When people are sitting at a table that can hold more people, I always ask if I can join them. Haven't been turned down yet and it's much better than giving someone the stink eye

I second this! Sometimes it’s the only table a group could find and they may not intentionally be trying to be hogs! Always come at people with grace first and then adjust from there 😂

And it's a lovely way to meet people! I shared my table on the last day with a lovely family from Tampa and had a fun conversation. Travel is much more fun when you have random encounters, and as a lone traveller and a widow, I honestly value those random conversations. (Or just the company if you don't want to talk to me :). I'm good!!)

As someone who saw a grown *bleep* man full on YELL at a very small and rather young cast member in Disneyland, I’m completely on board with the “be nice” rule. I was also very pleased that several Dwayne the Rock Johnson sized guests got in angry-man’s face and told him to chill out. Also, it’d be great if they would enforce “no food, no table” rules at Galaxy Edge, luckily my mom and I were able to make some friends at Ronto Roasters but there was a large group taking up 3 tables with nary a bite in sight.

I imagine it’s hard to enforce that there because it’s such a high traffic area and it’s not closed off, but it’s obviously done at Oga’s since you need a reservation, and they don’t let you into Docking Bay 7 without proof of an order. I saw people trying to get in and they wouldn’t let them pass unless they ordered at the registers at the entrance or showed their mobile order for pick up.

100%! Actually, I am for no food, no seat in general in high trafficked outdoor eating areas for quick service, etc. I would love them paying CMs to say "show us a receipt for a seat." Which places around the country have done successfully! So many times I've seen someone STILL waiting for someone to order in line and eat at a table we could've used before they ever needed it.

I love the idea of making people get their food first before they can claim a table. I was a single parent experiencing the parks with my daughter. I can't tell you how many times we had to sit on a curb outside with our meals because families had grabbed up the tables before she and I could get our food while someone else in their party stood in line still waiting to order. My daughter and I made the most of everything. But it really would have been nice to sit at a table with her and enjoy our meals.

Yes, this is an important point. While the impulse to save tables is understandable (and perhaps normalised due to many people's prior experiences at regular fast food places with more tables and/or less demand) the reality is that with the length of the lines at quick services combined with the quick turnover of tables when people are actually just eating rather than saving tables time + eating time, it does seem fairer for all.

My squinting intensified when I first read the “be nice rule”, but then I remembered a trip I took with my husband pre-pandemic. I ordered a spicy chicken and waffle sandwich at Sleepy Hollow, and not even a minute passed before a cast memeber apologized because there was going to be a 5 minute delay because the chicken was being fried. I thought no big deal, it’s only 5 minutes but she immediately issued me a refund and added on a complimentary soft drink. I insisted it was no inconvenience and I wouldn’t mind waiting but she had already processed the refund while apologizing profusely .
When I explained to my husband what had happened he immediately responded with “I bet somebody was absolutely nasty to them and they didn’t want to experience it again” and my little heart felt heavy. While I appreciated their efforts to make right what they thought was wrong, it’s still upsetting to know cast members experience that type of harassment when my reason for going back to Disney repeatedly is the level of service the cast memebers provide. They deserve nothing but the best ❤

Disney should not sell a single day ticket to someone if there are no reservations available. And they should inform anyone reserving an accommodations whether there are reservations for the parks available then as well - assuming the guest wants to go to the parks. A guest paying for lodging should be able to go to the parks. No matter what. Passholders are clearly also being underserved if they don’t get to use their tickets. I understand the weekend deal but it seems Disney has created a mess and chooses to dig in their heals rather than come up with a good solution

As someone who worked in food service for 5 years. The be nice to people needs to be a rule in every place. I commend Disney for this. When I went with my GF everyone was so nice from the staff to the guests. And we only saw one “Karen” arguing over a table that a guy apologized for taking it, as he didn’t know she was waiting for that table.

I think we need to ban together and campaign for Disney elite to pay their cast more money. The lack of care for their employees financially is causing them to start resentful feelings therefore I’ve been noticing a lot of them not happy the way Walt would want his employees happy. Walt would not have stood for treatment of employees so poorly. But we have greedy people at the top ruining the spirit of Walt Disney. Let’s fight for the employees!

Tip for Space Mountain and loose items: do not use the storage pouch on the ride. Having been on the Grand Opening team at Space Mountain in 1975, I have to say that after we shutdown the ride at closing and went inside the secure track area to collect items that had fallen out of guests pockets was: medcine bottles of NITROGLYCERIN tablets. For those who may not know, these are fast melting tablets that someone would place under their tongue when sudden chest pains would occur. This pain was caused by a very mild cardiac event. Not a real "heart attack" thet we often think of , but another heart condition. Personally it concerned me that should a person need one later it the day.....oh no. But on ther other hand I found some relief that a person with a major heart disease would not go on the ride.

