I got mine three days ago. I love it, but they backed themselves into a corner with the shape of the handlebars. It works for me, but the levers sit 10-15mm lower than the tops of the bars, which limits your hand positions, and forces you to use more headset spacers than you normally would with bars where you can mount your shifters flush with the tops. Also no flare on the drops in any direction, and the most minimal drop I've ever seen on any bars. As for the other stuff, it's super nice. All the hardware is really high quality, and well thought out. It was refreshing to see the bolt for the seatpost wedge to be M6 with a T30 head, so you can actually tighten it to spec without stripping it. The stem bolts were really scary to tighten to 8Nm. I tried them at 5Nm on my first ride, but it caused the headset to come loose, so 8Nm it is, no issues.

Good to see that there is some quality out there. From my experience (also from international, investor-driven businesses), it is the owner structure of a given brand that decides whether you get absolute premium or they get a better margin out of their business and a bottom bracket just never fits 100% unless your LBS does the finishing touches before they put your bike together.
Look actually own their factory in North Africa, I’d say they are very invested and it shows. Other named brands in the video outsource their production and are in the business of less effort more pricing. 🫡

@@charlesmansplaining I think the claims of short lived CF framesets tends to often be wildly exaggerated. The thing descends like it is on rails. Doesn't matter how hard you push it, it will just slice through turns at speed and is twitchy when climbing, yet totally stable at speed descending. Exactly what a high end stage race type bike should be. And it is showing no signs of needing to be retired after a decade with a load of miles on it. Lovely bike and presentation as always. BTW your microphone seems to be clipping or something similar. On headphones your voice audio was kind of beeping at the higher volumes when presenting the frame and forks but not in front of the laptop. Cheers :)
The carbon fiber forming technology is the best in the business; that's why. The way it winds the stands around the cnc machined mold is only done by TIME as far as I know.
Thank you very much! What’s your opinion on the Canyon MTB Carbon frame lineup? Especially the present Spectral CF and Neuron CF Frames? Any experience’s with them?
Hi, great frame, great review as well as the other reviews/videos. One maybe a little bit strange question: do you know, if it is possible to mount the frame with mechanical shifting too as the Time Alpe d'Huez Disc? thanks, all the best, andreas
There is no way of making the blade work with mechanical shifters. Even with some frame hacking and hand made gromits it just won’t allow for a reasonable cable radius.
spectacular. thanks for sharing and giving us a peek at those amazing details. Love the stem/bar combo and the finish of the frame. In your opinion, how does it compare to the high-end frames from Scott, Factor and BMC?
I've got my previous gen Blade RS waiting to build over winter, got my order in just in time as I love how that frame looks and this new one is a little too generic , although it does seem to be a great bike. Do you see any significant improvements between the two?
Nice. I guess it depends on what you class as improvements. The Blade you have is a lovely design but the handlebars are not as clean, however they are easier to work with and change.
Thanks @Mapdec, that was the biggest change I could see but I quite like the chunky stem on mine. I prefer the BB386 as well and it's the undated lighter version of the frame. I think the geometry will suite me better, long legs and short reach so I sit high, with the tail headtube it's almost like it's made for me.
They don’t really have bikes in the range that compare. The Time ADH is most like the LOOK 785, but that’s the one bike in the LOOK range that is the least interesting. It’s good, but LOOK are all about the progressive Geo and integration.
Was there any follow up after the Tour de F where there was a handle bar that was shown snapped? I’m assuming there was a crash but it wasn’t caught on camera. Love the bike and system though.
Have you tried finding spare parts for Look bikes? I have a 2017 Look 765 and am finding it impossible to find new headset bearings and cable port/stops in the UK. I contacted Look Support, but they didn't bother replying. Worth considering before handing over a lot of cash for a Look.
Yeah. There is no UK distribution. We are fortunate to order from them directly. For parts, give us a call. Look pretty much close down in august. They do have an extensive spare parts inventory.
@@flyingkangaroo8024 Work through a Look dealer, their service is almost always very good because only what I would call high end bike shops that know what they are doing actually carry them. I used to have a mid 2000's Look 585 and the bike shop I bought it from had no problem getting me spare parts when I needed them. On several occasions I needed spare derailleur hangars and bearings and never had an issue getting them from a Look dealer.
