This is the first truly high quality video on Meinl's channel. When you look back on the enormous amount of music and product videos they've released over last 9 years since this video came out it's pretty amazing what a catalog they've built, as well as an incredible roster of musicians and instruments. This entire cymbal set is still something I dream of owning someday
Hi Jacob, thanks for taking the time to watch our videos. Our artists have all put in so much heart and dedication to their craft, that the least we can do is provide one more platform to let the world see and hear their talents.
Demoing Hihats for jazz stuff looking for smooth darkness w definition too. Sand hats were at local store. When I played two bars with them on demo, I said I wanted them at any price before clerk told me they were on sale. My perfect Jazz hats!
Had exactly the same situation, I don't remember how I stumbled upon Benny's videos but damn, I instantly fell in love. It has been like 1 and half year now and damn I'm still in love. Benny is so good and musical drummer, and seems like so cool guy. And fyi, I used to be only a metal drummer, but Benny changed my whole point of view in drumming :)
Everything about these cymbals sound amazing! and the way benny greb describes them with such passion just makes them that much more appealing. I must say those hi hats stood out the most to me though.
Jesus man! What an inspiration! listen to the way he speaks of his musical communication mediums, a true and original musician indeed. Knows exactly what he wants to say on and off the kit.
Did anyone else scream the words "Holy Shit" when he bent that 22" Sand Crash Ride? Meinl I'm really impressed with this line up, well done on producing a fantastic cymbal range!
OMG! These cymbals are amazing! Meinls have been #1 to me for 4yrs now. I run the Byzance Brilliants, and Darks. This series pushes me over the edge. If I ever have the privilege of getting sponsored by a cymbal company, I pray to God it's Meinl. Don't know if I can play on anything else, even if it's free. They make my sound, as Mike Johnston, and Chris Coleman would put it.
About a month ago, I purchased the 20" Sand Ride, and I must say even though I'm a pretty versatile drummer (mostly metal), the Sand Ride is perfect for me and it's exactly what I've been looking for for years. Thanks Benny and Meinl! Next I'm going for those hats!
Ya I bought it (20" ride) last week for a killer deal of $250 and I would agree its amazing...the bell is crystal clear and the tone of the cymbal is perfect. Oh and it works well as a crash....I highly recommend it to everyone. The only problem i found is that now I want the 18" crash :)
Definitely intrested in purchasing that ride, I think it may be the one I've been looking for, has the sound I need and great texture of sound to the cymbal both body and bell give a great response :)
Hi Benny, I have the opportunity to try your set of cymbals : Hihat, Thin crash and ride... and I have to say : wow... because there is a real "wow" effect when I play them... Thanks for having made this wonderful kit... It is not impossible that I purchase the kit I'm trying... Cheers !!!
I have one of the 20" rides and i can assure you that it is perfect for everything!! I've found other drummers wanting it when they hear because of its sound, trust me, you can't go wrong with it :)
Although i'm not a fan of anything Meinl, i have to say that these cymbals suit his playing perfectly and sound great when he plays them..Just the sound he gets out of them is unreal, and beautiful.. His power when playing the drums is out of this world..
Benny Greb does. But honestly, listen to all the sounds and textures he gets out of them in this video, as well as the other recent videos where he uses them; they seem like they are about the most versatile cymbal line out there! Versatility was one of the biggest points Greb had in mind when he was helping design them.
good drummer .nice sound on those cymb....dond know anything about them.there are so many new ones on the market .i use zild for the last 40 years or so i must have over 40 of them . if you go to .you tube .fon morcus .i play a 1970 rogers drumset .with a premier snare .love the sound of that snare drum never did like the dinosonnic by rogers it allways hat that chook sound to it .see wath you think of the snare drum? thanks fon morcus.
This goes for only a little over a thousand dollars. Wish i could afford it. I am on a one at a time buying method when it comes to cymbals. I just bought a Meinl 18" Byzance Brilliant Medium Thin Crash. Cant wait for it to arrive. Menil Rocks!!!
why did i decided to watch this at 12am.. ... i feel like drumming now..
+jewsus say wallah (bbhead) you're not alone....
1am I feel you
A year later, and I feel exactly the same!
every night now-gotta stop.😆👍
Every single aspect of this video is 110% platinum. The commentary. The mixing. The cymbals. The drums. And the fucking PERFORMANCE.
love how passionate he is about drumming and music in general :)
Every time I hear Benny Greb speak I imagine him saying "Hello. My name is Benny Greb and I know more than you."
