i agree fishing is so pointless in deep it should honestly have more loot exclusive stuff involved or maybe events from it like mobs that you can only encounter thru fishing stuff like that
Just like how they could fix cooking by adding the chef oath
Fisherman oath is cooler
I get it that Sushi getting his wish gave everyone hopes, but damn my mutual, CHEF OATH? We should be asking for more lore development and quality of life, not more "useless" stuff. (Seriously, how many people do you see in chine running Fadetrimmer? Or even the chef weapons??!)
reworking cooking by letting you add ingredients similar to alchemy would be so cool

Maybe an addition to the authority origin? (if central lumen comes out, it can have a 2nd spawn there just like deepbound having a spawn at CL and Diluvian)
You'd spawn at Forti merit with additional buffs to fishing and sailing, gaining more EXP when fighting monsters on those small world-event islands ie. this one abandoned prison-esque island with threshers would give you more EXP compared to others, Or near water/in water in general.
You'd also of course gain more EXP from fishing.
The fishing buff talent would be called "Fishermen Heritage" granting you a better fishing rod (would just look more fancy and be a bit bigger, maybe having some engravings like the instruments from the nightwish event) On top of that, You'd be able to reel in fish faster, Fish would find it harder to escape (talents from fishing an X amount of times stack), and the bait you use lasts for two throws instead of one.

Funny enough, my first hour fishing for legendary weapons got me nothing but a golden swordfish-
Which sprialed into that entire build focusing around the funny fish
I wish I could fish in layer 2 parasite pits, imagine what kind of random stuff I could find there, besides dead people covered in parasites.
i dont think the ignition union and the divers fw this idea, if by some miracle the fishing rod worked in the second layer, you would prob fish out an atrocity unkown to man

Finally someone speaks about something IMPORTANT, i think all fish dishes need a buff since they suck compared to their vegeterian counterparts which could be another reason no one bothers fishing (only good ones are urchin stew, seafood boil and calamari)

As a person who has been fishing since like verse 1 , i would LOVE to see this rework, it would also be more awesome if there was more fish.
as a terraria enjoyer, i think they could add obsidian rods specifically so you can fish in saramaed hollow and catch lava dwelling sea creatures that made their way up from layer 3 or something
Just fished 2 hrs for the new twinblade weapon. I missed like %80 percent of the chests until I macroed
why would you fish for it though, pretty sure you cant even fish up ferryman chests
@@Redz20iq oh I thought it was a ferryman drop lmao, pretty sure you can just fish at the fishing spot at boatsman since that's apparently the best fishing spot from what I've experienced
It would be cool to see a sort of fishing based monster hunter origin. Like an origin where you progress through exploring new areas in the ocean where there could be other fishermen who task you to fish up like massive sea monsters which you have to defeat to level up. Knowing the devs though they would probably make the origin in 2 hours and make the only unique enemy a kaido reskin.

ngl i would add only the first thing lol, also the notes in bottles could be a good way to add some more lore or quests, imagine if they do an ingame arg where at the end you can complete a mystery to make a random island rise with some loot on it

What could make a fishing origin better is the end game usage of it, maybe let it have easier access to monster mantras or something idk. The ignition union origin becomes practically pointless at max.
you can farm smiths alloys and you basically have a free chaser if youre a deepdelver since you can enter layer 2 at bounder nest and skip half of l2
@DieLit5 True that the smith's alloy part is good, but a lot of people don't want to risk dying or disconnecting without a light hook.
I think that is too much to add. Like, they aren't bad ideas, but they're just gonna take a while on it. Fishing in the current state of the game feels more like an extra thing you can do to get some loot from chests and even knowledge from golden fishes, as they prob should be since they're a super extra thing you can do
Of course it'd take a while, but it'd be something that would become a good baseplate for the future with new content, it would allow it to become more diverse in what it can support. Unlike it's current state.
this might just be me, but whenever i fail at fishing "witch rarely happens for me" i DO feel like it my fault and i can see where i messed up (also fishing is skill based its just a bit janky) feel free to disagree in the reply's if you want to talk about it

It happens in like every roblox game fishing, mining, lumbering all of those systems are usually just flat out made and ignored in the game

They ripped the fishing system straight from Sea of Thieves and still somehow made it worse
It's sad that people will make entire videos dedicated to trying to add more flair to a forgotten mechanic with detail of everything you could do that could likely get implemented in a weekly and then it'll get completely ignored and we get the 8th new flamecharm legendary weapon instead 💀
Luckily I’ve been talking to Arch behind the scenes, he seemed to like the idea of a fishing overhaul. So we’ll see..
