Fun fact, fjord hawks are the tiny birds you see flying around you in the video, once tamed and mounted on your shoulder they can bring your items back to you after death once you respawn.
Oh dear gods of Ark.... that Unicorn just casually trotting by.... I was screaming at the screen for you to collect the prime from the alpha for the ptera. You can't search the alphas because their "loot" goes straight to your inventory if you have space/weight.
RIP RoboChop and Hotdog. But ChopityChops continues to be the champ for hard carrying your run against Rexes and Alpha Raptors alike. Looking forward to your next adventure!
12:25 when you turn back from the little beach in the cove, and you see that huge waterfall, I built on top of that. Big flat area, not too far from metal and crystal, and ideal for launching off with a maewing. Some dodgy spawns, but once you build far enough the rexes and alpha raptors go away. There's also a piranha free lake with pearls at the bottom, so most of your basic resources are readily to hand.
You don't want weight for them because they're not used for transporting a lot of items, they're just used as a means for transportation until you can get a better flyer, who can take a lot of weight. That's why he's pumping stamina and movement speed instead.
@@byeillcommentlater1627 a few points in weight isn't bad... my ptera would get maxed out on weight too fast so I always chuck in a few points (not many) to be sure I can at least not be encumbered if I happened to grab some wood and/or stone along the way... or carry taming gear to get a better flyer (possibly including structures or just materials, depending what their original weight capacity was) But that is me...
That area where you said you kind of wanted to build (right after you tamed Robochop) is right near where I have my base. It’s a great area. There’s loads of metal in the area and that giant rock on that tiny island in the water has oil rocks, two oil veins, and a bunch of metal on it, not to mention another oil vein on a rock in the little bay near the waterfall where you tamed robochops. There are also beaver dams close by and there is some crystal and obsidian nearby too. There is also a fjordhawk spawn and a desmodus cave right by there. And, snow owls and argies spawn at the top of the hill up from the waterfall. I love that area! Where you finally chose to build, you could build on pillars. That would level everything out. Finally, seeing someone use a moschops to its full potential makes me so happy. Too many people fail to see their value past their harvesting abilities! Love my mossies!
Iguanadons are the OP land mount, it hurt my soul when you walked passed one in the first episode. They have unlimited stamina while sprinting on all fours, and with pumped movement speed they can outrun most dinos on the map. They also can do some good damage and great carry weight.
Fun fact, shoulder carry critters only count like a quarter of the weight of carried items on you/mounts.... so if you threw some stuff into George's inventory...... check it out :) Also, thank you! Between this video and finding the structures plus mod (along with stacks for humans, dino tracker and some clothing mod) got my hubby back into ark again. We've got a killer base, handful of useful tamed to get resources. I'm gonna start breeding my boss killer tek rexes just as soon as I get a pair. -evil grin- fun times ahead!
I came to love robochop are little one. May he rest in peace my colorful friend. Ps having said that. I know you knew Thick44 and wanted to give you my condolences aswell. He was a trooper till the end. He wil not be forgotten.
I always enjoy how you edit your building montages without seeming choppy. Great stuff....plus you crack me up with your reactions to the situations. I'm interested to see how the base turns out on such a slope
when i played crafting skill was best used when you get a decent blue print or several, and lots of resources. you reset your stats, put all the points into crafting, then craft the items you want. it increases the chance to get a better item. it may take crafting more than one though so have lots of stuff for crafting. the blue prints with high stats and low material cost are the best blueprints. they do vary. be mindful of predators jumping off that cliff side to attack you. good vid
Crafting skill accounts for how fast you craft items, recipe effectiveness, and for blueprints. You need incredibly high crafting skill however for it to make a big difference on your blueprints so consider putting points elsewhere, and when it’s time to craft respec fully into crafting skill to maximize its effectiveness
