    Here's the thing. CWebb didn't deny anything in that interview. He acknowledged making mistakes, he acknowledged making bad decisions, he acknowledged the hurt. His issue with Jalen was that he was dragging him through the media while he was still processing all of that hurt. That's not cool coming from one of your boys. I feel him on that.

    I love J Rose and C Webb. The truth is, Chris has been running from the truth since the timeout and Ed Martin incident. I understand his frustration with Jalen, but I don't think Jalen has ever thrown him under the bus to advance his career. On a few occasions I know Jalen was just being honest and to someone who wants to cover up, to someone who has been hiding, to someone who doesn't want to confront the past, the truth feels scary to them, the truth feels like the covers are being pulled off, the truth exposes them and the truth hurts. I think that's what we have here. One person who has been hiding, running away from the past and another person who has nothing to hid and who is free to speak truth. Chris was devastated by the "timeout", he never talked about it afterwards, he never confronted it and he never overcame it. Chris immediately left school for the NBA and tried to push that out of his mind. Jalen on the other hand, stayed in school another year, confronted the timeout, was able to move past it and get over it. Also with the Ed Martin situation, Chris made him out to be a greedy, lying, scheming old man. He lied about Ed Martin and ran from that too. Jalen told the truth about Ed Martin and was disappointed Chris did not. So we see the pattern. Too much to air out on here, but you can get the gist.

      Soloson: I would say yes and no that Chris has ran from the truth about the timeout against UNC and the Martin incident.
      Regarding the time out, Webber has spoken about it since minutes after it happen in 1993. Everyone forgets, Webber was the media's main focus in the post game conference after the Championship game end. He could have ran and not go into the media room but he elected to do so.
      About 2-3 Years after that game, CBS featured the afternoon before the Kentucky vs Syracuse Finals in 1996, the best 4 Nat'l Championships games in the CBS era, to that point (1982 (UNC vs G-Town), 1983 (NC State vs Houston), 1985 (Nova vs G-Town), 1993 (UNC vs Michigan). When the UNC vs Michigan game was featured, CBS interviewed C Webb. He took full responsibility for the timeout and that he cost his team the chance of winning the Nat'l Title. Jalen, also spoke about the game, along with MOP Donald Williams, Eric Montross, Dean Smith and Steve Fisher.
      Webber has always taken full responsibility of what happen and never threw his teammates under the bus.
      In regards to the Ed Martin shit, from what I've heard, Ed was closed to the high school ballers at Southwestern, Jalen's school. From what I understand, Jalen is the one that introduce Webber to Martin.
      Mitch Albom, who wrote the Fab Five book in 1993/94, covered the team and Webber closely and he always said, he never saw the Webber family living in luxury. In that case with Martin, I always knew that it was not only C Webb but his father and aunt was involved with Martin, as he (Ed Martin) went to the same church as the Webber family.
      I can look at it that maybe C Webb was covering his ass, as well as his family ass too with their involvement. While Martin did help you, along the way, the old saying, "Blood is Thicker than Water."

      BDQ1975.....C Webb a good dude, like I said, love him. I'm not trying to disparage him. I'm just telling the truth from my prospective. It's one thing to discuss the timeout on TV, it's whole different thing to actually confront it and not allow it to dictate how you operate. From what I know as someone who is born and raised in Detroit, Chris hasn't given back to the city or even made his presence felt in the community. I understand U of M banned him, but Detroit didn't. J Rose on the other hand has maintained a strong presence in the community. We all know about Jalen Rose Leadership Academy. I can't tell you how important and great that is for the city.
      The Ed Martin situation. The bottom line is Chris lied on Ed to make himself look like a victim. I can understand not revealing all the facts, but how he made Ed Martin out to be a predator who took advantage of him wasn't cool. That whole situation cost Steve Fisher his job. Jalen believed at some point Chris should've come out in coach Fishers defense. Like I said bro, Chris has been hiding and running away from this since then.

    • @BDQ1975
      @BDQ1975 6 років тому +5

      Soloson: I know that Jalen has been a strong presence in the City of Detroit and all represent his community. I like both dude and wish they can resolve their issues like man, instead of talking shit about each other in the media.
      Regarding the Ed Martin situation, Chris lied about his involvement with him and that pissed off Jalen, who was the one that introduce the two of them, from what I heard. If anything, Chris needs to apologize to the Martin family cause he at the end , C Webb was trying to protect himself and his image.
      The situation with Steve Fisher, I'm not sure or remember if, at the time when the University of Michigan investigated the issue, Webber involvement was known. It was more about the current players that Fisher recruited in 1994 and 1995, Maurice Taylor, Robert Traylor and Louis Bullock, was found out to having ties with Martin. When it was learned that they were driving a vehicle in Martin's name, the off campus party that had prostitutes and drugs (weed) and the hotel was in his name (Martin) that was too close to the program and that was when Fisher was let go in 1997, several years before the FBI's involvement.
      That was part of the investigate when Mateen Cleaves was on his recruiting trip in 1996 when this all came to light.
      But to be honest, look back now at Coach Fisher, he wasn't all that great to be consider for the HOF now. Beside the team he inherited from Bill Freider in 1989, Glen Rice, Rumel Robinson, Terry Mills and Co, with the Fab 5, he did not do too much.
      1990, they got wiped out in the 2nd round by Bo Kimble and Loyola Marymount in the 2nd Round.
      Did not make the NCAA in 1991.
      After Webber, Rose and Howard left 1993/94, knock out in the 1st night against Western Kentucky in 1995,
      Maeco Bastian called a timeout, which he never had, and lost in their opening game in 1996
      NIT (Not In Tournament) Champions in 1997
      Coach Fisher badly underachieved with the teams he had from 1992 through 1997, when considering he had the top freshman classes in 1991 (Fab 5) 1994 (Fab 5 II) and 1995 (Traylor, Bullock and Albert White).
      Never once did he win the Big Ten title. Coach Fisher did some good things at SDSU but he was an underachiever at Michigan. Not HOF credentials IMO