Cause he probably does
No cap

things i would give up to achieve Greb's limb independence:
coffee for life
my car
sense of sight
taco bell
my brother's firstborn child
Bryce Young probably is the price of a car 🤣
Your brothers?😂
Anything but slow and consistent practice haha
You’ll need the car to get to gigs!
Idk, sounds like a sad brother to me
I think Benny Greb has achieved more sounds with a drum kit than anyone else. his playing never ceases to amaze me
These cymbals sound amazing, Benny is a awesome drummer and his floor tom sounds like a cannon... Beautiful.
I was gonna start having a heart-attack when he bent that 22" like that...
KBno14 me too!!
ha!
his snare sound is literally PERFECT OMG
get his snare then dude. Its his sonor signature model dude.
I got this snare. And. I’ve never managed to tune it like that. Haha. Many I’m still learning to tune it.
@@mogglie a few months ago he published a very thorough and comprehensive tuning guide. You might want to check it out 😁
Benny sounds like Marshall describing the best burger in New York.
+kalj3 When he says "And as you can see it gets more beautiful with age" makes my heart melt a bit
Best comment! Made my day.. Lol!
These cymbals are simply amazing! Well done, Benny!
Probably my favourite cymbals set as of this moment. And his grooves... Man!
Those things sound incredible! I've never known another musician like Benny who plays with so much honesty.
I just buy my first Meinl Cymbal, a Bycanze Sand Ride 20”. I can tell you, its my favorite cymbal ever.
I remember the day when i had dreaming ab these cymbals...and now i have all these

2:56 nononono BENNY STAHP
one of the most musical drummers around, no one can touch this man's feel.
Top Meinl Class. Good drummer and good demo. I have a Byzance Extra Dry kit since 5 years and love it but now I want to get some of those vintage.
Had exactly the same situation, I don't remember how I stumbled upon Benny's videos but damn, I instantly fell in love. It has been like 1 and half year now and damn I'm still in love. The sound of the drums is so sick...especially the kick.
Drumming at its very very best !
Simply beautiful.
So much passion and groove. Hugely influential!
this is about the best recording of a drum kit i´ve heard so far...sounds fantastic...the bass sounds great too :-)
I really love the sound and feeling of a vintage kit!
I've seen this video at least 74 times
Me too!
Same
I really love this set-up. Every crash/ride is usable as crash and ride. so much diversity!!!!
Epic jam at the end. Love your drums and Your cymbals. Great sound.
4:01 Turns out he was talking about himself in that part.
Everything about these cymbals sound amazing! and the way benny greb describes them with such passion just makes them that much more appealing. I must say those hi hats stood out the most to me though.
His grooves are to die for!!
How can someone dislike this? :D
Great sound, great cymbals, great drumming :)
Benny stop calling cymbals buttery you're making me hungry
+James Geary Drumming descriptions are whacked. A cymbal is "dry" if it has "wash". These cymbals are "buttery". Yet heavier cymbals aren't "wet"...
Love the cymbals and the drumming is amazing .. as in truly amazing :)
Benny Greb is the Yoda of drums.
While I was watching, a drop of drool literally fell from my mouth on to my table. Not many things in this world can make a man willingly drool
This is the best description of drum equipment. So smart.
This guy has an angelic voice, he should act
that bassline tho
One could jam with him all day/night!
These are the best sounding cymbals in the world! I have them too and they are awesome!
If anybody is wondering.....
The Bassist's name is Frank Itt.
Germany's busiest bassist at the moment.
It's actually a 20" Sonor Designer kick drum. Sounds HUGE! Benny has some pics from in the studio on his facebook page.
Jesus man! What an inspiration! listen to the way he speaks of his musical communication mediums, a true and original musician indeed. Knows exactly what he wants to say on and off the kit.
my god they sound amazing
he sound's amazing
It's true, his playing is very finessed
Meinl is really killing it right now. Innovating way beyond other cymbal brands
Benny like always... groovy and jazzy !!!
The bass man is very great
AMAZING DRUMMER! JUST AMAZING!!!
He accent is really relaxing
His
Yea, but that pointy beard is off-putting.
right on
He is very well spoken. Doesn't sound like he's reading stuff that's been written for him. He's believable. Great sounding cymbals.
i just keep watching this and just love it. AMAZING
Love how this drum beat is so smooth and attacking at the same time!