@@Mapdecthis is interesting as I was going to ask, my LBS said there is no UK distributor but I thought they may have been flexible with the truth. Has put me off look a little knowing CS might be an issue.
The only part missing in this video, is the part that you cut the frame in 2 for us to see the inside of it :) Let us know and see if the finish is realy that good.
For me. Look. Because Time doesn’t have a bike in the range that suits how I like to ride. I have a 765 and will be getting a 795 in March. I would use both. But I am not so into the 785 climbing bike. Where as Time has this sort of bike as it’s cornerstone. If I was into that sort of bike. The Time ADH would win hands down.
I am not sure what's happening with the audio on this one but there is a constant annoying beep in the background. I know it's a me issue, but it made it unwatchable. Just a heads up.

I have heard bad things about these frames from pros who race them. Apparently, it's a bit of a noodle and (more concerning) they've had issues with the seatstays snapping. I've seen this exact model and colorway frame in person and it's a great, racy looking bike... but I'd personally hesitate. One thing: you can find this frame for much less than the RRP if you Google.

Yes, exceptional frame indeed. But: A glued Aluminium BB insert in the Carbon BB shell? As far as i know this combination can be problematic in the long run in terms of corrosion. And why do Look think this is necessary if their manufacturing is so superb? Could they not be better off with a pressfit solution like PF30? Or is it me not to be up to date?- Another thing regarding the video itself: Something is beeping all the time in there which makes listening to your speech quite exhausting.
Thanks. I think they are somewhat bowing to consumer fatigue with pressfit. Working on the audio. Think I figured it with help from our audience. Hopefully won’t happen again
@@Mapdec As far as my knowing goes and having in mind what hambini and peak torque are saying about this „new“ method of bonding aluminium inserts into carbon BB shells i would like more about the technical aspects of it: When Look give a lifetime warranty for this frame they should be pretty sure no corrosion or other problems will occur. Maybe it could even be the BETTER solution than pressfit? I mean: the frame costs more than 5000 Euros. At this price i expect a state-of-the-art technical masterpiece in any regard. Lovely bike and presentation as always. BTW your microphone seems to be clipping or something similar. On headphones your voice audio was kind of beeping at the higher volumes when presenting the frame and forks but not in front of the laptop. Cheers :)
Hambini will approve
I’d love a pass from a noise removal audio filter. The mic is doing something on a delay, but content is great
We have been working hard to improve our audio.
The carbon fiber forming technology is the best in the business; that's why. The way it winds the stands around the cnc machined mold is only done by TIME as far as I know.
Where do these frames being manufactured? I mean the specific factory. Thank you for your outstanding content ❤
Taiwan, Look have an office out there to QC with their own staff.
Thank you very much! What’s your opinion on the Canyon MTB Carbon frame lineup? Especially the present Spectral CF and Neuron CF Frames? Any experience’s with them?
Love this content ❤
Thank you
Also what’s the max tyre width please?
Hi,
great frame, great review as well as the other reviews/videos.
@@Mapdec Thanks a lot for the info! So i would have to make the switch, one day it will happen.
All the best, andreas
spectacular. thanks for sharing and giving us a peek at those amazing details. Love the stem/bar combo and the finish of the frame. In your opinion, how does it compare to the high-end frames from Scott, Factor and BMC?
They are another level. We have vids on BMC and Scott. Good, but there is always a shortcut, blemish or cost compromise somewhere.
I seem to have overlooked this video , deary me !!! Which one is better , LOOK or TIME ?
They don’t really have bikes in the range that compare. The Time ADH is most like the LOOK 785, but that’s the one bike in the LOOK range that is the least interesting. It’s good, but LOOK are all about the progressive Geo and integration.
Are the frames made in Asia or at Look factory in Tunisia?
This one said Tunisia on it.
I simply couldnt justify the prices of these top end frames. It's bonkers!
Oh for sure. It’s the cycling equivalent of a Bentley or Lambo.
@@MapdecThe Look wouldn’t fit in the Lambo so it would have to be the Bentley
Could you review a Benotti bike?
It's the brand name for AX lightness.
Thank you
If they send us one. Of course we will.
6:17 not so sure about the finish next to bolt holes, phew.
