3rd grade teacher in GA. Testing shirts are a must! My favorite has a llama and says no probllama from Amazon. Also, there’s a woman on TPT who has a cursive pack with 2 letters per lesson and a video. The sheets also have a QR code so kids can access them at home.

I can very much relate to when you said “Weekends are a summer tease”. I am very ready for my summer break! It’s hard coming back to school on Monday mornings in the month of May.

I miss AR so much! I had a wall of flame for the fourth grade. I had all of the point categories on big flames and the students names on little flames. They were magnetic and they got to move them when they got to a different point category. Then I had matching point treats they could get. We used AR points at field day as incentives; example dunking booth, basketball hoop throw, and other carnival type goals. To meet the end of year goal we got to put our principal in jail for the day. The sheriff brought an orange jumpsuit and we made the front display into a jail cell. It was great fun!

AR shows them their rocket as a visual heading towards like a planet or something. And how much percent of their goal they’ve met. But for a visual as a class to see, my students get to write their name on the board next to the AR goal met section. I also each week write on the board how much percentage of their goal they should be at. So that when it comes close to the end, if I have 90% and they’re at 60% they know they need to kick it into gear if they slacked. But for most of my kids, this has helped so most aren’t that far behind if they’re trying. Of course I have 1-2 who don’t try usually but that’s by choice. Our school does the parties for them so they know they miss out on it. 😕

We are finished next week! So glad for summer break to be here. We had severe weather this week too. Lightning struck some smart boards in one building and one of our new stadium lights at the football field. It was loud and a bit scary for a few minutes.

We have 5 more weeks until summer break, here in Spain, and is becoming exhausting already (really hot weather starting now, so the behaviour problems are arousing) We are tired, so are the children.
Enjoy your well deserved summer break!

    Katie,
Your School having kids go to school on a severe weather day while the busses are running late just to have to cancel anyway?
Well, the good news is that the joke is on them in the end and none of your "snow days" got wasted so really it was a chill day in school and you still have a full summer break in pocket. WIN/WIN in the end.
You're almost there beautiful. Keep your head up .

We only end mid June. I’m looking forward to the end too.
We just had 5 days of state testing in 3rd grade. 3 for LA (60 mins x 3) and 2 for Math (75 mins x 2). I’m always so exhausted in those 2 weeks.

I think a good idea laminating a ar chart put up on the board and make it a goal for each semester

Another great video! I also teach in Florida and am wondering what app your school uses for dismissal.

We just finished our state testing too. What are your thoughts on doing such a long test in one day vs spreading it out over a few days? I like the idea of getting it over with as quickly as you did, but I didn't want students to have to stare at their ipad for that long in one day. For us, third grade is their first time doing the state test, so maybe spreading it out doesn't really change the score?