I don't know whether you do your own editing or not, but either way, kudos! You know when to speed things up to keep it interesting, but without missing the thread of your narrative. So, well done!
Whenever you find an alpha, hit a rune stone before you fight it. Huge xp/level boost. You def want movement speed on everything. Get a bat. Start making blood bags. You’re not far from the green crystal trench(looks like a wyvern trench). Cave at the end with bats.
You have been super lucky with those rex and alphas. Try making a spyglass and the hawks in refrigerator door are special - tamed ones can retrieve your dropped loot after dying and bring it to you. Really enjoying you giving this a go again.
Great video Glock, hope you enjoy the game & don't have it Ruined.. wait.. Runed.. by the comments telling you how to play. The casual Unicorn at 36:40 lol The Runes Glock, The Runes!🤣
To get down from high places quickly - jump off the cliff while on your mount, then dismount right before you hit the ground. Tames that aren't ridden don't take any fall damage and neither will you if your close enough to the ground (and if you do, it shouldn't be much).
You cannot re-use bolas unless you use mods. Attack corpse-locked alphas from behind so you don't harvest the corpse. (Alphas cannot harvest a corpse, so they get locked in the animation.) This adds time for you to attack while they turn. It also avoids you becoming encumbered mid-battle by accident. They will likely turn around to attack you when you get close enough/hit it, but they have a chance to get re-distracted by the corpse if you back away quickly, and get locked again, allowing you to get some extra hits in.
Hay g9 just a few big of advice for Fjord 1 the Andrewsarcus is an amazing take for this map and they are decently strong plus no saddle needed 2 over prep for everything no matter what 3 a raft is you beat friend 4 last but not least and you can teleport if you hold R
The moschops is an Omnivore, look it up in the wiki. They eat both meat and berries, its also why the other one you wanted to tame in the 1st episode wanted cooked prime meat as a treat to tame it. Its the perfect early tame!
Bro, btw true legend, would super love to see you play official for a mini season. 2-3 episodes. Regardless thx for being a champ and I hope your new home is treating you grand. Thanks for being here for us.
You should tame a Stego, preferably a high level, the one fighting that alpha raptor was only level 30 but lasted quite a while, the reason is because they have different modes they can cycle through, (Press C While Riding) and wild stegos always use "hardened plates" which reduces all incoming damage by 50% making them very good for tanking, and they have pretty good damage, while also protecting the rider from being dismounted. (do note that the primary attack seems to have some form of charge up time, wait until the tail is fully back to deal full damage) Main downside is that they are slow, but as a base defence or if you have the patience, it could be very useful, but I think their main bonus, is that their 3 different modes give different harvesting bonuses, Hardened for Wood, Heavy for Thatch, and Sharpened for Berries (which they reduce the weight of by 75%)
The crafting skill only works on blue prints, not the stuff you unlock. Example, finding a raptor saddle blue print that has 100 defence, a higher crafting skill might give you more than 100. Not worth the points early game.
Last time you played this I bought Ark. Played it for a long time but got bored with it after using some mods to make life easier (easier taming, etc...). Now watching you play it again I might need to start up again. So thank you for rekindling my interest.

WHAT!? Thanks for that tip I never knew that.
That wasn't very fun for me.
@@ssj2gohanal exactly , use a bred ovis with health pumped up super good. The higher the health stats of the ovis the better the tame !
8:33 “Life goes on but not for Hotdog.” That was perfect comedic timing. Chef’s kiss, sir.
ChopityChops is the real MVP so far.
Unicorn casually walking by, with the majestic waterfall backdrop, while taming the Pteranodon

beach bob mode.

How did you manage to just not see the Unicorn walk 2 feet in front of your face? (Stamina & weight is what I always pump for Pteranodons)
I said the exact same thing, Glock's luck in all games is so high. Three rexes and two alpha raptors on a chops????
You don't want weight for them because they're not used for transporting a lot of items, they're just used as a means for transportation until you can get a better flyer, who can take a lot of weight. That's why he's pumping stamina and movement speed instead.
