The kindest thing we can do for our beloved dogs is to gently let them go when we see them suffering. You will hurt deeply but you’ll always carry the love of a black & tan dog that tried to be as human as you wanted her to be.

As a home care nurse one of the best things I can say to you all is “Ralph make friends with a comfortable pillow to hug when you cough. The pillow hugging will make coughing less painful. @leecarlson9713 it sure does. I got into a coughing fit the day after my triple bypass...my pillow had fallen on the floor and I couldn't get it of course. I dearly paid for that.
Yes the pillow is your friend right now for when you cough. I had one with me the first 2 weeks after my surgery.
Nala knows you love her and she was your first baby. I know how hard this is on you. I have had many dogs now through my 75 yrs and it does not get any easier. I have a 12 yr old Malshi named Abby who is my baby right now and she is showing aging with problems with her eyes. All we can do is give them all our love and attention and be thankful that they were in our lives for their love and our love to them.
Prayers to your dad and mom and yes mom’s are the strong ones in the family unit. Sometimes mom’s do not realize it until crisis happens, but we are. Your mom is a very strong person and so is your dad and thankfully they have each other and their great sons and their families to be there for them.
Yes,i agree......I fell because of my muscular dystrophy and hit and bruised my sternum and ribs. Painful to breathe,never mind move. I have a cooling body pillow that was my best friend for a few weeks.Not only for coughing but to hug whenever I turned over or stood up..For some reason hugging a pillow helps.
@@user-pd3td2lv3l Yes, yes, yes! The hospital gave me a fairly firm heart shaped pillow to hug when I coughed, and they wanted me to cough to help keep my lungs clear.
We had a Great Dane that got hip dysplasia. A vet told my parents, "Let her die with dignity." You don't want to see her suffer.

I lost my fur baby a month ago. She was 20 years old and traveled to the rainbow bridge in her sleep. Hugs and prayers for you and your family.
That really was a blessing. We went through terrible suffering and heartbreak with our baby that we should have had put to sleep, but my husband couldn't and wouldn't do it. He did this last one though...she had had her share of suffering for us already though we knew she didn't want to leave.

It is such a hard thing to do, but think about Nala's discomfort and worry as she doesn't like not being able to get outside when she needs to!! Take her to the Vet and help her go to sleep!
I just read about a NDE (near death experience) and it was so great. This lady died and went to heaven and the first thing she saw there were all the animals she had ever had running up to greet her! Then she came back to life and was so happy with the things she rememered in her NDE. Anyway, it sure made me feel good, so I thought I would tell y'all about it.
What a wonderful God we have! I don't think I'd want to come back if I ever got to go Home to Heaven. I hope the first loved ones I see are Jesus with all of my beloved pets with him. Then all the loved ones I miss so much. Ancestors I never got to meet even. Just hope in Heaven there are trees and cool springs and rivers to sit by with my babies and just soak it all in. And maybe if I'm blessed get to talk to Jesus and others from biblical times.
They truly wait for us when its our time to cross. Animals always pick their furry friends up too ❤ Our essence and spirit is created by God, we are all one and full of Gods love which never dies. Our spirits live on forever in divine source ❤❤❤

I had to let my precious SChunkZ cross the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago. I took him to my Vet’s house and he gave him a shot to put him to sleep like he would if he was going to operate on him. After he went to sleep while we were looking into each other’s eyes and I told him how much I loved him and would miss him, he slowly closed his eyes and went to sleep. My wonderful vet slowly gave him a shot to stop his heart so he never had a second of pain. I held him in my arms and told him we would be together again one day. I still cry once in awhile because he was my protector and my best friend. I cry every time I think of him. Love you both and hugs every day to get you thru this time of worry about Nala and Grand ma and Grandpa Doss as they get thru the healing process of the surgery ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
I have lost several dogs over the years and it’s always hard. They are family members.
Today we had to say goodbye to our Blue. Don"t let her lose to much weight. We had our girl from April 2011 to August 2nd 2024. Our 13 year old puppy, gained her winds today. Our girl had cancer and tumors. We spent yesterday and made a casket.Take a deep breath and remember the good times.
Nala is FAMILY. MY 15 year old pup just passed 7/5/24. It's still very raw for me. God will help her and guide her. Hold her tight when you can. She will ALWAYS love you both. Prayers for you all.

I was just told by little 12 yr dog is in congestive heart failure. He stared two heart pills and a liquid on Tuesday after all the blood work. I’ve cried several days but I keep snapping pictures of him. Courage and strength for you two.

