I have a 2001 VW passat. This sensor is attached to the power steering cooling pipe in front of the radiator. My OBD2 says its faulty .WHAT DOES IT DO?
@@Kwensee I read it goes to the instrument cluster. The fix will be easier if you can get the car's wiring diagram. I have the same problem, fixing it when I have time in the coming days.
Is this sensor for the AC or is it for the engine or both? My AC shows ambient temp that seems to be OK but when I check for errors via the OBD2 port I get the message that no outside temp is available. My problem is that the AC/Climatronic sometimes blows hot air and sometime seems to work OK. The climatronic behaves strange. Can it be this sensor that is broken? I have a VW Passat 2003, with a 1.8T engine.
this sensor shows the outside temperature. but the car also uses it to trigger other components such as a cooling liquid fan. but if it shows correctly how you wrote / right on the display-cluster / there is no problem in it
+Josiah Frederick There used to measure temperature resistance means that when the resistance of the examples that show 8k -16. gave an original new temperature sensor?
Heated wing mirrors use it as well and ac won't turn on if external temperature is to low ( also the temperature climate control setting will not be accurate) was looking for where this thing was as mine is reporting 30-40c when it's like 10-20c ( I'm actually thinking it's not faulty because when the vehicle is called it appears to be reporting the correct temperature it's once the engine is warmed up so I'm thinking it may have just fell off and touching something that's warm)
@@leexgx you are correct. If the outside temperature is 90F (HOT) and the sensor reads 60F A/C will not turn on for me. Sometimes there is no reading at all shows only dashes... AC doesn't operate then either.
@@pokhaandrew my sense wire and sensor was rapped around the radiator pipe (last owner had a number of bumps in it, so someone who removed the bumper did not reattach the sensor to where it should be)

Thanks so much for the video, you’re a life savor!!!

The failure of this sensor could also lead to the car not starting something in the morning when it is very cold?
Plays no role. Car can start in -degrees
I buy a sensor from topran but it doesn't work. Which brand you used in the video?
sensor complain, and try another brand
hi there, i put in a new one and the car now says -45. did i do something wrong. this worries me

Ambient air temperature sensor circuit for an 09 Volkswagen EOS
in the golf mk4 where i could find this sensor? thanks for the video, i will wait for your answer!
same
multumesc mult !!!!!!
This sensor is just for temperature from board desplay ? or have many functions ?
depending on the sensor, the fan starts, for example
at golf 5 105 hp, BKC 2004 ?

I have the same probleme , I dont find the sensor
asa si ?? te uiti la el ? si ce-i faci, il sufli de praf ??
Hello
Can this sensor if not functional cause a car to overheat, and not trigger fan after engine off?
no. It's just an outside air temperature sensor. In worst cases, makes the AC - to stop if there is a -50°C read by the sensor
