Imagine! Being on one of those timber sailing ships. Horrifying! This song evokes the feelings of the horror and gives today those unfortunates a voice !!
Nocturnal Me - woeful, Ian needs to pick a tune Ocean Rain - majestic, my favorite version of the song Thorn of Crowns - nutso, wish we had seen the end of it (Ian's social commentary apparently was in reaction to having his house being robbed for the 3rd time that year)
sadly i was too "baby" for this,5 years old but i wish to going back in time to see this exhibition, maybe one of the best ever from my BUNNYBAND and i wish i can meet Pete...the best rumbling drummer ever!!!
Remember seeing this at the time, the c c c cucumber of Thorn of Crowns suddenly made me buy their back catalogue...loved ever since, first four albums the best by far though...
Too busy listening to REO Speedwagon and similar Arena Rock guff, basically, had to be dragged out of the 70s and denim flares. Nowadays everybody dresses American, Baseball caps etc,

they were big in Los Angeles because we had KROQ. a great radio station that played new wave and punk music. there was Rodney Bingenheimer, a weekend late nite DJ who introduced us to so many amazing English, European and other alternative bands. i hated mainstream music. we were lucky to have all that great music in the 1980s.
'All at sea again... ' - and that's just the vocal pitch and guitar tuning! ...Mac was still finding his live voice for these songs at this time. When he did they blew me away.
Still finding his live voice??? Clearly you haven't heard "Shine so hard" the live album they made long before this performance. British TV is very dodgy to get good sound in. Thats all
I disagree with the comment about Mac finding his voice or him being nervous as an excuse for his pitch change on Nocturnal Me. I think it was an intentional choice. That's just my take on it. I could be mistaken, but all of his other vocals were right on.
Why in the world would the camera man leave Ian's face during the "FROM BENEATH THAAAA WAAAAAAAA AAA AA VES" part?! Has been plaguing me for years. Tragic.
Watched this live, Friday tea time, pure bliss, if I remember right, they actually played/recorded another tune after show finished that I did hear-see at a later date.Anybody remember/know???
The audience were witnessing pure young genious's in their prime. There is no other band in the World like the Bunnymen!
And no other song like Thorn of Crowns!
genious's - lol
I love this band , they are so unique, no one comes close to their beautiful sound - But "genius"? noooo- no. Thats an over-used word
Was

Incredible. I'm pretty blown away..
Crown of Thorns = best performance ever. Pete and Will are 🔥🔥🔥Les amazing as always. And Ian is in top form. Wish I could’ve seen this performed live.
Just fucking awesome.
Best band on the planet .. I loved being the only kid who had heard of them, this album changed all that though.
Crown of Thorns, unbelievable
Magic band
I remember seeing this on the television all those years ago

Really wishing they hadn’t cut off Thorn of Crowns. They were really tapping into something there
I must have been out the night this was on.
Such an intense band!
What a version. Superb.
Saw them twice on the Ocean Rain Tour then twice again on the Songs To Learn and Sing. They were far far better than the TV appearances.
you are so lucky to have seen them live back then!
6:23 imagine being on the receiving end of that gorgeous gaze. Sigh.

effortless magic...why can't it be like this no more, Ian?
Remember seeing this at the time, the c c c cucumber of Thorn of Crowns suddenly made me buy their back catalogue...loved ever since, first four albums the best by far though...

Superb!

For me the best!.
Muito boa essa música! !
I will never understand how these guys didn't become number one in the U.S.A.? I guess Americans lack in musical taste.

They did with lips like sugar & people are strange in 1988 but it was already too late.

12:07 bro's bursting 💀💀
Great footage of Pete.

Mat Mclean, I loved his vibrato in Nocturnal me.
@@matmc71 i've heard his mother were watching, and he got so nervous because of it that was hard to sing. So cute!

Pete.......... That drumming on "nocturnal me" rings the first sounds of "dubstep".
Major respect for playing live. Peerless vocals from Ian, before Pete lost the plot.
Why in the world would the camera man leave Ian's face during the "FROM BENEATH THAAAA WAAAAAAAA AAA AA VES" part?! Has been plaguing me for years. Tragic.
Me too. Aaaaaaagh
🖤
My favorite version of Ocean Rain and Thorn of Crowns, but Nocturnal Me was a big mess xD
Pete.....................
What a drummer he was. So unique, even his own wreck was possessed.

muito bom....msm
Another KILLER transfer, "Travis". :)
you can still see the killing joke banners set up LOL
I think I can hear a future Radiohead amongst this gold
Julian Cope on first meeting Mac thought his name was Duke McCool!!!
As heavy as it gets.
Ghost made the best cover.
M
no cooler band
Why did ppl clap after Nocturn ? It was clearly AWFUL !
