I remember sitting on their couch & looking at the shepherd's back from where I was sitting. They did get him operated on to get rid of the female parts. This doesn't happen very often. The mum seemed to get really upset. Fact that it isn't a tumor but just genetics and her dog can live a normal happy life after surgery should be something to celebrate
It's also an incredibly rare and stigmatized biological condition. People are weird about about normal genitals. I don't think she reacted bad tbh. She could easily have assumed there was a worse complication or cause coming next.
We just found out that our 6 month old cane corso puppy is a hermaphrodite, she is still recovering from her surgery on Monday. Had Soo many vet visits leading up to this trying to figure out what the little pink thing was and why she kept licking down there. Massive shock when we found out she's not entirely a girl.
Im quite fortunate to have seen an operation first hand as a vet clinic volunteer when i was 19. It was actuelly on a pitbull. But it was more of a boy with girl parts his female outer bits was unfuncional and was castrated and neuterd. It was really facinating.
I have to applaud the veterinarian office, realizing the time sensitivity of the matter at hand, your performance was awesome, I love it, keep up the good work.
My mixed beagle/Rottweiler is intersex. He is 8 years old now and has never had surgery. Although it has caused a lot of issues over the years. He is still a great companion. He acts like a mom to all the other animals I have and becomes my little princess when it's snack time and feeding time.
Don't you think it would probably be better to try to help your dog instead of it having"caused a lot of issues over the years" and future issues? I think that would probably be better for the dog instead of having him be a "little princess" I wasn't going to call you out but the more I think about it thinking about the dog having "a lot of issues over the years" seems kind of sick not to help your dog.. especially considering many vets if you spent a few days on the phone would do the surgery for free... And if not if you can't help your animal when it has medical issues because of financial reasons you probably shouldn't have a dog or pass it onto someone who can help it.. or better yet have you and what family you do have a friend's pitch in or save up over the 9 years to help the dog. After 9 years money isn't a excuse to not help your dog if it needs help.
My dog was also born this way we call her Bella and for YEARS i told my family her genitals didnt look normal finally took her to the vet and had her checked out and yep shes a hermaphrodite.. Luckily for us her being both genders has never affected her health. Just in case youre wondering shes a long haired Chihuahua

100% they have found bugs and other animals who are hermaphrodites. It's really interesting. But rare and hard to find in nature because they often get killed by their mothers or predetors because of how different they look. Just like in humans, really. But there's a reason why it's hard to document in nature.
When directed to humans, the correct term would be intersex and many people can be able to live normally with it or never really ever know unless there's some medical reason within the area for a doctor to discover it sometimes. But when directed towards animals and insects its not a big deal. At least to me.

I've owned English Staffies for 30 years, never been without at least 2. I can tell you if a Staffie shows any sort of pain, it's really bad. They're tough dogs. It's never good when they're in pain.

I clean my all dog's eyes and they have no problem with it. I tell them how beautiful or handsome they are and cleaning their eyes makes them more so💖
My dog doesn't like it but he lets me do it. Probably because he knows he will get a treat or a back rub if he puts up with it ;)
