I once bought a quarter horse stallion for one dollar. With papers. He looked so bad that the vet told us to ask for our dollar back because we got cheated. He proved to be King Ranch bred. Also a fully trained cutting horse. He was badly foundered and it took us 3 years to bring him back to full health.

I had cody, bar bailey, poco, and a few others..my arabians were morific and bask.. but lol most of what i owned was kinda what you had..but no papers...ahh the hand feeding , and watering, and trying to get them up , so worth it. I miss having horses..

My first horse was a pity buy at 50 dollars. He was so thin and hungry he laid down in the trailer to eat the crap on the floorboards as I was trailering him home. He was only 6 months old and was skin and bones. I had the vet out and he was appalled at his condition, gave me a feeding schedule, which I followed to the letter. He turned out to be the sweetest guy, a willing partner and a great all around horse. He was my partner for many years. I love seeing scarlet, she’s turning out to be a beautiful little mare. Great job seeing her potential.

I’m 74 now. He’s been gone for so long but I still smile when I think about him. I could jump on him from behind and he’d just stand there. He was 14.1 hands of sweetness. Great little horse. I rode that boy everywhere all the time.

@@janetrodriguez914 Patch (an adorable nickname) and Apache (a badass, majestic name). A star on the forehead. What a great mark! Don’t know anyone personally who had a horse that’d let you jump on them from behind. My mom was very close with her horse TT (Town Talk) and the most accomplished jumper in IL as a girl and then young teen and he’d never let her do that. So, yeah, a once in a lifetime bond and horse. Very great.

@@henrimatisse7481 I don't think I'd use the term 'flip' because she rescues them, and then works to find them good homes. They don't just go to anyone who wants to buy them, and she's not out to profit but to save them and give them a good future. There are definitely people who flip horses like homes, but she is not one of them.

I have such respect for the way you are training Scarlet. I've spent 40 years of my life with horses, including 15 years rescuing abused horses and caring for them in my own stable. Now I'm 71 and live with daily pain from arthritis and 4 surgeries. So I watch videos of horses and trainers. You are the best I've found so far. I admire you for your methods and knowledge. If I had not spend so many thousands of dollars on horses (and dogs) over my work life, I'd be able to afford joining and making a purchase for you on Amazon. Know that you are admired by so many quality horse people. Many other trainers use methods I don't agree with. Keep up the great work. (From Newfoundland, Canada)

Thank you for your post and saving this precious girl🐴🧡!!! Your positive thinking, patiece and empathy is commanding. I love animals and patience and love will conquer everything. Last year a little green bird flew into my window( now i have bird feathers hanging that signifies danger to them) and was lying on the deck...it was a warm October day, I picked her/him up and put it in the roll of my tshirt hem. We sat on the swing seat, me with my coffee and ciggaret and prayers for it to recover from the shock which could take from minutes to longer time....we sat there and after 45 mins. it held its head up to me, stood on its little legs and flew away. This was a feeling I will treasure forever. So I say patience is gold and universe will always hear your wish💫

Nice-looking little mare, with hopefully, a great future. I had a similar experience many years ago, when I went to an auction and saw foal after foal going through, each making no more than a tenner, and nearly all going for meat. I resisted temptation for a while, but then I couldn't help myself and I bid on a little grey filly. Had her for twelve guineas, and it cost me more to transport that baby home. She wasn't much to look at, at first, and she only made eleven hands, but that's typical for a Welsh Mountain pony. I felt ridiculous riding her when I broke her in, four years later - she had no problem carrying me, but my feet nearly touched the floor! She grew into a fantastic kid's pony and went on to give a lot of children a great deal of pleasure. If only they all had that chance.

These are so satisfying to watch, I'm back to watch it a second time. You literally do everything right from your pace with the horse to quarantine protocols to protect your herd, to sensitization without overloading etc. I have watched a few "rehab" videos on youtube and by and large I almost end up yelling "nooooooooo!" at the screen at least once, usually more, but your videos are the exception. I find myself saying "well done!" every time I watch one of yours. My family has been raising and training horses since the 1890s, I wish my grandpa and my youngest aunt were still around so I could show them your videos, they would have really enjoyed these as they were the two in my family that did the most rehabilitating of horses.

