The main problem with this is not whether overall it's a nerf or a buff, it is that this is a major playstyle shift for Milio that is being forced by strange balance changes. Anyone who picks Milio right now isn't doing so to play a poking AP champ, they want to play passive anti-engage or vs enchanters aggressive W+E. Poking with Q does not fit into either of these playstyles because you want to constantly be holding it for either the engage supports, enemy adc winning trades vs your adc, good CC + angle to secure a kill or once again, holding it because enemy jungler is not on the map.
I pick Milio to use him as a Q nuker running AP builds. Hell, I've even done Milio jungle with that build and had success with it. Nerfing the E somewhat and buffing the Q isn't exactly a gameplay shift. They reduced power on something strong and gave more power to something not as strong. This gives Milio a bit more diversity and from what another comment said, the Shield still breaks even once you get a certain amount of AP.

Every part of the game is strong for him when his laning is supposed to be much weaker to compensate the fact that his ult in teamfights is ridiculous. Taric has a similar thing right now where his ultimate in teamfight and his early game is also bonkers but that's ONLY if you can get on the enemy. Milio can kinda do everything for little sacrifice.
I think the main reason Milio can win every trade on lvl 1 is his passive, that grant bonus dmg when casting the shield. Lulu also benefits from this since her passive also help her basic attacks
A lot of sups have a safety net. The problem was his Q doesn’t function well as poke. Now it does so he’s on the same level as other supports in that regard.
I mean, yeah his lane got slightly nerfed, but Milio lane is just Echos of Helia waiting room and then you beat anything (if you are even until then). Since you get Helia around lvl 9 only the shields are slightly nerfed, but you break even at 100 AP, so after the second item you are stronger then before
@@nightcorechords5705 you get a Helia Stack for each tick of the DoT. That's what makes it so strong. Depending on Limit and how many enemies are affected by the DoT you can heal up to 1,5k of Helia with 1 W alone, whilst doing like 1000 damage
I like playing Milio as a solo laner or more of a DPS support going full AP and making his ball a nuke. Would echos still be better to run on a full AP DPS build since it works in a unique way with his E? And does echos proc on himself or only on an ally?
I like the q poke more than the e poke. I wish his fuemigos worked like oriannas ball and casting w and r would be smaller campfires on multiple e shields
Playing against hard engage like naut, leona etc. you need to save your q anyway, so you cant poke with it and your E deals less damage so i think its really bad
Imagine he could cast 2 Qs. One from himself and 1 from the ally his W is attached to. Just reduce the damage accordingly and you have a lot more skill expression. Different from Zed too, since you're relying on your ally's positioning and your W isn't stationary.
i find it funny that only enchanters and adcs ever get their "degenerate" gameplay loops removed from the game. meanwhile we still have shyvana chunking people for 80-180% of their healthbars from 1800 range. bruiser build assassins of all varieties, lethality yoric is left untouched, lethality aatrox is left untouched, tank bel'veth is left in tact, pyke's existance in his current state, illaoi auto winning fights in a singular 950 range skillshot. I can understand what they were trying to do, but I doubt people are going to use his Q for poke. It does so little damage if you're not maxing it, and people typically max either W or E first (Q maxed last). Glad about the Q range though, most of the time the range was too short to catch people who are fleeing. Also the W recast range, it is meant for you to be able to make it follow a new target from further away, not for you to make your W travel a far distance. It's good if you are in a teamfight and get distanced from your team, you're able to manage your campfire a bit more.
It has a 120% AP ratio and very high base damage. People don't max it because the cooldown is too long and if you face anyone who isn't a IA bot, they just walk out of its way

Also unless the opponent isn't behind their wave you're going to inevitably, gradually shove the lane back, and you're also using your disengage tool so you're opening yourself up to be taken to pound town by enemy jungle

Even as a more defensive enchanter, Milio like all supps, is supposed to be applying pressure or you will squeeze your adc out of the laning phase and even get them killed. As for your “low damage comment” no it’s not low damage. Poke is poke, regardless of the number. As for your “it will get healed away” comment, this is a lack of understanding of support. Poking is not just about getting people low or killing them, it’s about forcing action. Before the changes it was better to apply E to self, walk up and auto. If the Q was guaranteed to hit, wouldn't hit the wave and I don't need it on standby, then I would use it - but most of the time before the changes it was better to keep it on standby in case you and ADC are in a position to go on the offensive and you need that cc+slow to help ADC run the enemy down.
We at Milio mains are pretty pissed about this. We're gonna keep q to hold a disengage anyway. Using q to poke just pushes the wave for your ADC. The W change is nice but the q buffs do not warrant the E nerf it's horrible

