A true musician. Brilliant guitar player and intelligent writer. Nothing Steve does is random, he know every note and every adjustment on his eqipment. If this video lasted 3 hours I wouldn't mind watching it.. twice.
Steve's an amazing musician, his flamingo work shows his versatility . His finger picking is so natural, obviously a great guitarist . Thanks Steve for all your playing that brought me great enjoyment , I was born 1960 so I have a lot of same tastes in music as you. 🙏
@@JohnSmith-mx8wp I apologize , I should know that . I actually won a spelling bee when I was like 8 I think, oh shit, it's been 52 years( man am I old) anyway you take care and stay safe. Steve is an amazing guitarist 🙏
I always loved Billy Idol however it wasn't until recently did I start listening to Steve Stevens. He is an astonishing amazing guitar player, in addition to his playing his tone is Beautiful & Badass!
Steve's guitar works with Top Gun anthem is just simply amazing...the guitar intro and solo and the whole song, should have been the US national anthem...) To this day I'm still amazed, it just sounds iconic and it really rocks...with that song alone, Steve Stevens became one of my favorite guitar hero of all time.
Such a fan! As a totally tone deaf, out of time, musically dyslexic, lover of music, I watch all his videos as possible. Get so much enjoyment just listening to his no nonsense presentations. Always leave feeling so much more educated, but more so, more enriched and elevated.
This man is the reason I listened to Billy Idol for over 30yrs. He even managed to make Vince Neil sound good, better than any MC record. He gets recorded guitar tones to die for. He's also unrecognizable without makeup on.
i like that BAE mic pre with his mod - right now i'm running two API 512c's with a SM57 on one speaker and a KSM313 on the other having to use two tracks - it would be nice to get the BAE SS mod and only need one track but it is a tad pricey
Josie is such lucky woman! I'd LOVE it if I could be having my morning coffee while my hubby shreds down the hallway in his at-home recording studio. So cool! ☮️❤️🤘
3:40 "You get a pretty clean sound" ... "And then if I turn my guitar up you get, (insert the sound of angels crying)" .. 4:53 "And that sort of natural, Um... hey look guys, it just started to rain outside!". This has to be one of the best guitar videos on UA-cam, you can hear every note.
Anybody know what amp is Steve using in this clip? Looks like the small head above the Friedman in the clip of Stevie Wonder superstition cover he did with Jeff S. Soto and Rudy Sarzo (m.ua-cam.com/video/9mvejZrIk6c/v-deo.html)
The way I make sure that my mics are lined up correctly, I record a couple of staccato hits on my guitar and look at the waveform of each mic by using tap to transient and cut the beginning of the waveforms and make sure they're lined up. It works every time. But first you make sure you place your main mic in a position where the tone is right for you, then match each mic to the main one. I use 4 or 5 mics and record them all in their own separate tracks and pick the best combination. I use a 4 x 12 Scumback replica of a 1960B Marshall cab with 70' specs with 4 different speakers(Scumback BH75, M75, H75 and Celestion V30) I do this so I don't have to switch cabinets everytime I'm looking for a different tone. Blending all these different speakers gives me a fuller tone since they all sound different. I think the way I do it saves time.
Is that just dry wet? Or wet dry wet signal? Sounds like the latter to me....that why sounds so huge I think but great rock tone from Steve what ever amp he uses...
I am in the process of setting up my first real studio rig, and I have the rack and Furman PL-8C power conditioner. Nothing else. What to add next is different depending on who I ask. Some say pre-amps, some say an EQ, some say a compressor. I have the Presonus 16 channel desk as well. I don't suppose it really matters, but the brands are just so diverse! Radial, BAE, API, Moog, Chandler Limited...and on and on. Price is important, but not critical. I would rather buy a better piece and wait a bit more on the next on than buy a poor quality piece. Anyone care to chime in your opinion? I am a noob, so keep it simple.
Steve is a musician's musician! A world class player and then some! What a joy to watch and listen to him!
I totally agree. Did you get his album Memory Crash? It fucking rocks. Classic Steve Stevens.
Steve Stevens is my guitar hero. He is one of the greatest !! I met him last year such a class act !!
Steve should be listed as one of the top 5 guitarists of all time. Amazing!
The 80’s; ten years just wasn’t enough.
Steve is one of the hardest working musicians in rock, a top level producer/engineer as well as a rockin guitarist.
A true musician. Brilliant guitar player and intelligent writer. Nothing Steve does is random, he know every note and every adjustment on his eqipment. If this video lasted 3 hours I wouldn't mind watching it.. twice.
The best thing about him -besides his abilities- is how humble he is

Damn you, autocorrect, it's "Flamenco"!

