    This was my main guide on how to install my skar amp sub. First time installing amp and loc. I did buy my harness from crutchfield, which made it easier to understand the wiring. They provided a data sheet exactly for my setup 😅. Great explanation of everything.

    The fact that you made your own harness and didn’t cut any wires is genius. Wiring is very neat. Explanation of everything is very concise. Very good video and craftsmanship . I just have one question, how do you tell the amp to send the signal in channels 1&2 to channels 3&4?

    • @steffanan

      I didn't make the video but I can help- on the amplifier, there's a switch where you can choose what inputs are used by outputs 3 and 4. On this amplifier it's a physical switch on the side of the amplifier with the adjustments for crossover, gain, etc. If you do a similar install to this, either make sure your amplifier has that functionality OR use the 6 channel lc6i model instead of the lc2i and you'll additionally keep the ability to fade forward and backwards in the vehicle.

    Thanks for the vedio. Both Red Wolf harnesses dash speakers plug & play the in and out to & from amp cut in half spliced worked great. Used a factory ground in the passenger B pillar. The stock deck distorts starts @ least on mine at volume 38 on my oscilloscope and also on the rockford amp I have that shows distortion. Highly recommend boom mats and cut the bottom 1/4 out lots of water intrusion in these vehicles for some reason? Window rails are right above seakers.

      It’s the door speaker wires that’s the problem!
      There like 18 or 20 gauge.
      I wouldn’t put more them 70 watts threw them.

    I just bought a 2023 Toyota EXL Premium model that didn’t have the JBL system unfortunately. I wanted to add a big Kicker Speaker Box in the back. 2/12s and some Tweeters all built into this cabinet with maybe a 2,000watt AMP. Dealership advised me that It could void my Warranty so that sucks. The Salesman said it would be just an excuse to void my warranty.

    This is pretty much what I want to do for my soon to arrive 23 XLE. I'm struggling to find the right harnesses though and I don't think I'll be cutting out any of what you did (Though that's not a bad ide). I just want to pass the signals down and back through factory just like you did while preserving the factory aspect to either remove or upgrade easier down the road. Great videos though.

      If you have the factory amplified audio system (usually identified by having a factory sub in the cargo area), rather than making a T-harness at the radio, you will have to bypass the factory amplifier located behind the passenger side rear cargo panel. If you don't have a factory sub, the parts in the description should be all you need.

    With the dash and front door speakers being in parallel, how do you decide what wattage to provide to the front channel? Or do you just have to go with the lowest of the 2?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  2 роки тому

      We replaced our front component set so we knew exactly how much power we needed. In this case was 100w RMS @ 4 ohms. In general, you would add the wattage handling power of both speakers, determine what impedance they are running at in parallel, and find an amplifier that will provide that power.

    • @ThatWestVirginian
      @ThatWestVirginian Рік тому

      @@ProvoBeastAudio it's been a minute since I took an electrical engineering course. Please elaborate further. Not sure what the circuit layout would be in order to calculate the overall impedance. I know the formulas, just not sure of the circuit layout.

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Рік тому +1

      @@ThatWestVirginian Impedance will be generally set by the speaker manufacture for that specific speaker, however, adding or removing speakers to the same line / channel with change that impedance, or resistance, that the amplifier sees. For example, if you add 2 single voice coil speakers that each are 4 ohms in parallel (pos to pos, neg to neg), that will decrease the resistance or impedance at the amplifier to 2 ohms. Alternatively, in the same example, if you wire both speakers in series (pos to neg, neg to positive), this increases the resistance or impedance to 8 ohms. There are many variables here as to what speakers you are running, what amplifier you are running, and what impedance your speakers are and what your amp is stable at.

      @hectorramirez8055 Рік тому

      You're probably using a 4+channel line output converter. If that's true, and you used the original factory signal for each door speaker, then the reason you're hearing less bass on the rear speakers is cause that's how the factory system comes. The front end of your system relies on the dash speakers to provide the upper end of your frequency spectrum so the door speakers have more room to play bass/low frequency notes. The rear half doesn't have the luxury of having dedicated high frequency speakers so it's tuned to play less bass and more mid/high notes.

    If you have the JBL system, your install WILL NOT “differ ever so slightly!” In fact, you’re going to want to rip that garbage out and wonder why you opted for that package! The JBL system sounds like a third grade music chorus with severe flu. Highly crossovered and filtered! Absolute garbage and JBL should be ashamed! You can not tap into those amplified signal wires and you will not be able to send a sub freq to a sub! 200hz at best to a sub.

    Just had one question does the amplifier convert the 2 inputs into four speaker and one sub output meaning no more rear to front fader control and is there a way to get that fader to work

      Yep, that's what the customer opted for. If you want fader, use the AudioControl LC7i!
