I really wish videos like this existed when I started researching this back in 2015. The way I did my covers on the cheap back then was:
    Behringer UMC 22 Interface (35€)
    Reaper DAW (free)
    Shotcut (free)
    Generic smartphone camera
This is the way I'm still doing my videos, except for the video editing software which I changed to DaVinci Resolve as well.
Absolutely great video and straight to the point. If I was just now starting, your video would save me from months of research and headaches due to random problems.
    Thank you!

Thanks for this video brother!! Just got a Focusrite for my birthday, so now I can make non-sucky bass sound for videos! This helped me tremendously! Especially the Handbrake program (was getting very annoyed with video not syncing up near the end of the track).

Great video! I personally use the DI from my amplifier (rumble 40) into my interface via XLR. Therefore, I have EQ settings on my amp where I usually boost my mids so it can cut through the mix more. I use Audacity as a daw, which isn't the best but it's what I'm most familiar with and it has what I need. Here I'll put the song on one track and record onto the other. I'll also eq a bit more and apply a compressor to even out the volume. Also, an important aspect as you stated, I bring the audio of the track down quite a bit (like -6db at the peak) so my bass is audible on crappy speakers but not too overpowering on headphones (I'm still working this out). Lots of times reducing the volume of the track will do much more than increasing the volume of the bass track. I record video with my phone and then I sync up the video and audio in Shotcut. Export and then upload to youtube. Not the most elegant setup but it works for me.

What type of cord do you use to connect the amp to the interface? I'm thinking about doing this setup with my Rumble.

I just bought a Scarlet 2i2 with the intent to make some bass vids. I've had DaVinci for years, but I'm lost on recording audio. Are you using a free version of Amplitube, or bought one? I didn't see an Amplitube 4 at their site, but I really liked your tone in the American Dookie video ha ha. I'm having serious thoughts about a purchase from them, and have been using an SVT 4 Pro for most of my live gigs. Amplitube is your audio recording software, correct? I have Ableton Live 11 Lite that came with the scarlett, not happy with it. Thanks for this video, it is a great one for newbies.

    • @ampthebassplayer

I’m using the free version of Amplitube 4. I tried 5 and I found that I just preferred the interface of the old one, but the sounds should be the same.

    • @ampthebassplayer
      @ampthebassplayer  Рік тому

Should be able to! The only program that’s very resource intensive is DaVinci and if you have performance issues, there are ways to mitigate that. I’m not an expert on that part, but Casey Faris here on UA-cam should have what you’ll want.

@@ampthebassplayer besides, can you tell me if this is possible? About recording :
I don't like wearing headphones so
      1) i connect my bass to scarlett device , to the laptop
      2) i play the mp3 songs on my Bluetooth speaker
      3) i play the bass on my amp, sound goes outside of my amp
      4) the sound will be recorded to my laptop

@@stevewindsenergy So Davinci Resolve is free, and it's a fantastic program. There are several other free video editors, but I don't really have much experience with them. And yes, the steps you've lined out should work just fine. In fact, having the audio outside of your headphones will make it easier to line up your recorded track with what the camera picks up.