To those that are lucky enough to have received the new 795 RS Blade can you please confirm it has “made in Taiwan” on the box?
I have 2 here and 1 has a made in Taiwan sticker on the box. I’m seeking clarification. Will report back
@@Mapdec what were you able to find out?
@@kmr-rsr0013 that some of it is made it Taiwan and that the French enjoy their Christmas holiday.
@@Mapdec 🤣
Made in Taiwan in a factory with Look employees on site. The Tunisia site is currently being used for track bikes.
I love everything except the handlebars, can't get over the fact that you can't tilt them.
that's my dream bike , but too expensive for me .. 😪 i still ride my Decathlon bike .... 😟
Don't be sad... A bike is a bike, as long as you're riding my friend that's the main thing.
Was there any follow up after the Tour de F where there was a handle bar that was shown snapped? I’m assuming there was a crash but it wasn’t caught on camera. Love the bike and system though.
Yeah. They delayed shipping for a month while they remade them all. That’s why there has been such a delay.
What do expect their customer service is shite
@@MapdecThanks - appreciate your offer of help. I'll gather the correct spare parts numbers from their diagrams and drop you an email. Many thanks 👍
The only part missing in this video, is the part that you cut the frame in 2 for us to see the inside of it :) Let us know and see if the finish is realy that good.
If only we had more time to film that….
How much does the frame and fork weigh?
What size? What paint? And what parts?
There's only one problem with the high-end bike manurfacturers: they've outpriced themselves
Maybe. But only in the same way as Lamborghini, Aston Martin etc
Which brand BB would you use with this T47i frame for Shimano cranksets? Which one comes stock in the 795 complete bikes? Thanks!
It shouldn’t matter too much. Just choose between weather proofing or low friction seals.
If you had to pick one - Time or Look?
For me.
@@Mapdec Agreed, both ideally but ultimately the Look wins for me as well. Cheers!
What's the weight frame, seatpost, stem @ handle bar?
What sizes…. No I’m not weighing them.
Are they still made in Tunisia or is this one from Asia?
This one says Tunisia
I am not sure what's happening with the audio on this one but there is a constant annoying beep in the background. I know it's a me issue, but it made it unwatchable.
Just a heads up.
I wish I knew what it was. Sorry.
@@Mapdec it's not a problem and 99% of people it won't be an issue! I thought at first it was some noise in the workshop and please don't feel you need to apologise, I appreciate the effort you spend on making videos like this anyway.
Take a drink everytime he says "Look".
😂
I have heard bad things about these frames from pros who race them. Apparently, it's a bit of a noodle and (more concerning) they've had issues with the seatstays snapping. I've seen this exact model and colorway frame in person and it's a great, racy looking bike... but I'd personally hesitate. One thing: you can find this frame for much less than the RRP if you Google.
Sure. It was tested in the pro peleton for almost a year before it was put into production. To me, that’s proper testing. The team did pretty well on it at this years grand tours.
What a sells man. Look should have paid you 100 000 pounds for that review. I love this frame for the horizontal top tube. It makes all the difference to me. And after you talk through. It turned out to be my new favourite frame.
Nice. I’m with you on the top tube thing. I like those sculpted bottom brackets too. We didn’t get a penny from LOOK though.
Not even a skilled marketing team could have created a more enthusiastic and specific video. Your experience and thoughts on what really matters in the long term shines through. Your camera presence reminds me a bit of Kristian von koeningsegg. When the talk about the cars he skips really all the sales pitches and just talks about the wisdom and numbers and philosophies that drives the development. There are not many ytbers that can deliver this information. Keep it up. You have a thing to add to the bike community on the web. This channel makes people look beyond the glossy sales pitches. And it can effect the whole industry in the right direction. After your reviews on dt Swiss and fast forward I know what to look for in wheels etc.
@@mogglie thank you. It’s nice to know folk are enjoying my channel.
beeping sound driving me crazy
I thought its handlebar snapped during stage 15 TdF?
Yeah. Remaking them all is what has delayed shipping for so long.
What frame size is that please?
This was a large
The bike from "Alice in Wonderland"
Is there nothing you don't like about look? 😅
Just that they are hard to obtain,
thought about this bike, went with the SuperSix EVO 4, was it the right decision?
