SEA GRAPE (COCCOLOBA UVIFERA) TREES AN ECOSYSTEM FOR MANY LEPIDOPTERA SPECIES

If you are seeing this video, you have probably seen some of our other videos describing the discovery of the lifecycle of the amethyst hairstreak, Chlorostrymon maesites in Broward County, Florida. This 2023 discovery helped us better understand a poorly understood ecosystem that exists for many butterfly and moth species that utilize sea grape trees (Coccoloba uvifera) as a larval host as well as using the blooms as a nectar source. Iin this video, we will show you some of the other species of butterflies and moths that we discovered using seavgrape as a primary or secondary source of food, shelter and nectar. What a beautiful community of butterflies!

Just wanted to tell you how great your channel is ,absolutely the best !! I just discovered it and now I watch it all the time. I`ve been collecting lepidoptera (both butterflies and moths) since 1990 and after a long hiatus have gotten back to my collection. Your channel has inspired to get back at it and begin sorting through my stock and prepare for relaxing specimens (I`m very excited). It`s too bad Bioquip closed it doors ,very sad indeed.