Why do people dislike videos like this? My brain does not comprehend that. Benny you’re amazing.
Did anyone else scream the words "Holy Shit" when he bent that 22" Sand Crash Ride? Meinl I'm really impressed with this line up, well done on producing a fantastic cymbal range!
Oh, the toms are SQ2, the bass drum is a Designer Series (SQ2's predecessor) and the snare is his Signuture snare. Hope this helps!
Benny Greb has the greatest sounding set up of drums and cymbals to ever be put together
I have the 20 inch sand ride, and its the most amazing ride I've ever used. It goes amazingly with my 14 inch Istanbul Traditional Hi-Hats
This is the best drumming demonstration I have seen so far. These cymbals sound great and the dude is a bad mofo.
Interesting...and Benny is great to watch and listen to!
Definitely intrested in purchasing that ride, I think it may be the one I've been looking for, has the sound I need and great texture of sound to the cymbal both body and bell give a great response :)

This guy is just so inspiring. Makes me want to start eating drums and cymbals. Mmmmm, so buttery!
His kit always sounds ABSOLUTELY IMPECCABLE. Oh, and a totally insane player.
Lol.. This video is supposed to be about cymbals.. Yet most of us are enthralled by Benny's amazing skills.
this man has a sensational feel for drums and he is a genius of tone, even his voice has a nice tone to it lmao
The only drummer I've ever seen to mic the shell of his snare. Haha, Benny, I love you.
I really love and enjoy Benny's play
I have one of the 20" rides and i can assure you that it is perfect for everything!! I've found other drummers wanting it when they hear because of its sound, trust me, you can't go wrong with it :)
Although i'm not a fan of anything Meinl, i have to say that these cymbals suit his playing perfectly and sound great when he plays them..Just the sound he gets out of them is unreal, and beautiful.. His power when playing the drums is out of this world..
Am I the only one whose flipping out over this dudes fills. Benny's fills and phrasing are so ace!!1
Holy shit jsut found my new cymbal set!!!!
Awsome playing
Exactly what I did. I play jazz, have an electro jazz band and an electro pop band, and this cymbal just fits everything!
truly an awesome drummer
Brilliant sound, man! Absolutely clear recording sound, I'm gonna have to give that 20 inch ride a try!
Benny is the groove himself. He feels it so deep, that you just can't not to feel it too
This is why everyone needs to love Meinl and more importantly Benny.
They sound really nice! I love the sonors too...that floor tom sounds mean!!!
2:56 Dang, cymbal bent like it was rubber.
My god he really is such an utterly superb drummer.
I love how the one handed role sounds!
Wow - what a great sound. From EVERYTHING.
I crush on this man! just..the drumming
I ALWAYS love his grooves.
2:55 when he bent that cymbal my jaw hit the floor
who else thinks they should sample Benny Greb's kit for superior drummer?
Jack Croom ME!
I've lost track of how many times I've watched this
These are truly amazing!
Great ambassador for SONOR, love those cymbals :)
Dat drum+bass groove... So good, man...
this is the 1st time ive heard him and i was not expecting his voice to be that deep
you´re not alone - sick stuff, even for a guitarist
Benny Greb does.
But honestly, listen to all the sounds and textures he gets out of them in this video, as well as the other recent videos where he uses them; they seem like they are about the most versatile cymbal line out there! Versatility was one of the biggest points Greb had in mind when he was helping design them.
this sounds so good oh my god
got a set of benny greb signature sticks today, excited to use them
Has anyone noticed the mic pointed directly at the side of his snare drum? Camera shows it a few times, but most notably at 3:50.
good drummer .nice sound on those cymb....dond know anything about them.there are so many new ones on the market .i use zild for the last 40 years or so i must have over 40 of them . if you go to .you tube .fon morcus .i play a 1970 rogers drumset .with a premier snare .love the sound of that snare drum never did like the dinosonnic by rogers it allways hat that chook sound to it .see wath you think of the snare drum? thanks fon morcus.

This goes for only a little over a thousand dollars. Wish i could afford it. I am on a one at a time buying method when it comes to cymbals. I just bought a Meinl 18" Byzance Brilliant Medium Thin Crash. Cant wait for it to arrive. Menil Rocks!!!