That's so sad 😢 I've been through it myself with one of my dogs. She had a good quality and lots of months on the right medication. I always had cortison tablets at home for her incase of an emergency. What also helped was a coolmat for her to lay on when the temperature is high. Prayers sent to you ❤🙏

I had to put my 11year old cat down due to her biting me and she was afraid of her food, water, and me. Vet said she had a brain tumor. This has been 2 months ago and I still miss her.

I lost my dog who was a German Shepard mix the same way you lost your beloved dog. It hurt to see him walk up to me one night when he could not get comfortable when he would lay down. The look he had in his eyes, he was begging for help. I cried for Years after his loss. Seeing them take the walk to the Rainbow Bridge is the most humane thing we can do when we know our beloved pets are in decline.

The one commodity I can offer in an unlimited way is prayer. I lost my service dog a while back, I had him for 16 years. He was experiencing the same issues you describe. Giving them all the love and attention you can, it will give you peace in the future.
I know what you are going through. Over my 73 years, I have been through it. The last dog we had was getting older, and the Grandkids loved to play with his and on. I noticed one day he acted like something one of them done was hurting him. I prayed that if something was going to happen, that would make him hurt one of the kids just take on before it happens. One day we was outside putting up a little pool for the kids to play in and he was watching us out my daughters window. She was doing something in the house she come outside ask were Stormy was I said he was right there looking out your window just a few minutes ago. She said I have looked all through the house and he is not in there. I when in and checked the house and he wasn't in there. I told them what I had prayed. I guess the God answered my prayer and take him. He would never leave our yard with out one of us if he had got out of the house.

We took our dog to the vet when he had the same issue. He gently put him to sleep while we held and loved on him. I think easier than finding him gone.❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm so sorry about Nala. Hopefully she will pick her own time, but if you need to make the decision for her, try to find a vet who will come to your home so she can pass with you by her side in her safe place.

@@kroberts98331 I strongly agree. I could not stand the idea of my dog's last minutes on earth being terrified of the car ride and then her smelling and hearing the sounds of the vet's office. Our vet came to our home where we could hold our dog peacefully in our arms as she passed to the Rainbow Bridge. More and more Vets seem to offer this kind and loving assistance at Nala's time of need, especially if your animals are their patients. Please look into it. It will help you in your grieving as well.
It's never just an animal and never easy when your beloved pet is ready to cross the rainbow bridge! The best thing is to do the best for her and don't let her feel extended pain for too long. Your young boy will fill that void very quickly and all the wonderful memories of her will give you comfort in the future. All the best to you both and to the whole Doss family!
Your parents did the best with 2 dogs. They have each other. The Doss family is very blessed to have each other.

I hear you on the limbo state. just 3 yrs ago, my sweet Buddy, 6.5yr old golden doodle started getting those neurological symptoms. He declined over 2.5 weeks. I prayed for wisdom to not let him suffer needlessly. 2 vets....no answers. then he stopped breathing. My neighbors were so helpful. I was grateful to not have to make the decision to put him to sleep. The beautiful thing a couple months before that, a friend took some pictures and surprised me with a pencil portrait that captured him perfectly! She is really good at it! I love having the portrait still! Hearts and Hugs in the Forever Family of God!

It's going to be so hard for you but with god's help you can get through this. You will know when you feel what the kindest thing is going to be for her. It's the hardest thing we ever do is to let our pets go. I have had to have one of my dogs put to sleep and it was painful. My girl was 15 and a half years old. She was a black Labrador and I loved her immensely. Praying 🙏 for you both and Nala!

We lost our Boxer last week and she was basically like Nala. Kyle brought her home from the vet, he walked in the house and she dropped dead. It has been really hard with my terminal illnesses. I hope that Nala goes like Shatz.......no pain, seizures. Blessings to all of you.

Losing a beloved pet is almost as hard as losing any other family member. We had to have our 16 year old Bichon/Maltese put to sleep last year. She too was fading away, not eating, lost weight (down to 3 pounds from her normal 8), couldn’t walk. She was born in our bedroom, so we saw her every day for all those years. We had raised her grandmother and both parents. She was the last of a 30 year relationship with her entire family. My husband and and didn’t want her to suffer anymore than she had, so decided to take her to the vet and send her over the rainbow bridge. Her ashes are in a box on the end table. When we die, our kids have instructions to scatter our ashes and the ashes of about 8 other pets over the fields so we can all be together again. It’s hard, but don’t let her suffer.
I identified with every word you said! We lost our sweet Rottweiler, Briley, to cancer that invaded her body within a matter of weeks. She had been my husband and my first baby together and she brought so much joy and love! We know she is waiting for us to join her in the glorious land above and we will play together forever! Prayers for strength and peace in this difficult time!