The image at 16:00 was disgusting. I was a street sweeper at EPCOT back in 1989 when smoking was permitted anywhere outside. I recall asking my Lead why Disney didn't install ash trays so that I didn't spend my days sweeping up cigarette butts. He responded that Walt (a smoker, so he would know) thought that ash trays were an unsightly mess in public areas and that the random butt - quickly removed by custodial cast members - was the lesser of two evils... Case proven.

I’m actually so sad that cast members are getting verbally abused by guest. As someone who goes every year to Disney (family tradition), I have the most utter respect for the cast members. They bring the magic to the park. Dealing with thousands of tourist each day is not an easy thing to do.

Just wanna say: I went to DW in January. I traveled from the UK and you guys are FAB. I enjoyed my trip so much mainly because everyone was extremely helpful, whether cast member or other guest. Brits can be very reserved and while I love my country, I always love coming to America because y'all are really welcoming and happy to help out.
WRT Park passes, I messed up and didn't put any reservations through properly before I went. The cast members on the first day at Animal Kingdom, where I planned to go to warm up, just got me a pass right at the gate. My mistake but they fixed it within seconds. I could also go on and reserve passes for the remaining days and even add a park pass for Magic Kingdom on the same day when I got bored on my rest day :).

I remember when I went to Disney World back in 2019 I put a rule in place for myself that I couldn't swear while in the parks. I broke the rule by the end of day one. Now I work with little kids and have to censor myself a lot, which makes my language use very Disney friendly.
My parents are planning a Disney cruise for two years from now, and I was told that I could go if I bought my own plane ticket. I'm gonna put my Disney language to the test at that time.
I also remember walking with my dad at Disney world and having my ankles and calves kicked over and over. I turned around and how a girl who IMO was too big for a stroller (I have no clue how old she was I was and 18 year old that still looked 15 I can't tell how old kids are), and gave her "the look" and she curled her legs up and stopped kicking me. Later I felt bad for mean mugging a child. Now as someone working with kids, sometimes the look is the best thing to get improper behavior to stop.

They took up too much space for the stroller parking section. Not to mention the wheels that would run you over because they love to run over your feet on the sidewalks just because people doesn't want to give anybody with a stroller or wagon at least some space to walk down the sidewalk but hey I guess walking down the main Street would have been a no-brainer.

About that calendar for park reservations. That only reflects general admission. If you want to take advantage of the FL resident discount it won’t reflect the days that aren’t available to that particular deal. So all weekends and some weeks (like March 13th to the 17th of 2023) will still be unavailable to you. Learned this the hard way myself. For these unavailable dates you’ll have to read the text on the offer’s web page. Though it’s worded like a possibility rather than a constant it is very much the latter.

as a “now” young woman, a wheelchair user that has been to disney world since i was a child; i remember in the past on during a visit to disney world, i was visiting animal kingdom during that visit several years ago; a couple of my loved ones and i were in one of the restaurants were it happened it so crowded at the lines to get your food to the point i was the one in which decided to go to an empty table to save a spot for myself and the two abled bodied loved ones of mine i was with; myself and my able bodied loved ones were chewed out when i decided to save that table in particular but then was told i had to get up and be alongside with my two abled bodied loved ones i was with to wait in line alongside them while we got our food and then come back together, it was just flat out cruel and inconsiderate when brought that to our attention. i personally can understand when its not that crowded inside one of the quick service food and beverage eatery’s but when its on a day its crowded, people need to know whether you’re a cast member or/and just another guest visiting the same quick service food and beverage eatery if say a family with a young kid in a wheelchair or/and a family that has an adult disabled loved one in a wheelchair the fact if that family with a child with a disability like a wheelchair or an adult with a disability that’s in a wheelchair for example the fact need to know we can’t please everyone every time; its not our “constant” job personally if that makes any sense, in that way, its a child in a wheelchair or/and adult in a wheelchair or more than likely someone with some type of disability, its for our safety physically. i personally almost left that particular quick service food and beverage in animal kingdom during that trip but gladly sucked it up at the time to keep from in that moment taking it too personal especially to not put a damper on mine and my loved ones trip; just saying! 🤷‍♀

Seldom was it crowded, and you never had to think about passes, reservations or wait times for the the rides! it is by far different now for sure!