honestly i like the Q buff alot, never like how low range it was. its like you have to put yourself at risk just to land a Q.. so more range is a welcome change. Im thinking that maxing Q is going to be the way to go now that E is nerfed and Q is buffed. more poke = more damage/slows, and better peel because there are so many dash champions that he will always be good. looking forward to trying these new changes as a milio main
tbh I understand the lvl 1 trade patterns with E can be uninteractive, but I don't see a reason for Millio to see a playstyle shift into Q spam instead of an aggressive buffer enchanter. I enjoyed Millio for the fact that he was an aggressive enchanter as opposed to a defensive enchanter like Lulu or a mixed like Nami
1:22 Consider this: He can walk to red on his way back to lane, drop his W, then path back to tri > lane, and the W won't snap off as fast. So jungle can get great benefits if Milio paths mid or jungle, and they're clearing anything on their bot side. With that being said, he can also walk to mid from base, drop W, then path river and it will also give mid lane the majority if not all of the benefit before disappearing.
The way Milio gets played won't change - he's just going to be weaker, and still be played the same way. RIOT cannot make Milio's Q into something he wants to poke with without much bigger changes than this. At the very least, landing Q on an enemy champion would need to refund both half mana AND half cooldown. Nobody is going to toss out a Q every 10 seconds.
The W range change is a HUGE buff! If it works like I think so xd. Beacause right now the distances is not about Ball and Ally champion but Milio and ally champion. So often times in a fight ur ball was on one character and u wanted to move it to another one u could not do it. Because Milio was too far away from the other ally champion. But with that buff if I understand it right you could do it so its huge!

Yep. This is huge. Balances out Milio’s E trade early but finally makes Q much more versatile and now supporting a little outside of W range is viable. They nailed it again on another kit adjustment, it’s exactly what he needed.
In what universe Milio can out trade at lvl 1 with E? His damage is negligible and the shield itself is just a placebo effect before items, you pick him for his mid to late game potential not this cheese weird play
Honestly never see him (outside of aram), but 2 applications of E shield using base amount of shielding probably does win him most trades when everyone is level 1 and got like 10 bonus ad.
TH server, We did it with a 6x shield and 6x damage plus movement speed. It is easy to auto-attack the enemy support, then repeat it until level 2, then play safe. He can deal around 100-150 damage to the some support without losing HP. By the way, if the enemy ADC isn't stupid and attacks Milio just 1-2 hits, this will never happen. It like Nami W+AA but safer.
i would like to be able to max qwe on milio but feels like its optimal to do the opposite ewq because the utility is all there. nerfing e and passive will definitely feel bad though so much of his early pressure is just being a lil rat bastard and shielding yourself with auto attacks and canceling any engage with q(leona e kekw). but with a q more he does poke more but still 10 seconds of downtime and no peel after poking feels like a big nerf depending on your adc too. more passive playstyle i guess
Since they're changing some of the things in his kit, I thought of something that would be a cool addition! Why not let Milio kick his W towards his allies using his Q and also ricochet his W using his Q projectile? It would be so sick and it would also make sense considering the extended cast range. One other thing to consider, but a strange one. Maybe: turn his W into a toggle? Maybe drain more or less mana based on the distance it is from Milio and it could also drain a bit from the attached allie up to a certain threshold, alongside Milio.
@@harris9324 What he's saying is that it WILL change a lot. This could save a fleeing ally when you're too far away. Even if it healed just 20HP, that could make the difference.
I kinda like this, having Milio as one of my mains. I do tend to play him in a more pokey style tho so it might just be me. I like to Q minions so it hits the ADC in the fall zone, and it's not hard to pull off especially on low mobility champs + the Q circle tends to land where there's enemy champions, so to me it's somewhat of an early game buff. Sad to lose that extra bit of shield early on tho
id like the W to get more love honestly, probably at minimum faster speed since the range got buffed too. a higher healing output is probably a bit of a stretch but hey i wouldn't complain
Why would they nerf his only interesting interaction? Nerfing the shield I can understand, but the Q is not going to be nice to play against. His Q already was pretty good at disengaging. I see him as being too similar to Janna in concept, now his kit is going to be even more like her.
I want the q to hit at the same time the cc ends ,there have been many times that I hit my q and a flash or a dash from some champions simply mitigates this damage and its the only reliable source of damage that milio has
Q getting a speed increase isn't the buff that a lot of people think it is, it's less likely to do an initial cc hit against a champion because when it was slower, the hitbox is more persistent so you HAVE to walk around it, now you can just walk beside it and reach his adc faster.
Tbh I feel like Lucian generally sucks with enchanters. Nami and maybe Janna might do for him but he works much better with tanks because he has to snowball lane, otherwise he gets outscaled by any other adc
So instead of trading with e, now he just pokes with a lock on q. Riot really did it this time, like at least they nerfed his fire and shield, which makes him unable to freely all in after a couple of levels

Does nothing. The whole point of Q is that is a peel ability, using it for poke ammounts to you wasting mana when your W costs 100, just to deal mediocre damage and put yourself in a position where you're engageable by the enemy. So now if you use it to poke and get exposed to engages you can....get a shorter window where you can get engaged. Basically they're nerfing early game Milio damage (despie Lulu being able to do the same but better becouse she just does more damage and all of her abilities are point and click) to give him a redundant stat and have his late game being the same.
the Q and W are amazing!! the biggest issue I always had with Melio was his range and Q cooldown, so I'm very happy those are getting buff. can't wait to be a bit more active in team fights!