You can only choose from what was available at the time.
@@Mapdec True, I'm already riding it! Both look like great bikes, like the handlebar system of the 795.
@@3TXRI'd personally pick the fourth-generation SuperSix EVO for wider cockpit compatibility. I don't want to stick with one cockpit model.
Looks great, to bad that the stem and handlebars wont fit my 'old' blade rs.
Not that it maters, the fork cracked where the stem contacts the steerer tube.
I never overtightened anything...
Its been sent to look, lets hope they can fix it
Let us know how it goes. I have a lot of confidence it will be sorted. They are usually very good at sorting things. It can sometimes take a while though.
@@Mapdec I'll keep u posted.
Yeah it's not fast, they took 2 weeks to respond to the email, than they asked for the fork, but they where closed for the entire month of August... let's hope they can help me🤞
@@Mapdec they accepted the warranty, took nearly 3 months, and I didn't receive the fork yet, but happy in the end. Just lucky that I had another frame that I could use in the meantime.
@@simonderoo9189 oh wow. I am meeting Look in a few weeks. I’ll ask what took so long. I can understand a wait on replacement, but a decision should be fast.
@@Mapdec thanks, the summer break was also in there so that's one month, but yeah, took some time.
Especially weird because we asked for a new fork, and if they decided that is was a warranty that they would give credit to the store that I work in. I really wanted to continue my season with the Look. But yeah next season I'll be flying with my look again 😉
Id love to see you comment about Rose Bikes as they are currently explooooding (at least where I live)
I haven’t seen one since Brexit.
They don't ship to UK since brexit. I've just had the pro sl 105 replaced by them as inwas knocked off mine. Although rose don't now ship to UK they did honour their crash replacement policy on frame amd forks. I sent my broken bike back and they pretty much replaced everything which was good of them. All at a cost obviously but the insurance of the driver paid for that. Very good customer service from rose 👌🏽
Factory tour???
It would be nice to do one day
I don't think the Tarmac SL8 includes the cockpit/handlebar set.
It doesn’t. I added the cost in the prices I gave.
@@Mapdec ah...Love the bikes --I just bought an Aethos but they are too expensive, IMO (says a guy who bought one..). Given Specialized has had some financial challenges, I'm surprised they are still charging such a premium. Would love to try the Look or Time for that matter but they're near non-existent in my area.
What’s the best titanium bike in your opinion ? Not a fan of carbon at all ,
What is your budget?
@@rcg9573 more interested in your opinion really, also not a fan of disc brakes either.
@Mapdec Do you know what the relationship is between Time & Look. I know there is one, beyond both being French & the first to start making the clipless pedals. Something says they're brothers but I don't recall.
I have heard lots of things. Pedals came from ski binding ideas, and then bikes etc. I will ask.
Time founder was the son-in-law of Look's founder
@@Hperge Thank you, I couldn't remember the relationship & my rudimentary search came up empty.
Look were the first with pedals. An offshoot of ski bindings
I still prefer Time but Look are very nice too
Sure. They are different things. I was out on the ADHX 45 today 😍
The Look frame defiinitely is impressive. But out of my budget league. I just built a Time ADH 21 with Chorus und Citec 3000S wheels for less than 4500€. And it actually rides as a dream bike for me.
@@Mapdec We are very much looking forward to the review
@asmaco1 where did you get the adh 21 from?? I love the new one but I want mechanical shifting so a 21 would be perfect for me
@@LyndonNLeeming22 the 21 is pretty much end of life now. There are rumours of a pre order run once a year though. The 23 can be mechanical. Your dealer will supply the kit.
Nice quality but tbh the quality of my Emonda is very good for much much less outlay.
For sure. But this competes more with the Madone Gen7 The Look 785 is more similar to the Emonda.
But ok, lifetime warranty! If this aluminum insert gets problematic or detaches from the frame, they have to replace it. So why should i bother?☺️
Any idea if they will do a 0mm offset seatpost for this?
Unlikely. The seat angle is already 74°
@@Mapdec seems like a strange design choice - steeper seat tube and setback is presumably the same as a less steep seat tube and no setback?
@@ignus16 kind of. I did a vid on this when it first launched.
Have you seen The dark install old streams, where LOOK quality exposed to be questionable?
