up🔥🔥
One reson is the thumbnails and titles, watch the youtube channel film booth, it will help.
Don't work hard work smart.
yeeess new fiko vid
🎉
Thanks for doing this video, you talked about things that I think everbody knows, but nobody take care of it. This video opened my mind
love that this secretly spiritual, self improving application to music was recommended to me
This was helpful 🤝🏼
You speak the truth man. God bless you for spreading life gems to the young Gz trynna making it. Much Respect 💎
This video is a piece of art
Another solid video brother! Spirituality is the coolest topic ever man !
thanks man, it sure is : )
Happy to connect with you. I have done a loooong hustle. Changed my artist name thrice. Now I am back again as a better artist. Like you said, I started appreciating myself for whatever I have done. ❤️ Love to u ✨🎩
Switching into a healthy lifestyle ✨🎩
Having hobbies is good for inspiration.
Sacrifices are important to maintain productivity.
And REAL BREAKS to turn off are essential to not burn yourself out.
Doing the things you love won't burn you out. It is doing all what you think is necessary to employ to keep doing the things you love.
Bro this dude just broke down life and the purpose of it through music production, genius 💪🏿
Thanks, bro! That's something that has come to my mind these past few days... how much I'm wasting energy and time. Thank you for your words, they were exactly what I needed! I am now switching from consumer to producer. 💪
i really watched this. living a healthy lifestyle and focusing on music. if you wanted a goal out of this video know it least one person watched all the way through and payed full attention . it was me
I'm 2 mins in and I'm already hooked...the entire intro is how I got started and what I've gone through :o can't wait to finish the vid!
i saw my self. i need to CHANGE!
Man! I came to your channel by this video!
No one talks like this ! Every broducers felt the same thing! Subbed!🙌
You know why i like him? he might not be a worldwide producer or the best one BUT!!! the guy actually guiding people to develop healthy mentality for achieving and getting stuff done! I really support and admire that niche. BIG UP MY GUY!
great video i've been making music for three years now and it really can get overwhelming sometimes! i hope other producers see this and can be inspired to follow their passion.
A lot of these things apply to all artistic passions and hobbies. I'm currently trying to get into fashion design and your videos have helped me
Kinda blew my mind. You literally described my life in the past year in the beginning.
your honesty and direct way of talking is massively inspiring. thank you 🙏🏼
This is the type of video that I need to see especially as a upcoming music producer myself because not only I have to work on music, Myself needed to be worked on too and I be too worried about the little things in life but your video had changed me alot!!!!!! Its like a self reflection on things that has gotten me better but once again thank you!!!!!!!!!
Dude you are an angel.. One week after watching this video my music preduction is better across the board.. thank you so much
Genius. I just uninstalled a video game and realized it was a good move. Your video is very clearly presented and with great energy. Thanks
I love that you're into spirituality !
You actually described my whole path trough production ,and every problem that came with it - but then also described every step I took to solve them. Time management is a big thing. I have a whiteboard in my bedroom with reminders of my priorities trough out the day and a whole schedule for the day. -That said. I still plan to produce for 2-4h but then I get lost in it and spend all my free time. ...yeah..
A God Bless you bro it’s an reason I seen this video thank you for this I appreciate it this stuff I been struggling with I’m just trying to be the best me I can possibly be all around but I salute you bro thank you💯🤝
Honestly, you all knew what he says before, but the way he says it, makes you think it's possible and willing changing your life. Thanks a lot for that!
no
Thank you for this inspiring video. As a part time music promoter/blogger, university student, DJ and part time programmer its very hard to manage everything without missing something out. This video gave me an idea how to sort my life somehow.
crying fam this is exacly what we needed
I have never felt so called out before as I did watching the first 2 and a half minutes of this video.
Video in perfect timing for me! I've been feeling the weight of all of that and have gotten anxious to where i don't move and get anything done. this was a good reframe and reminder, thank you :)
Can't tell you how grateful I am for your videos.
Thank you so much for this. It's reinforced and changed my perspective on so many obstacles I've found in committing to my career full time. Fr some of the realest advice I've heard in some time 💯❤
Fiko! thank you so much for this video mann truely! i'm going through this unhealthy phase but gonna change it and be more healthier and creative! TY!
It was the short vid you added in at 4 minutes that added the most value for me. Great Reminder! 💜🙏🏻
Love his honesty and really got me feeling good about this
wow… that video rlly started me questioning myself and my lifestyle… thank u so much for making that video
This honestly made me look at and question a lot of things about my own habits. Thank you
This is what I needed to hear and so many others this is one of my favorite channels because I feel like now a days not many people keep it real and I’m thankful for it
I really needed to hear this. I’ve been living a pretty unhealthy lifestyle and have been wanting to change. This really inspired me thank you!
Ironically, I just started doing this to finish a project I’m working on. Only allowing myself 1 hour of leisure so music is my only form of entertainment.
I’m making a lot of progress quick as hell.
at least the first 2 minutes and 17 seconds spoke directly into my soul lol so on point
Thanks for this video! it really spoke to me right when I needed to hear THIS!!!! Love all the way from South Africa!
Bro! This video is such an inspiration. As soon as the video started I was like: "WTF! This guy knows EXACTLY what I'm going through!". The advices you give make a lot of sense. I just love you man! Thanks for your video! I'm sure it's gonna help a lot of producers and artists to get better, more productive, and less overwelmed and stressed in the same time. Brilliant! One Love!
not all heroes wear capes, mad uplifting
I think I needed to hear that. Ive wanted to turn my lifestyle around for quite some time now but somehow always fell back into the easy and lazy unhealthy habits. I feel like after watching this video I actually am able to achieve it now! Thanks man :)
You got this bro 🖤
Beautifully made, time management is incredibly important for our growth
This is factual! I gave up video games and going on tiktok and shit and came out with nothing but good results, completed and dropped my first album, learned a bunch of new aspects with editing and promotion of my own content and so much more in the daw…
Its people like this that makes the world a better place .
Listened to the whole closure man your Music is a gem u def hittin the Algorithm👌🏽👌🏽👍🏽
preciate that fiko... as someone whose delve into spirituality, Thais whole video related to me more than you will probably ever know
Just watched this & your video about if you feel your music is not good enough, you kept it so real man amazing content that's so relatable👏🏿
Very insightful video. Definitely made something click in my mind. Now I only have the hard task of taking this 3am motivation and carry it over to the next day so that it doesn’t get lost tomorrow.
Banging advice dude, love your honesty! Thanks for sharing your experience and progress it's inspiring! Also thanks for calling out the unhealthy habits and helping prioritise what's important 💜
Never seen this dude before, but I love music production and I'm getting into self-improvement, I'm subscribed.
Damn did this video come at a right time. Getting this nailed down is exactly what I'm struggling with and the way you put it makes a lot of sense. I think I've heard many iterations of this before, but there's just something about the way you present it that resonates with me.