We had to give our 14 year old "best dog ever, Blue" the last act of kindness at the vets when his hip dysplasia would not let him go up & down our RV steps. It was painless for him, he just went to sleep cradled by us. The vet said we caught it at the right time. I was told by a friend, don't wait too long, like they did. You don't want her to be in a lot of pain. We had Blue cremated and spread his ashes in his favorite place.
So sorry for the news about Nala. It's hard to say goodbye to our fur baby. They are apart of our life. May God give you the answer but I believe you already know. I had to do this for my babies and it was hard. God Bless you Kyle and Shannon. Prayers for you and your family. ❤❤
We had to do my granddaughter’s 13 year old morkie because of age related issues. We had him cremated but have an urn with his ashes in. It has paws on it . Have a memorial frame with hie dog tags and a sweater of his and his pictures. It’s all on a table in the living room

You know what you have to do for Nala. Letting a dog suffer is never a good thing. In one year I said good bye to my 18 year old cat, 17 yo German Pinscher and 15 year old Sheltie. It was not by choice and it would have been selfish of me to let them linger just because I wanted them to have a natural death when they were ready to go and were in pain. My vet was there for me and I held each one as they peacefully left this earth. 3 years later my 15 year old Standard Poodle joined them. All very much loved and never forgotten.
We as humans have the gift from God to let our beloved pets go with grace. This is our biggest gift of true love❤❤

I still cry for my Kitty dog after nearly 20 years. I don't think I mourned as much for any human as I have for my 2 beloved dogs. They are a part of us more close than anyone.

So sorry for princess. I had the same issues with my Freckles. He was sixteen years old. They told me he had developed neuropathy in his back legs and he couldn’t feel anything from tail to toes. He started dragging his legs and started getting open wounds on his hocks and I couldn’t watch him suffer like that. I went to the vet and they put him to sleep and I have his ashes forever.

So sorry that Nala is getting ready to cross the bridge. I've had to make a decision for three of my chickens last year that were gravely ill. So I know the heartache and how difficult it is to know the right thing to do. I think stopping the pain and suffering is a kind thing to do but you have to do what your hearts tell you. The third and fourth day post operative is the worst days. Emotionally after surgery, the anesthesia is still in your body for 1-2 months. Grandpa Doss has probably learned, and now excepted, that he has to depend on others, and that has confused him. If “Cardiac Rehab” is offered, encourage him to go for it. The questions and fears he has, and doesn’t know that is normal to have, he will have someone to ask, and they will let him know it is normal. Being a cardiac RN, after my husbands cardiac surgery, he very much felt it was good for him. They work with their physical and emotional rehabilitation. It was a very positive effect. I know you will keep giving them our love, and continuing love and prayers. Love to all.
Oh Kyle and Shannon I am so sorry about Nala. I definitely know how you are feeling. We had to put our sweet Molly down on July 4th. It was so hard and I am not over it yet. Praying for you all! She is your baby!

Guys, im so sorry you have to go through this with Nala. She not just a dog, she your girl. Yes you will go through it many times, and its never easy, just different. Take care. I hear you losing a pet part of the family is the hardest. I am dealing with a lost of my parakeet and now dealing with my last one to coop with the lost. Trying hard to be there for the last one by talking to her more then ever. Good to hear your dad pulled out of the surgery stronger now.

you will never forget how much fun you gave her how much fun she had with you two. my dog laid down one night and I also went to sleep with him. and he passed that night. yes I was super sad. he came to me in a dream which was super great. I will never forget my dog God bless
Dr. Pol as always says it’s quality of life not quantity. She has given you allot of love, and she should be able to go peacefully. Love you both. I went through this was my Mastiff, and took him to our vet ,and let him go in peace.
Kyle and Shannon, so sorry about Nala…….you have given her an awesome life. We just had to have our 8 year old rescue pup put down a few months ago, it was the hardest thing to do but we were able to put an end to her suffering, the vet was so, so kind - we held her, stroked her and talked to her as she just painlessly went to sleep. We miss her terribly, but know she is in a much better place now, pain free and care free. You are both in my thoughts and prayers, take good care, Kathy
My heart goes out to you. I had to put my Chihuahua of 15 yrs down last year. I had her from 5 months old. She was my baby. ❤🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼 I had her cremated and she has a wonderful carved box.

We just lost our buddy a few months ago. Black lab. 14 years old. Lost his back legs and his ability to hold anything. PASSED AWAY PEASFULLY In his sleep.Snacks and Lovins'!Prayers!!

Don't wait too long. We had an aging dog who lost control of her bladder while sleeping. When she'd wake up wet she was so embarrassed even when we'd love on her & tell her it was ok. Love to all of you. I understand. 💞
