What crazy about this song is that it predicted a real situation: a crazy fan named Mathew broke into Em's house in the middle of the night and told Em he was going to kill him. Em knows how to speak crazy though, and managed deescalate the situation. Look it up, it happened in earlier this year. We got really close to losing Em. But you got to figure that this song inspired the real Mathew to try and kill him, and it adds another layer to the message of the song of Eminem being haunted by his past and being trapped in the dark reality he created with his raps.
The really scary thing is, that Stans brother (Mathew) was 6 years old, and Stan came out in 2000 - the Mathew that broke into Em's house in 2020, was 26 years old😱 it's just really creepy
The whole first part is a double entendre. First you think it's about a woman but then you realize the song is about stans younger brother getting revenge on Eminem.

I was flipping away looking for a reaction video that would capture exactly how you should feel when you hear this song and I finally found it. She was so genuine and you can tell the way it made her feel was real and only the greatest artist can do that. This song is so underrated because people don't see the layers of what he's really talking about until they listen to it multiple times and research what he's truly saying. Even the layered echo sound of a demon rapping along side him has meaning. It's like a demon or maybe even God depending how you interpret it that's talk to him telling him he better stop doing what he's doing because in the end when the cameras are off, the glory is gone and he has to pay for what he's done. It's a really deep song and a lot of people don't appreciate it because it's just goes over there head. He put his soul into this song, you can feel it. This guy is the GOAT, period. As an AMATEUR writer. That last verse is one of the best examples of self reflection, word play, and internal rhyme ever written onto a pad. It gives me goosebumps too EVERYTIME I HEAR IT! I dont want to type a huge paragraph or go on and on about the verse, but I will say this. His cadence is top tier. Em says "tragic-portait-of an artist tortured-trapped in his own drawings." Which is a great allegory! The diction chosen is advanced and the thought of his own work taking control of his life and trapping him in a tragedy is genius and I will FOREVER respect Eminem for his work, especially this verse. Ik when he dies I'm IMMEDIATELY going to listen to his discography and when I relisten to this song, there's no doubt in my mind tears will be shed.

I was like 16 or 17 when this song came out. That last verse brought chills. There was so much emotions he put into that, you can feel it. Pain, sorrow, doubt, anger, regret, ambition, grit, determination, commitment, and so much more. I would imagine, these feelings are what you feel during the beginning and the inevitable end. The starting line, and the finish line. Experiencing life and death.

This is a man pouring out his soul in music form. He basically created his own metaphorical reckoning for all of the sins he committed without a second thought. The level of self awareness it takes to really pick yourself apart like this is astounding. In Stan he shared the point of view of a mentally ill and obsessed fan. This time he took responsibility for his part in possibly inspiring such behaviors with his lyrics. He's older now and he realizes he can't just say "They're just words." those words do affect and influence people more than he can imagine.He certainly isn't going to start censoring himself but he is definitely more aware of the repercussions of firing free floating hostility at anyone just because it fills in a rhyme well.
This song hit me way harder after I listened to it multiple times which has always been a telling sign to me of an artists top tier talent.
