    Does the T510 support 16gb ram ..?

    I’m going to do both. I’m retired, sitting at home in the middle of a pandemic in Alabama. I need some excitement, stimulation and brain buzz. I can afford this…😏 Thankx for helping me…this better work…🤨

      The spec sheet will say 8GB, but perhaps it is possible to install 16GB. I am not sure at the moment, but if you find out, let me know.

    What is the max ram the t-510 system can recognize?

      Product specifications will list either 4GB or 8GB. I have personally only done 8GB, so I can't verify that 16GB would work fine. I imagine it would, but I would research this. Let me know what you find.

    I’m attempting this upgrade but when I opened the back, there was no ddr in that slot. I went on and bought the 16 gb but when I tried to install it, the little arms would not raise and I did not want to force it.

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  3 роки тому

      You don't have to raise the arms up, you tilt the RAM stick (DDR3 16GB is what you have?) so that it fits properly in the "DIMM" slot and then gently press down so that the little arms hold the stick in place. You only really move the arms to release the stick, in which case you just gently push them from either side.

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  3 роки тому

      Also, I don't believe a 16GB DDR3 RAM stick is specified to work. Manuals state that max RAM is 8GB (2 x 4GB). Let me know if it does work, or, make sure you have the receipt to return the stick.

      @@andilaw2002 I think what you have is DDR4 RAM, which will not work in this laptop. You have to purchase DDR3 RAM. Look for 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600MHz or 1333MHz RAM Sticks instead. Local computer shops, eBay, etc. I'll even ship you two sticks.

    I would certainly like to do this with the Lenovo ThinkPad T510 I'm typing on now. I have zip experience with such on my own...😬

      It's pretty easy to swap out the 2.5" drives from a Hard Drive to a Solid State Drive. RAM is easy to swap out as well, that's just plug and play. What kind of storage capacity are you looking for? I can always recommend a drive. It may just give your T510 a new life.

      @@andilaw2002 Are you running Windows 10? With the laptop running in Windows, hit CTRL+Shift+Esc on the keyboard to open Task Manager. Hold down each key as you go. Navigate to the "Performance" tab and look up "Memory" for RAM, and Disk 0 or 1 for your HDD/SSD information. You will also see CPU and possibly your integrated GPU information. Get back to me with what you see and we can go from there.

    hey man, I have a T510 as well and been thinking of upgrading from HDD to SSD but the problem for me is, i dont know if a 512GB or 1TB SSD will work on my laptop. cuz i saw most of people on youtube only use 128 or 256GB SSD. if possible, gimme a reply at the earliest. @HaisteComputerRepair

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  Рік тому

      You will be totally fine, go for it. Many people install 128GB or 256GB because it's a budget option. I would sell a refurbished laptop with a 256GB SSD and the customer can have the option to upgrade from there.

      @@HaisteComputerRepair thanks for the reply man. Appreciate it.
      But I ran into another problem, I opened my laptop to clean it and apply new thermal paste cuz it was over heating, so after I did all that I turned it on and I heard a small poppin sound from the inside and it showed fan error
      At first I thought, I didn't connect the fan to the motherboard so I checked it again to make sure but it was connected but it still didn't fix it.
      Do you know how do I fix this without replacing the motherboard. Thanks.

      @@HaisteComputerRepair it shows fan error when I boot it. But if I press ESC multiple times, it will go and I can access my laptop but it'll turn off after some time. I think it's because of overheating cuz the fan isn't working