    The one thing that I'm disappointed in with Jalen is when a few weeks ago, he broke down tape on the timeout. I think that's what Chris is really pissed about. HE keeps bringing that up. How are you trying to repair a friendship with Chris, then you go out and drag him ALL OVER AGAIN in the media when you KNOW how much that time in his life devastated him. THAT'S not what "brothers" do.

      cmpattersn1 I agree. I don't like when Jalen brings up that travel video when talking. I believe their beef is personal, but these guys are like brothers. Brothers don't do this type of stuff. I respect both guys ,and loved the fab 5 growing up. I really hope they can mend and reconcile . I think both of them are wrong for snipping at each other in the media. They need a one on one 5 or 10 minutes in a room together. No media no one else .Hatch this out like men. Move forward after that. All the good times they had shouldn't be spoiled by a small section of bad.

      Cause J Rose is trying to profit off that shit. He is using Chris Webber's story and downfall as a way to keep himself relevant. By staying relevant he is able to have something to contribute to Get Up. I really can't wait until the football season really gets started. Cause I am curious as to how this show going to stay consistent and entertaining. Basketball Season/Off Season Free Agency and the fab five story is the best thing going for Get Up.

      Agreed....If he felt some kinda way about it he could have spoken up a long time ago. When the JR Smith thing happened it was only right to ask Jalen about it because he lived thru a situation like that. Its not like Jalen took control of the show and said let me tell you how I felt when Chris did what he did. Chris Webber is in his feelings right now...Its gone be ok Chris...lol

    @JCooley251 6 років тому +326

    The fact that y'all are siding with C. Webb just cause he finally spoke a different narrative??... This not some drug case or street issue lmao... The whole world has seen the footage of C. Webb having a J.R. Smith moment... Then C. Webb goes on trial to throw his old coaching staff under the bus!! Man y'all better do some research!! At least Jalen has charities and mentoring programs.... That's how we need to define somebody's realness... Who gives back to their community?

    • @nguont
      @nguont 6 років тому +7

      H2muzicTV Altough I’m a fan of C.webb i agree, I think certain things that happened during those times stills haunts him I guess he just wanted erase everything and move on. But having said that I can see Webbs point of view also , maybe Jalen shouldn’t have said so much to the media about certain things. And This response wouldn’t help matters, should’ve just tried to reach out and “break bread” as Jalen says.

      @JCooley251 6 років тому +11

      Siah El the tone and language in your response shows that your mind is made up and that's cool, we're all entitled to an opinion... My opinion is that C. Webb was bitter about a mistake that he made several years ago... He's trying to blame Jalen for moving on and discussing his mistake smh... Like I said, Jalen didn't tell a secret or a lie, he talked about something the whole world had seen lmao... That's like J.R. Smith getting mad at a teammate for talking about his bonehead moment ten years from now...

    • @JCooley251
      @JCooley251 6 років тому +2

      nguont I agree I think C. Webb was still bitter about that one play... those type of mistakes live with players.... Like Lebron's 2011 meltdown vs. Dallas... Hell, Jalen is on the other side of Kobe's 81 pts lmao.. As a professional u gotta get over stuff!! What if holding that anger in was holding C. Webb back as a professional?

    • @JCooley251
      @JCooley251 6 років тому +6

      playaflyJOE27 Great point!! It's not even about taking sides to me, it's about C. Webb owning his mistake... C. Webb is a great commentator, but he talks about players making mistakes all the time, live on air!! He could've just said something simple like "me and Jalen haven't spoke yet but we will always have a brotherhood"... They had one of the dopest 30 for 30's I'm happy the rest of the team participated... Like they need C. Webb permission to talk about a play that everyone knows about and has seen...

  • @dezgarrett2790
    @dezgarrett2790 6 років тому +39

    Chris Webber had a chance to talk about this stuff since 1993, now he wants to come out and talk 25 years later?? Why?? Like Jalen said...to sell his book and whatever other ventures he has going on right now. When that 30 for 30 came out and they reached out to him to give his side, he had nothing to say. If you had a problem with the narrative, then you could have spoken up. Part of the reason why he didn't talk is because of the court cause and he didn't wanna say anything to ruin that. All he did was talk about a dead man that did all he could for him, and that's how he repaid him and his memory is to throw him under the bus to save his ass. I don't respect what Chris is doing right now.