He looks like my Aunt Maria
I like Flamingos
The tone he gets out of this rig is PERFECT. I wish I could duplicate it. This is the tone I have been searching for, for 20 years! Goose bumps.
The Walking Dad a good guitar and a good amp is all you need. Pedals kill tone in my opinion
By a cheap practice amp and you, too, can sound like absolute shit!
I watch this periodically to hear your technique and tone. You are amazing, Steve
I love love love that tone. Perfection.
I always loved Billy Idol however it wasn't until recently did I start listening to Steve Stevens. He is an astonishing amazing guitar player, in addition to his playing his tone is Beautiful & Badass!
Amazing guitar player. His complexity behind simple songs is astonishing.
2 words ROCK STAR! In one word PROFESSIONAL!
OMG.....that tone and those licks. Stevens never ever went out of style!
That tone. Good lord.
You must be deaf.
Steve Stevens, Lukather, EVH and Neil Schon are my favorites.
Def not schon..
Steve's guitar works with Top Gun anthem is just simply amazing...the guitar intro and solo and the whole song, should have been the US national anthem...)
To this day I'm still amazed, it just sounds iconic and it really rocks...with that song alone, Steve Stevens became one of my favorite guitar hero of all time.
+Bruce Chavez Should be, considering the US nat anthm is actually a British drinking song with alternative lyrics.
Such a fan!

Damn this guy totally shreds, love this sound and his technique. Fan for 30 yrs.
This man is the reason I listened to Billy Idol for over 30yrs. He even managed to make Vince Neil sound good, better than any MC record. He gets recorded guitar tones to die for.
He's also unrecognizable without makeup on.
Some bands are like that. I used to listen a fair amount to White Lion because of Vito Bratta. As for Billy Idol, I esp love Whiplash Smile.
Much to be learned here by the great Steve Stevens. I´m also impressed by his humbleness especially considering how famous he is.
Steve is not only an excellent guitarist but an arranger as well to Billy songwriting, they make a very potent team
Steve ,one of the Best Guitarplayer on this Planet.
One of my all time favorite guitar players!
Sounds absolutely awesome. He's a very special guitarist
He is just beyond awesome! So sweet!
Wow. The complete guitarist. He's got it all.
That is a great way to put it :)
Awesome, Steve is my rock idol...
Great tone, mostly because it is Steve who is playing!
Epic SOUND! Stevens is the total package. Always has been.
7:51 .... OHHhhhh ... beautiful ...those sounds melt my frozen heart
Very underrated guitarist, dude is fu#kin wicked!!!!
What an awesome guy!
Steve is such a nice fellow. So talented too.
Steve is actually a monster picker... Way better than many who are world renown as great players...
So awesome rock powerful tone,,that´s the real thing!!
Fantastic steve
That tone is fucking BANGIN'!
50 years later & a hot rodded Plexi is still the shit.
Love the "attitude" that his playing has. He's got style and swagger.

My favorite guitarist
Epic sounds!
so effortless, the music just pours out of his guitar.
I like the atmosphere of this place
I love Steve Stevens
Josie is such lucky woman! I'd LOVE it if I could be having my morning coffee while my hubby shreds down the hallway in his at-home recording studio. So cool! ☮️❤️🤘
Do an instrumental album !
No bears were killed making this video. Hahaha. Now clean your room! Great stuff as always.
The awesome Mr. Steve Stevens !!
sounds so organic....and awesome....
Really down to earth guy, such a pleasure to hear
One of the greats-what a player!
Super guitariste !!! Vraiment
3:40 "You get a pretty clean sound" ... "And then if I turn my guitar up you get, (insert the sound of angels crying)" .. 4:53 "And that sort of natural, Um... hey look guys, it just started to rain outside!". This has to be one of the best guitar videos on UA-cam, you can hear every note.
killer tone
Monster guitar player!!!
Wow top man the business steve❤
Les Paul makes sence in his hands... And such a powerful rock sound...
Steve prefers Les pauls, but he have mostly been under contract with other brands such as Roland, Hamer, Knaggs and probably some other stuff
He's using a Friedman Steve Stevens signature amp ;)
Just like Vito Bratta he‘s got a great taste in his playing, which is really important. Nothing worse than robotic shredders.
He's just so clever , a real professional guitarist , it's almost like a science with him
Anybody know what amp is Steve using in this clip? Looks like the small head above the Friedman in the clip of Stevie Wonder superstition cover he did with Jeff S. Soto and Rudy Sarzo (m.ua-cam.com/video/9mvejZrIk6c/v-deo.html)
When I see Steve Stevens o say I wannabe that guy he rocks
Seems like a humble guy.
If I just had an 1/8 of this man's talent on guitar I'd be a happy man
what a tone!!!!
Me encantaría cantar un blues con el gran Steve Stevens........y con Erick Clapton ......jiji acaso....¿ es mucho pedir?

Is that just dry wet? Or wet dry wet signal? Sounds like the latter to me....that why sounds so huge I think but great rock tone from Steve what ever amp he uses...
Great Video
what a set up!!
usually people this good are terrible people. Steve is a man of the people.
Does any one know where to find those light bars in his rack?
I would like to see him in G3
Steve, have you ever had the cops at your hose for noise disturbance?
最高‼
i know huh, steve's a bad ass.
Above the mpf is 1073 's with eq. What do you use those for? If you don't record with eq?
+darryl weller you can use the eq when recording or in mix down mode

the dual 1073 MP is what Steve chose
Damn that sound is insane, stadium sound. what delay is he using? I'm guessing a tc from seeing some of his rig rundowns?
Steve is such underrated. Love this guy !
3:47 Just can't help guitarfacing
"It's really simple to use" :D
