Do any of those people actually study engineering at UNSW though?? Dr Kellerman is extremely good at what he does and is a terrific lecturer however the experience of ACTUALLY studying engineering at UNSW was strikingly worse. It’s night and day. UNSW has been cutthroat with their budget cuts, especially for the faculty of engineering. Nothing ever actually worked.
Kellermans courses are run very well, and all the lab staff are very competent and great people. Other lecturers can provide quite a crappy experience, especially the tutors who often have broken English, speak very quietly and don't explain their working, other than just reading out what they are writing. Not all, others such as Charlie Kos, a student, was one of the BEST teachers I have ever had. As good as the greats, such as Kellerman and Milan Pahor. Regarding budgets, between 2020 and 2022, they slashed budgets, and as a result things like student projects. Some were left with minimal funding, and zero travel and lab funding. This has turned around. Some great lecturers, like Daniel Mansfield left, and went into the public sector, likely due to uncompetitive salaries (this is only a guess). This is due to universities across Australia, relying on international students for funding. And we get academic brain drain as previous governments have neglected academic and scientific funding - so some of our great academics and lecturers end up overseas, or in the private sector. I also won't forget about UNSW directly paying for Vice Chancellor, Attila Brungs' Private Yacht Club Membership.
Who's going to say No to a pitch that is using this technology?