    • @Controlled_kaos
      @Controlled_kaos 6 років тому +2

      Desmond Garrett Bill Simmons has confirmed that C Webb didn't want to be a part of the 30 for 30 and was ducking it for a while. They finally told him this is gonna happen with or without you we would rather it be with you....he agreed and then ghostly after. Why should he apologize for taking money from somebody when he was living broke when he and the Fab 5 made millions of dollars for U of M that they never saw? I love Jalen but I think he was wrong as a friend. He kept beating and beating a dead horse. Every opportunity he gets to talk about how C Webb sold Ed out and or talk about the time out he does that but he had a drunk driving situation and do you see Webber even mentioning it. I know it has nothing to do with basketball but what you don't expect is your brother to be the main one creating the gossip in the media about something painful.
    If Jalen can't see that I don't know what to think..... He says it's all about the coach, Jimmy, and the others. Well, let them publicly make their plea. I am tired of Jalen trolling Chris.

BTW, anyone who talks for a living on TV, is not real by definition. Jalen is great.Respect him. But they both have agendas. Both SHOULD look out for themselves, like everyone else. Most of the C Web criticism is based on the fact he chose to lie in a tough spot. He traveled. So what. It's sports. Web has paid a steep price for those mistakes, fine, but haters never forgive. All the Fab 5 were trying to talk to C Webb for years. All the Fab 5 were trying to get C Webb to be a part of the 30 for 30. All the Fab 5 were trying to get together when Michigan made the final 4 while Trey Burke was the star player. The common denominator was C Webb wanted no parts of it. Relationships can't be fixed when one person never makes an attempt to fix anything. I don't know how people want to judge Jalen's efforts over the years, but C Webb made no efforts.

      Exactly this! Chris Webber is only speaking from his perspective. IMHO neither one is right or wrong. They are handling like the way the believe is right. Chris Webber comes from the school of thought like a street cat. Stay loyal to your crew and give a middle finger to the establishment. Where as J Rose is playing the system to get ahead and also trying to influence the Fab Five to do the same.

    • @centinelyork
      @centinelyork 6 років тому +1

      I know Webb has to be more mature about this, but we took his silence to mean something else. How can Jalen get all tight now when he been making backhanded compliments about C-Webb for easily over 10 years. There is no way if we grew up together, that I am going to talk about a rough time that my boy went through, or keep mentioning something that will clearly put my boy in a bad light. Jalen been talking about the man crazy in a backhanded way at that like this is the best player on the team, then rips him analyzing a timeout? Then C-Webb answer a question by Dan Patrick saying how he felt about the documentary, he answers saying basically people are trying to monetize something he is the catalyst of. Then Jalen Rose goes and totally airs him out saying he traveled and then called timeout. Then talking about the man case at NCAA and how he perjured himself. Like did we need to know all the man business and transgressions Jalen? Especially to a childhood friend? Like this couldn't play out behind the scenes? Jalen is very responsible for that, and you can argue that the reason is that Jalen can't stop bringing it up. Gives truth to Webb saying giving the people what they want. Webb never got any position because he kept Fab-5 bigged up, and that would be easy. He will dominate the narrative, and he doesn't want to do that. Where as it seems Jalen feels the needs to always let us know.

    • @TheTruthiest
      @TheTruthiest 6 років тому +5

      Mercenary 1914 So Webber says he doesn't have a relationship with Rose, basically cut ties with everyone from the Fab Five, but then still expects them to be loyal to him and keep quiet about his duplicitous behavior? There is truth to what he said about Jalen using this to get ahead, but Jalen is entitled to do that after so many years of getting the cold shoulder from Webber.

    • @Mercenary-1914
      @Mercenary-1914 6 років тому +1

      TheTrutiest You only know from J Rose perspective. Remember Michigan abolished all their accomplishments and banned them. So from his point of view Michigan cut ties with the Fab Five. He did not cut ties with Fab Five.....he just didn't want to be part of all the stories, documentaries, and profit based organizations that was trying to profit off the story. Chris Webber is basically saying....if you didnt want to stick by us through this, than fuck it....I am not going to come back and contribute to helping others profit of me. The other dudes did what they did....but Chris webber has no issue with anyone else. Just J Rose cause he is using Chris Webber's story and the Fab Five story to maintain relevancy. Like I said in my first post....neither is right or wrong....if I was Chris Webber.....I can see myself being like him...especially since by nature I tend to be vindictive to people who do me wrong. I try not to be....but sometimes I am like fuck you......And I can see it from J Rose perspective....cause I know life is a game....making paper sometimes require playing the system and using all your tools to get ahead.

    Jalen shouldn't be telling Chris he owes the university an apology. The whole Ed Martin thing is a joke. Webber didn't need his money, he was about to become a multi millionaire. Ed Martin needed kids to launder his money he made from his gambling ring. Also, be careful in calling Martin a booster - as he had a relationship with these kids way before they ever stepped into Crisler. He didn't "steer" the Fab 5 to Michigan and he had influence over kids that went to several other schools. Webber has the right to be upset about how he was used, but it's time to heal now.
