I know you’re trying to support your ads but I prefer being able to see you guys while you’re doing the ad reads. The zoning out from Dusty, the holding back laughter from Aaron, the disappointed grandpa from Bates and the always questioning if having these guys on the pod from Nate make me actual enjoy the ad reads vs skipping over them.

It’s great to see such praise for Brian Regan on this pod. I’ve been a fan of his since the 90s and I’ve since introduced my son to his comedy. It has drawn us closer together and now comedy is something that my son and I will always have to share. And now the BAND is carrying that torch. Thanks guys.

Glad Nate got to Graceland, Elvis is truly a fascinating story. My neighbors dad hung out with Elvis as a part of his racquetball crew. He said he was paid as a staff member but all he did was play racquetball and hang out. He said that Elvis was incredibly generous. He had to stop “working” for Elvis and had to go help his Dad’s construction company. Elvis bought him whatever car he wanted and put an envelope of cash in the glove box. He said he had a big heart and that’s why he got exploited at the end.

In this episode (#124) the guys were talking about the Powerball quite a bit. It made me think of something I do with my Algebra students when working with Combinations and Permutations (odds of winning the Powerball fall into this category). I take my class out to the football field, give the students some tools, and then ask them to estimate the number of blades of grass on the field. If they do a good job their answer should be between 200 million and 500 million. The next day we calculate the odds of winning the Powerball off a single ticket, it’s about 1 in 300 million. So then we go back out to the field and acknowledge that having any sort of confidence in winning the Powerball would be a similar experience to thinking you could choose the “winning blade of grass” out of the entire field. Undoubtedly, there are students that walk off the field saying, “I think I’d pick the right one.” 🤦‍♂
    Love you guys,

This year, I’m celebrating Turkey Day by giving thanks for Nateland. My work often involves difficult conversations and heavy situations; but you four get me laughing every single week, and it truly lightens the load. Seriously, thank you!
That brings me to an interesting question for a group of comics: when your life gets heavy, what lightens the load? I’m guessing you don’t start telling yourself jokes or reciting your routine in the mirror…

Thanks, Aaron, for bringing up Nate's bear conversation with Rogan. Y'all were talking about laughing so had to pull over and that's what I thought of! We were on a road trip, headed home to Kentucky from Chicago. I was driving while my husband and kids were sleeping. When Nate asked Rogan about the bear, I lost it! I scared my husband, woke everyone up and had to totally regroup. I was crying, I couldn't see. Everyone was mad at me, but it was worth it. And no car accidents. I did get a speeding a ticket last week on the way to Nate's show, but I digress...

Anyway, I mostly listen to the podcast in my car and always talk it up with whatever passengers I have with me. I’ve turned a few people into Nateland folks. I recently took my 16-year-old niece, Jessica, to Chicago for the weekend and, while she appeared to be sleeping in the car, I turned on your podcast. I found out a few days later from my sister that Jessica texted her the message, “Call 911, I am going to jump out of a moving car if I have to keep listening to this podcast.” She’s not a fan yet, but I’ll keep working on her. To Aaron: all the Noble gases have an effect on your voice. Argon is what you were about to mention that LOWERS it, as do some others. Those are actually dangerous because they are heavier than oxygen, so they will settle in your lungs, making it so oxygen cannot fill that space and will cause you to suffocate. So for Dusty, helium doesn't defy gravity, it strictly follows it and is an example showing that gravity exists. When you breathe in helium it raises your voice, but since it's lighter than oxygen the oxygen you breathe in afterwards quickly fills that space as helium floats up and out of your lungs. That displacement is why your voice goes back to normal so fast. Also quick note: if you breathe in the heavier gases, it does work to stand upside down to breathe oxygen back in so you don't suffocate!

I’m pretty sure I get mistaken for a homeless person regularly, but one time I think I actually scared people. After a fun night in college, I woke up to my friend banging on my front door like she was the fire department. Apparently, she had lost her phone the night before and was wondering if I had it. No such luck. She asked if I’d search the city with her for her phone. We looked on the sidewalk she cried on at the party and in the parking lot she puked in on the way home. I called her DD for the night to see if she had it. No where to be found. So she goes to ATT to get a new phone. I’m waiting for her in the car when her DD calls saying she found the phone. I hurry into the store to tell my friend, dressed in a black t-shirt, hot pink pajama pants, and a hot pink baseball cap. Probably also hot pink crocs. Oh, and a red coffee mug filled with water that I should’ve left in the car. As I open the door, sirens start going off right down the road. A lady in line looked at me, startled, and asked if they were looking for me. I yelled across the room to my friend, who was being helped by a sales person, that her phone had been found and we made a quick exit without saying another word. I get it, Dusty. I get it.

Just got back from Nate's early show in Philadelphia. A couple of people yelled Hey Bear at the beginning and Nate seemed annoyed and responded with an unenthusiastic "uh huh hey bear." That was a bummer.
His act, however, was very funny and clocked in at a little over an hour. Worth the price of admission. So, Nate, congrats on a job....done.

You guys talk about people fighting bears, and you need to see this video. Look up John West Salmon Bear Fight ad. I think this is a pretty good representation of what Dusty imagines when he talks about Barry Sanders fighting a bear, but I'd love to hear yall's thoughts. Love the podcast, you guys are hilarious!!

    Last comment of the episode...maybe...
We used to go to my dad's childhood home, a cabin in the Blue Ridge. One fall we went there, first stop was the outhouse which was filled to the brim, packed side to side with nuts.
That weekend we went in the woods and let the squirrels keep their nuthouse.

The issue with the bibs is not just about people seeing them. Bibs have a GPS chip that record runners’ time as they pass through a series of “timing mats” on the course. If someone has a really fast time that seems suspicious, they use that data to see if any timing mats were skipped.
There are some “professional” course cutters that will give their bib to a faster runner so they qualify for big events like the Boston Marathon

I'll probably never sell out a club doing comedy, but I know what it's like to be a celebrity because I have been a teacher with a birthday. Kids from every grade came up and wished me happy birthday. They know how excited they are about their birthdays so they get excited for teachers too. At one school I taught at, the whole student body sang "Happy Birthday" to me.
Don't be a birthday scrooge, Aaron. Let people share in your joy.

Speaking of flying, lots of people talk about having dreams where they're able to fly. The only time I've had one of those, my flying ability was like swimming upstream into the air, and on top of that it was very unreliable. So I had to jump up from the ground as high as I could, hope my flying abilities would "kick in," and then start flailing my arms and legs as if I swimming for my life, just to try and get up to sit on the branch of a tall tree.

She is charming and funny, you can tell where he gets it.

Mike Rowe would be my choice for sure. He's intelligent but relatable, and appeals to a wide range of backgrounds and walks of life. The only downside would be if the aliens discover that they've found someone who can do their "dirty work" for them...in which case we might be in big trouble, lol!
