- March 19th is Father’s Day in Italy, and these ricotta cream puffs are a tradition in many parts of Italy. I recall fondly making them with my mother on an older episode of Lidia’s Kitchen.

Hi Lydia, You are a comfort to me. Your food is the Best. Your presentation us even better. Every bit of you is in that food. You have my deep thanx for making my world brighter. An inspiration to women everywhere. You are just a gem. My sympathy about your Mom...but God blessed you both to have had each presence for so long! My Ma died at 74...way too soon...she was jyst learning hiw to be herself, and I had many more places to go with her in all avenues if life. I was 43, her 74. Now at 66, I still regret all I hadn't known about her and was about to discover. So, to you Lidia, you are blessed to have had Grandma for so long, and she is in a better place chillin and waiting for you ( in the distant future) . I am sure that you know you can talk to her anytime.

My grandmother, who came from southern Italy would make these as a turnover and she called them sweet raviolis. She was a fabulous cook and this was my favorite. You have no idea how long I searched before I found the real name! My mom and her siblings only knew it as the sweet raviolis and sadly, none of them made it like ma grandma. She's been gone almost 39 years and I would do just about anything to spend one more day with her!
I will miss Grandma.

Can you bake them instead of frying them?
Yes you can, and they are delicious!
I never saw Zeppole this small, and technically they should be eaten fully cooled. They looked more like cream puffs than Zeppole.
