The numbness in my hand is a normal thing. There are three nerves in our hand that are the median nerve, ulnar nerve, and radial nerve.
If these three nerves are in problem then numbness in the hand is a natural response from our body to protect the area which is affected by the problem.
Numbness can also be caused due to many other reasons such as working for long hours on the computer, carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetes, etc.
The 10 most common causes of numbness in the hand are as follows:
1) Carpal tunnel syndrome - This is a condition that occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm to the hand, is compressed.
2) Cubital tunnel syndrome - This is a similar condition to carpal tunnel syndrome, but it affects the Ulnar nerve.
3) Tarsal tunnel syndrome - This is a condition that affects the posterior tibial nerve and can cause numbness in the foot and ankle.
4) Thoracic outlet syndrome - This is a compression of the nerves between your collarbone and first rib.
5) Peripheral neuropathy - This is a general term used to describe any type of damage to the peripheral nervous system.
6) Cervical Disc Herniation: A cervical disc herniation happens when one or more discs between cervical vertebrae bulge out through a weak spot. If these discs press against nearby spinal cord or nerve roots, it can cause neck pain radiating down towards the shoulder blade along with symptoms such as tingling.
