I think if Mastercard hadn't rushed them and let them develop the car for 1998 it would have been a different story. They wouldn't have been near the front more competing with Arrows and Prost but they would have at least been racing

MasterCard are a big cause of this
It always makes me sad. Lola are SO famous, the T70 one of the most beautiful cars ever, and Mastercard totally effed them, which caused the whole company to collapse. A1GP was never going to be a thing (see also Masters F1, which might make a good video if you're stuck for content one day) but they were desperate. What could have been.
that same year Lola build a terrible chasis for Cart, by 1998 4 of the 5 team using that chasis switch to other brands
In the early 2000s they bought Aylings, a rowing shell (boat) manufacturer and tried to diversify their offering. Great video!
Speaking of the Tosser - he was the reason why Ken Tyrrell left the team bearing his name. He wanted Jos Verstappen to partner Toranasuke "Tora" Takagi, but the new ownership group, led by Craig Pollock gave the seat to Rosset instead. And Tyrrell was perhaps vindicated as Takagi outqualified and outraced Rosset (who had prior F1 experience no less and was 1995 International F3000 runner-up) most of the time and Rosset had failed to pass the 107% rule 5 times.
fact error. Mastercard did not withdraw their sponsorship. Lola pulled out themselves because the sponsorship money was trickling in from Mastercard and was based on the 'club' income mostly. Mastercard guests were left stranded in Brazil when the team packed up. Would Mastercard have done that if they pulled out? They would not back out because of one race.
I remember seeing MasterCard Lola Ford F1 on YT and the Dog Eat Dog by ACDC played on background, but it was deleted.

I don't think that Lola should be blamed for most of what happened and why the team failed. Mastercard were the ones who pushed them to enter F1 before they were ready.
Mastercard totally cost Lola everything. All because they said, be on the grid for 1997, or eles we won’t pay you anything! What kind of a stupid sponser would do that? Only Mastercard. More like StupidCard.