W cast range actually helps if you stand way back and you need to change on the target (if both faraway)

Never use Q for poke. Anyone would understand if they got dived once how useful his Q is as anti engage, he’s not a poke champ

1:22 Consider this: He can walk to red on his way back to lane, drop his W, then path back to tri > lane, and the W won't snap off as fast. So jungle can get great benefits if Milio paths mid or jungle, and they're clearing anything on their bot side.
With that being said, he can also walk to mid from base, drop W, then path river and it will also give mid lane the majority if not all of the benefit before disappearing.
The way Milio gets played won't change - he's just going to be weaker, and still be played the same way. RIOT cannot make Milio's Q into something he wants to poke with without much bigger changes than this. At the very least, landing Q on an enemy champion would need to refund both half mana AND half cooldown. Nobody is going to toss out a Q every 10 seconds.
The W range change is a HUGE buff! If it works like I think so xd. Beacause right now the distances is not about Ball and Ally champion but Milio and ally champion. So often times in a fight ur ball was on one character and u wanted to move it to another one u could not do it. Because Milio was too far away from the other ally champion. But with that buff if I understand it right you could do it so its huge!

Yep. This is huge. Balances out Milio’s E trade early but finally makes Q much more versatile and now supporting a little outside of W range is viable. They nailed it again on another kit adjustment, it’s exactly what he needed.

In what universe Milio can out trade at lvl 1 with E? His damage is negligible and the shield itself is just a placebo effect before items, you pick him for his mid to late game potential not this cheese weird play
Honestly never see him (outside of aram), but 2 applications of E shield using base amount of shielding probably does win him most trades when everyone is level 1 and got like 10 bonus ad.
TH server, We did it with a 6x shield and 6x damage plus movement speed. It is easy to auto-attack the enemy support, then repeat it until level 2, then play safe. He can deal around 100-150 damage to the some support without losing HP. By the way, if the enemy ADC isn't stupid and attacks Milio just 1-2 hits, this will never happen.

i would like to be able to max qwe on milio but feels like its optimal to do the opposite ewq because the utility is all there. nerfing e and passive will definitely feel bad though so much of his early pressure is just being a lil rat bastard and shielding yourself with auto attacks and canceling any engage with q(leona e kekw). but with a q more he does poke more but still 10 seconds of downtime and no peel after poking feels like a big nerf depending on your adc too. more passive playstyle i guess
Since they're changing some of the things in his kit, I thought of something that would be a cool addition!
Why not let Milio kick his W towards his allies using his Q and also ricochet his W using his Q projectile? It would be so sick and it would also make sense considering the extended cast range.
One other thing to consider, but a strange one. Maybe: turn his W into a toggle? Maybe drain more or less mana based on the distance it is from Milio and it could also drain a bit from the attached allie up to a certain threshold, alongside Milio.
That's good for me to hear, whenever i used to play him i would very often miss the Ball by One Centimeter xP

I kinda like this, having Milio as one of my mains. I do tend to play him in a more pokey style tho so it might just be me.
I like to Q minions so it hits the ADC in the fall zone, and it's not hard to pull off especially on low mobility champs + the Q circle tends to land where there's enemy champions, so to me it's somewhat of an early game buff. Sad to lose that extra bit of shield early on tho
id like the W to get more love honestly, probably at minimum faster speed since the range got buffed too. a higher healing output is probably a bit of a stretch but hey i wouldn't complain
I feel like the W recast range buff is moreso for moments when he's in backline and is trying to switch W from one frontline ally to another

Why would they nerf his only interesting interaction? Nerfing the shield I can understand, but the Q is not going to be nice to play against. His Q already was pretty good at disengaging. I see him as being too similar to Janna in concept, now his kit is going to be even more like her.
I want the q to hit at the same time the cc ends ,there have been many times that I hit my q and a flash or a dash from some champions simply mitigates this damage and its the only reliable source of damage that milio has

Q getting a speed increase isn't the buff that a lot of people think it is, it's less likely to do an initial cc hit against a champion because when it was slower, the hitbox is more persistent so you HAVE to walk around it, now you can just walk beside it and reach his adc faster.
milio is one of the most fun champions im glad his early game got some big buffs

I don't see this changing much of anything. Take him back to his release or leave it alone. Just another enchanter that you will lose if you get too far behind and has no clear if people are trolling.
The people behind these changes obviously don't play Milio. Q is not for poke, only noobs play him as AP based cuz only one source of damaging ability output is really not great for going AP. All his kit is centered around buffing up shields and healing and stat increasing for your teammates. #fail

The whole point of Q is that is a peel ability, using it for poke ammounts to you wasting mana when your W costs 100, just to deal mediocre damage and put yourself in a position where you're engageable by the enemy. So now if you use it to poke and get exposed to engages you can....get a shorter window where you can get engaged. Basically they're nerfing early game Milio damage (despie Lulu being able to do the same but better becouse she just does more damage and all of her abilities are point and click) to give him a redundant stat and have his late game being the same.

the Q and W are amazing!! the biggest issue I always had with Melio was his range and Q cooldown, so I'm very happy those are getting buff. can't wait to be a bit more active in team fights!
