How’s Our TINY Foal Doing? - Baby Horse Day Two

- Day two for our TINY foal! We go over a few things, like size comparison and answer a few questions like “Is he a premie” “Does he have to have a bottle” etc. We also show you how we take care of a new foal for the first few days of its life.
Our first foal of 2024 has arrived! And a bit sooner than we had anticipated!!! We believe this foal came a wee bit on the earlier side, right around 330 days. Which is the earliest a foal can be born and not be considered a premie. He is definitely on the smaller side for a foal and by far the smallest we have ever had. He is just adorable though and we are smitten with this sweetheart! We so not have a name picked out yet but will let everyone know once we do! This foal is a Missouri Foxtrotter and will be registered.

FOAL WATCH has begun here at the homestead! We are SO excited! The mares are getting closer to their dues dates and are starting to show a few signs, indicating that foaling may be near! In This video we go over due dates and who is due first. We hope you are as excited as we are to see these new foals and watch their impeding births.
Sioux is bred to Oliver, which will make their foal a cross draft.
Chablis, Rosie and Jessie are all bred to Bob and their foals will be registered Missouri Foxtrotters

Hey folks, over the the last 45 years I've had dozens of babies. They've been from Wyoming bred production to world class show babies.. I commend you for your care of lil' flash man. He would not have survived with out your intervention. You took the right amount of work to ensure your heard survives. Dang proud that horse sense survives. You folks are true horsemen.

This baby is lucky to be born in such a caring, and thoughtful family. So kind to wrap him in your own jacket so he could get warm for the first time since his birth.
62 lbs. He sure is tiny, but has a lot of gumption - that life force that helps him to keep on trying to get back up & going to his mom, though uncertain where that yummy.warm milk was at first. ❤
Chablis' behavior towards him when eating is much like me during that first cup of coffee... Never tried raising my leg in a warning, might just try that with the grandkids.... 😂

I don't know much about mama horses, but when I was nursing my baby I had an unquenchable thirst and appetite. Nursing burns a lot of calories. Congratulations on the sweet little boy.

To anyone who said you were too involved and should step back, they obviously have never seen videos of Thoroughbred births. I thought you all did a great job of only stepping in when help was needed.
i just have to say ...i find it a bit rude that people criticize you all for how you choose to treat YOUR horses and foals...you have ALWAYS been totally honest and forthcoming about everything and that's one main reason i subscribe and love your channel ❤🐴....o yea! i forgot to say how excruciatingly, scrumptious, delicious and irresistible that baby is! ...my choice for name could be... Bob's Biscuit or just of course Biscuit....since hes so scrumptious ! lol
I haven't seen anyone be rude but I'm new im not seeing anything wrong they are inside sheltered while bubs gets stronger the pen is bigger than a stall so she's not cramped they have food and water the pen is cleaned and they helped only when they needed to help I did the same when my cat birthed I'm glad I was sort of hovering slightly or I wouldn't of known a kitten was stuck and she needed assistance after I helped get him out I put him down let her do everything with the sack and I watched to see if he would make it or if I needed to step in again I didn't and that baby he just passed at age 12 people are so ridiculous deaths can occur if you don't help sometimes

Little guy might not technically have been a preemie, but he sure arrived quite early. He should catch up, though. Adorable doesn't even begin to describe how gorgeous he is.
It is important to intervene, just as you did, when newborn is slow to gain strength. Otherwise they may get too tired and give up trying. Great job!❤

Baby looks like he is doing very well. You watch, he will grow to be big strong and healthy. He is so cute now, but he will be a gorgeous man horse.
My granddaughter was born a month early. She is now 20 yrs old and 5'11". He will grow up to be a handsome stallion.
I keep thinking of him as Apricot Bellini. He is such an interesting color, it will be fun to see what color he ends up being. Sometimes little guys turn into strapping fellas.

Just love the way some fell they know it all. You did the right thing in making sure the little guy was going to be alright for the night. The mare knew her foul needed the assistance in getting his feet moving so he could possibly nurse. I think you know what you are doing plus it was not her first foal.

You’ll find his best name and he may just tell you!

He's just adorable.. i watched the video you posted of his birth. Mum did a wonderful job until she spotted food and how she just left the little man in his sack for her human midwives to sort it. She did an amazing job and so did her humans who made sure the little man was up and fed. I spotted exactly how small he was when he stood under her. I cant wait to watch him grow I'm expecting him to be one big horse when hes fully grown. Xx

I think you guys did a great job, stepping in - when needed, especially to get the sack off around him. His mamma did very well with him, too. Such a beautiful foal..... love his color. So glad he was able to stand, and get about with-in the next morning - with a bit of a help from you. Names for the new foal..... "Butter Cream", or "Butterscotch". What a cute foal..... wish I could meet him (I love horses!!). Congrats!!
When I see wat this woris doing to our animals it just makes me sick,and here r some good people did incredible 😁they were vigil but gave mom some room,and that baby is gonna be ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and in capable hands...makes me feel proud that there still people out there doing the right thing 😊😊🐴
