    Be Kind To The Fish...
    #Fishing #OBX #Puffer Fish
    Sand Fleas are what the doctor ordered right now. Get some and get your line wet. Recently, I caught Reds, Black Drum and Sheepshead on them so I'm a believer. This bait is very versatile.
    Here below are some tips for catching Sheepshead:
    I can say this if you don't get it on the first bump you will probably only get one other chance "if that." If they're in the area they bite really quick and you usually only get one shot at setting that hook per fiddler crab. You've got to get a feel for it. Sometimes I set it on the first feel I get from the fish. Other times if they are slow biting; I might set the hook the second time they bump. Which every way you choose to go, you need to set that hook like you mean it or else the hook won't go through.
    Fishing for sunfish is something I did a lot growing up. , I've never been ice Fishing nor Fly fishing but I am looking forward to getting some of those fish on my hooks.
    My channel will show you the how to, Today whether you're in Wilmington, North Carolina, Myrtle Beach, Oak Island, Wrightsville Beach, Kure Beach, Outter Banks. OBX.The techniques you see here will also work in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia.
    Jesus is Lord!!!

    I am an old once upon a time creek man. I used to dig clams, tong oysters, pull crab pots,etc... one tip I have seen for preserving bait is to boil water, add kosher salt, maybe a cup to a quart, let it cool ,then add another cup. If there are crystals in the pot, you are there. The water is totally saturated with salt. Pour this brine over your bait of choice and store in the freezer. It won't freeze and it won't spoil.

    • @jbm135
      @jbm135 3 місяці тому

      You can saturate your water with salt without boiling. The amount of salt that water will dissolve is based on the temperature of the water. So when the water cools the extra salt crystallizes back out of the water. Put a cup or more of pool salt per quart of water in a container with a lid. I shake it until no more salt dissolves then pour the water into your storage container. The water is saturated at room temperature. When you place it in the freezer some salt will crystallize on the bottom then you know it is saturated.

    Just a tip...It's always been my experience that in the area where you find Sand Fleas, it'll also be an good spot to cast a line out into surf.. Humans aren't the only ones looking for the critters at that particular spot in the ocean waves....Usually, but not always, it'll be a excellent area for surf fishing....

    When I was maybe 10 years old a man at Carolina Beach showed me how to catch sand fleas by hand and remember using them to great success, but that was 40 or more years ago and I can't remember how I rigged them up.
    Do you have any vids on deploying the fleas?

    Great video on finding fleas. I keep mine in a small styrofoam cooler. I place a frozen smart water bottle on one side of the cooler, then bury it with beach sand and fleas. I trade out bottles 1 or twice a day and the fleas have lasted over a week with this technique. Every couple of days I'll sift through the sand and pull out the dead ones, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

    They this is great.. never knew how to read the beach for sand fleas. We call them "sea roach" where am from.
    But what we do is get the inside of a fish, put it on a stick. and plant it in the same area where you rake and they all run to the stick. We wait for enough to come to the stick then we take up the entire stick with all the fleas around it.

    low tide is easier, look for area deep hole (close to a foot) with soft sand, you can use anything bucket or strainer with a lot of holes ,dig into the sand try to scoop deep to get a lot o sand then rinse it, that is.