This little mare's lucky day was the day you bought her at the auction. What a pretty pretty mare. Love her name Scarlett! Sometimes the least expensive turn out to be the best horses. I especially love your $25 story, because I have one too.💕 When I adopted our little Mustang mare 15yrs ago, as a 2yo, it was the first time the BLM had come to Southern York Co, PA. One of the hottest days in July.😅 Horse nut that I am, it was the wrong thing to do, because the next day (Saturday) they had the auction, but this is when they had started doing the auctions differently. They were offering them for $125, rather than an actual auction. You just had to be the first one to fill out the form, get approved, and you were the proud new owner. I was 55yo at the time (now almost 70). Had horses since I was 16...and one of the 2yo mares caught my eye, and my then 12yo daughter was begging me to buy one. She was an awesome rider. Horses loved her. We didn't have the facilities to gentle one, but there was an awesome TIP trainer there from Southern NJ. She actually works for the BLM now. Anyway, around 4pm I found myself filling out the form. Went into the BLM trailer, handed the lady the form. Since they knew Kristen, I was automatically approved...and the lady says, "That'll be $25." I'm like, I thought it was $125. Her words exactly, "It's the end of the day, it's hotter than hell, and it's a mare. Just give me $25 and we'll call it a day."🤣 She left with Kristen at midnight, who put 30days on her, then we took over her training. We've had her for 15yrs now. Best mare I've ever owned. She totally took care of my daughter on many a trail ride. Smart as a whip and love her to death. Nobody believes she's a Mustang....and I love telling my $25 story, too. People always compliment us that she's such a beautiful horse, then ask....a Quarter Horse? Once someone said she was a mini-Warmblood.😅 I, literally, have to raise up her mane, as it falls on the wrong side, to show them her brand before they believe me.😆 One thing is for certain, once you have a Mustang, you'll always have a Mustang.❤

It's been a weird couple of warm days here in the Boston area. So while you're getting snow & cold, it's going to hit 80° F today here! Unbelievable!
I love watching your videos whenever I can. You have the best soothing voice.
    🤗

my friend left the halter on his horses until he found one of his horses dead. She had tried to scratch her face with her rear hoof and she got her hoof caught in her halter and struggled until she died. She and many other horses fan free range on a very large pasture and my friend hadn't seen her in a while and went looking for her where he found her. By the way her name was Scarlet. You may want to stop leaving their halter.Just a suggestion.
I found your channel just today and I love what you do with these (UN-trainable) horses. Keep up the good work Miss Clever

We had a mustang yearly and my deceased husband had a AS. Degree in equine science from Scottsdale Arizona and chosen by CHAUNCEY STABLES WHO USED TO OWN WITH WAYNE NEWTON. THEY BOUGHT NABORR. SJ had the unique empathy to work with equine. And we were mindful of building relationships. Thank you for sharing. 🎉

…I would love to see more videos on Scarlett’s progress. 🥰 I enjoy all of your videos, and no fancy editing or graphics needed. The way you presently do them is excellent. I am visually impaired and your videos are easy to watch, informative for people learning about horses, and you speak so clearly. Thank you. 😁🌷♥️🌾🐴

Im very impressed with your training and patience on your $25 filly. She's seems to have a lot of sense and just needs love, patience, and time. I live in Texas and have had some good horses that I have broke and trained, but I am now looking at the beautiful Mustang horses. I went to my first BLM auction but didn't buy at the time. However, I have looked into it more and after reading your article, and hopefully more to come, I look forward to finding a baby and putting my time into it. Thanks for your great video. Looking forward to more.

What a precious girl, her crooked blaze is absolutely darling. It breaks my heart that so many horses and ponies have such traumatic or neglected lives, and then end up in a sale where they are judged to be unworthy of rescue due to their fear or poor physical condition. Thank goodness for people like you who can see their potential despite their rough appearance and are willing to invest the time, money, and care to help them recover and flourish. Seeing these poor horses learning to trust humans again just warms the heart like nothing else. Their transformations after all the TLC make me choke up every time. Every horse and pony deserves to live their best lives like Scarlet. What a lucky girl to have found a home with you ❤️
